“I have been going here fairly regularly for a number of years and it’s currently the best is ever been. The staff are fantastic, always welcoming and keen to help with whatever you need. The food is well priced, fresh and very tasty with a good variety of options. The lovely little garden is a bonus for a town centre pub and there are lots of themed evenings that are good fun. Well worth a visit.”

“What a wonderful pub. It was fairly quiet when we were there but had a great chat with both the Guvnor and her daughter who have been running this pub for quite some time. The is quite a bit of space to move around in with a bar running parallel to the front of the building. There is outside seating down the side of the pub, but don't forget to say hello to their resident cockatoo as you go out. The Guinness was excellent as was the Courage Best Bitter.”

“YES YES YES. Amazing owners and staff, always making me feel welcome. My favourite eatery in all of Sutton. Prices are fair, portion sizes are amazing and the flavours are delicious. There are vegetarian and vegan options. The plantain and patties are tasty and you must try a tradition Trini double which is two fried bread with curried chickpeas in the middle. YUM.”

The highlight for me was the green curry wonderfull fragrant. rich and perfectly balanced in flavor. the blend of fresh herbs(thai basil), coconut milk, and spices brought out an authentic taste that elreminded me of traditional Thai cooking, if you're looking for authentic Thai cuisine, i would highly recommend this place. it's a warm, satisfying, and genuine taste of Thailand.”

The PM Ellie took time out of her day to describe the perfect ale pairing for my Fish and chips (which might be the best I've EVER had). “Popped into Costa in Cheam around 1 PM on a Monday, thinking I’d enjoy a peaceful coffee break. Joke’s on me — the place was buzzing like it was Black Friday at a coffee convention. Every table was kidnapped by caffeine enthusiasts, so I surrendered to fate and ordered a cappuccino to-go. Now, here’s the plot twist: despite being a foreigner with "I’m clearly not from around here" vibes, the staff treated me like I was the Queen’s long-lost cousin. Super friendly, lightning-fast service, and a cappuccino so good it made me momentarily forget I was standing awkwardly next to a recycling bin. Five stars — would definitely brave the crowd again for that kind of hospitality (and caffeine)!”

“Worth the 4 year wait! Had a roast beef dinner here 9/11/25 and it was amazing. Plentiful and tasty, staff as always were very attentive. Walked out of there feeling very full and content! Highly recommend if you fancy a traditional roast! Don’t leave it so long next time! ;-)”

“If you didn’t believe the California pub could be a fantastic venue for a wedding think again! The pub, staff, owner and managers are absolutely first class! The venue was incredible and it made for the best wedding one could ask for! The lighting, cosy warmth of the venue and the accessibility and space was incredible. The owner Isabella is such an incredible gracious soul and seriously couldn’t have made it happen without her!!! She was so accommodating and resourceful and really provided everything we needed for the big day! The venue was well equipped, staff were great and they allowed us to bring in our own items to decorate the place in the way and style we wanted too! Without any force or resistance. From the bottom of my heart I can’t thank Isabella and everyone at the California enough! All the guests had a place to park their cars. The location was great and peaceful and the venue is perfect for a small intimate wedding. Would do it all over again and twice on a Sunday if we could thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
