“Popped in for a drink before my local club Rushall played Away to Curzon Ashton. Really chilled and relaxed vibe, as well as a fantastic array of music and cool knick knacks adorning the whole shop / bar. Although there is nothing on draught, the owner will happily decant any drink of choice into a cool cold glass. Went for a couple of the German Pilseners including the Jever which went down a treat. Only disappointment was that I didn't have more time to try a few more flavours. Will hopefully make a return in future seasons but well recommended and can imagine it is rightly busy in evenings.”

“The most accommodating and professional service I’ve had for a long time. We travelled from Bristol to Manchester for a family funeral which in itself was stressful enough. “Lovely little hidden gem of a cafe. Really tasty food & drinks, a great atmosphere. I've lived in Mossley all my life and only found out about the existence of this place recently, but I'm definitely glad I did. Went back today (my third visit) to find a new menu. Food still of a very good quality, but I preferred the breakfast sandwich that was on the old menu. The crispy potato skins were a strange addition. I'm all for not throwing away food, but they weren't something I'd try again.”

“Just been here this evening for the first time to celebrate my daughter’s 21st-family of 10. From the minute we walked in, we were warmly welcomed. “Went in today and had our regular breakfast but also got the chance to sample the new pizza!!! They were absolutely amazing and compared to some of the best ones I’ve had in Manchester! “Went here Saturday at 12.30, it was a table for 4 and we were seen to our table by a friendly waitress, ordered our meals which took about half an hour, which I thought was good and when they arrived they were all piping hot. Couldn't find fault at all like some of the other reviews, will definitely be back. Lovely little pub. Thank you”

The fish is absolutely incredible — I ordered it half an hour in advance so they could prepare it fresh, and it was worth every minute. A perfect fillet, no bones, beautifully seasoned, and cooked with real love. I added the jerk sauce, and honestly, it complements the fish so well… rich, warm, and full of flavour. The staff are outstanding too — decades of experience in Jamaican cooking, and you can taste that wisdom in every bite. They treat you like family the moment you walk in. This place has become my go-to for Jamaican food in Ashton. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re missing out. One Love. Unity in a time of division.”

“We arrived at Bean & Bun just as they were closing, but the staff were very welcoming and accommodating; we didn’t feel rushed. We had a nice meal that was made fresh, and to our tastes. Food and drinks were good value for money. The friendly staff made us feel relaxed and made our visit very enjoyable, thank you.”

The chef came over both times making sure everything was OK and had a chat when we had finished our meals, bar staff are lovely and welcoming too. “Good value for money food, a decent selection of real ales if that is what you like (a taster offered to my partner so it was easier to choose). Always a friendly welcome from the landlady and bar staff alike. Great quiz on a Sunday night with free sandwiches and beer tokens as prizes. Ps the aforementioned "landlord " is no longer there.”

“Wow! wasn’t expecting this, Hartshead Inn on the verge of re-opening to the general public after a major refurbishment has elevated itself to become the best place in the area, in All aspects. Absolutely amazing, had an incredible evening! The interior is stunning, the food is amazing and what makes this even better, is how special the fabulous staff make you feel the moment you walk through the door. To have a restaurant pub of this quality has been long overdue in Saddleworth and the surrounding area. Big thanks to the Beth, Paige, Sam & Kaya for making the evening so memorable and to all the other members of staff working away in the background, was great to meet Megan and Craig from the corporate perspective too. So looking forward to returning very soon and on a regular basis.”
