Classic pub experience in Manchester

“Just been to heroes of Waterloo for lunch- 5 adults.We had a table in the restaurant. The choice of food was extensive and comparably priced. The portions were very good, well cooked and presented. The food was of good quality. The service was good, flowed well, not long periods of waiting and at the same time not rushed. Surroundings well maintained and clean Good atmosphere. All were happyand would come back”

“Went here Saturday at 12.30, it was a table for 4 and we were seen to our table by a friendly waitress, ordered our meals which took about half an hour, which I thought was good and when they arrived they were all piping hot. Couldn't find fault at all like some of the other reviews, will definitely be back. Lovely little pub. Thank you”

“Took friends here for Sunday lunch, we've never been before and we were very happy with the welcome we all received, even our 2 dogs were welcome. The Sunday lunch was, literally the best pub one we've ever had, plenty on our plates and tasted delicious. The service was also great, a very polite, smiling young lady served us. Lovely pub too, we will definitely be back, thankyou.”

“My son and I went in half 6 Saturday evening having just phoned ahead to check. Pub was bustling with a good atmosphere and the restaurant was filling up. Lovely friendly staff tended to us throughout the meal which was delicious! I had the chicken fillet, which had lovely crispy skin and the caramelised onion and potato gratin was fantastic and all held together with a great sauce. He had rump steak, medium rare, which was really nicely cooked. Desserts were equally good. I had sticky toffee pudding which was moist with lots of toffee sauce and a really generous helping of ice cream. He had the chocolate and salted caramel cake which was chocoholics heaven! Highly recommended.”

“A spur of the moment decision on a Sunday late Sunday afternoon. A Walk in without a reservation late on Sunday afternoon, the pub was relatively busy and there was a small queue of people waiting to be seated. Whilst guest were being seated, the lady behind the bar could see that we were waiting. She stopped what she was doing, she greeted us with a cherry hello, and confirmed if we had a reservation which we haven’t. She said it was no bother had a table available And it will only take two ticks to wipe down and set up. We both went for the Sunday lunch one roast beef one roast lamb the meals came to the table within 20 minutes and I have to say one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had in years we finished off With one cheesecake and two spoons. The staff here at the Horton were most definitely on their a game when we visited on Sunday. Polite professional and welcoming. We will most definitely be returning to the Horton Arms.”

“We were looked after by Felix who was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious and we were kindly given christmas bubbly and a happy birthday tiramisu as it was an 80th birthday celebration. Will definitely return. Perfect venue for pre bridgewater Hall meal as its literally a 3 minute walk and there's a reasonably priced small ncp car park opposite ginos too.”

“If there was an option for 6 stars, this pub would get it. Came here after a walk in the area and walked in to friendly staff and a warm fire. It was a weekday so not so busy we got a table straight away. You think it can't get better. It does. The pie was amazing, mash was amazing and gravy was amazing too. Such lovely food we had to get dessert and that was, as predicted, amazing. Can't wait to come back here again and try the other food on the menu, really exceptionally good pub to come.”

“I popped down to Moda for breakfast on Wednesday morning (their opening day) I had the steak and eggs with the healthy breakfast bowl and it was stunning both dishes were full of flavour and well cooked. Inside the decor is beautiful and calming with a great vibe. The staff are friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble. I looked over the drinks menu and so much choice for everyone's taste. I can’t wait to go again.”

“A really cool setting with a lively atmosphere. The pizzas arrived piping hot, fresh and really tasty. Probably the best that we've had. The cocktails were excellent and mixed professionally at a reasonable price. The service was great and the staff were so friendly. The only things I would change would be stools to proper dining seats.”

“I normally come here on Saturday lunchtime when I’m visiting my parents in worsley. It’s a very very good chippy. Fish cooked to order, always fresh. The chips are excellent. I would never go anywhere else locally for fish and chips.”

“Outstanding pub. Situated a twenty minute walk, depending on fitness, from Kearsley train station. Walk is downhill there but obviously uphill back. Easily accessable from Farnworth by bus. Child and dog friendly. Lovely country pub decor, with a main room and little quieter nooks at the front. Bar is small so there will probably be queueing. Said to be one of the top five pubs in Bolton area and I heartily agree. I had a wonderful chilly con carnie and my wife had the cheese and onion pie, she said it was the best homemade cheese and onion pie shes ever had in a pub, amazing chef & staff and we should know because weve been in quite afew. Car park and beer garden at the back. Beautiful setting”

“Last week we were [invited] to Sotto for "Tales of the Med" with Stir by night which involved bottomless tapas, paella, pizza and pasta Sotto is a fusion of Spanish and Italian cuisines which has resulted in a combination of homely, fresh food made with passion. Our night began with a coktail, the first of many....so the concept for this night was to bring s bottle of spirits which the @stirbynight guys would craft into genius cocktails as we feasted. I was very impressed with every drink they made with my favourite being gin based and served in a glass of powered beetroots, this resulted in a vibrant shokicng pink cocktail The food was crazy. Not just in flavour but in quantity! I have never been so full that I have had to force myself to eat mushroom and truffle ravioli before, it's a favourite of mine and I was tortured by its beautiful smell as I collapsed in a glutenous heap We were served pizza, Spanish tortilla, patatas bravas and olives before a very unique dish was served (The 4th picture) At first glance I thought this was a paella, but it was actually made of pasta cut finely and cooked with clams and parsley. It was very unusual and like nothing I've had before, personally I did not enjoy this as much as the actual paella that was served later on The chicken paella was absolutely beautiful, it was cooked in a traditional method from the region of Spain the owner Athena is from. I filled up on this a bit too much but paella is up there in the lisy of my favourite foods My favourite dish was the deep fried ravioli! Stuffed with spinach and ricotta, deep fried and topped with a tomato based sauce with Chorizo. This was incredible!! Definitely an amazing invention and a trend needing to kick off Overall we had an amazing experience, theres too much food to talk about. Big thank you to Sotto and Stir by Night for having us. “The restaurant has a charming and cozy ambiance, making it a lovely spot for a relaxed meal. The menu is diverse and caters to a wide range of preferences, including vegetarian options. The service was excellent, especially thanks to Anamika, who served us with kindness and warmth. We tried the Legit Burger, which was delicious, along with the flavorful basmati rice, mac and cheese, and a variety of vegetables. Everything was well-prepared and satisfying. Despite visiting on a Thursday evening, the restaurant wasn’t crowded, and we didn’t have to wait for a table. Overall, a wonderful dining experience with great food and attentive service. “Went there last minute as our other plans didn't work out. I have to say I was shocked by how good the food was as I hadn't heard anything about the place. First of all I love the decor. They have made a really nice and cosy environment. And the food was just beautiful. I will definitely go back. The young staff were so good and well mannered.”

“This pub is not part of your normally brewery chain. It's back to the old days were a couple run the bar with their lovely team. The pub is clean and warm and appears to have been recently modernised. It has a homely feel, friendly atmosphere, reasonable priced drinks and a wide variety of gins and tonics which we enjoyed trying.”

Awesome bar staff;Lucy even remembered my dog's name after more than a year and miraculously produced a sausage to welcome him back! As for the locals I'd challenge even a Tory MP to leave without making new friends! Best pub in Tameside by far.”
