“I started drinking in the strawberry duck about a year ago, it’s a warm & welcoming environment, with fantastic entertainment. All the staff are absolutely brilliant friendly, Vanessa the landlady is next level fantastic. It has a beautiful garden in the bank on the canal side.. Stunning in the summer months. Really reasonable prices. Buffets are amazing when on.only rated 1 star for food and they do not currently run the kitchen. Highly recommend.”

“Absolutely amazing! So close to the train station which obviously is so nice We stayed in room 6. The room was lovely and clean, excellent variety in tea tray (oat milk option as well!) and still very spacious, especially for a budget option! Couldn’t have been more happy! Manager who gave us the keys was so friendly and nice. All in all amazing stay! Lovely to have the shower in the room as well (came with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash which was all very good quality and smelt vvv nice) Couldn’t have asked for better! Even came with ear plugs but we had no issues with any noise :) thank you so much!”

“I did put a review in on another site but I thought I’d get my Google one in, this was from a few months ago. This place was absolutely amazing and I really mean it, one of the best bars I’ve ever been to. The music was spot on and the decor was amazing. It really did embody Manchester at its finest. The bartender who opened up was class and quite hilarious and when the other ones turned up they were just the same. The cocktail menu is literally perfect and the ghostbuster sharer is just so worth the price it’s unreal. The only note I could make is that they don’t do food, if they did…. It could be a contender for the place place in Manchester but I understand it’s a bar not a restaurant and they don’t wanna expand by building a kitchen and hiring chefs etc.”

“It’s hard to not get too over excited but we had a family meal here last night celebrating 2 birthdays - 27th & 25th and we experienced some of the best food I’ve eaten in a while. The vibe in the place was perfect, nice subtle music in the background with a buzz in the restaurant. I wasn’t sure about Japanese and Mexican mix but wow it worked. Small plate dining but we were very food satisfied by the end - no one could eat anymore. The 9 course experience was exceptional and allowed you to try dishes you would never order but were first class. I have to call out a few - 1. calamari - oh wow - this is simple to cook but so many get it wrong, here it was amazing 2. The stone bass - incredible dish cooked superbly well 3. But the deserts came …. Caused arguments on our table as we couldn’t decided what was nicer the crème brûlée or cheesecake - sensational. The service was exceptional and we were looked after by Mira who was a buzz of positive energy and a great host. Our table connected with the sommiler who gave us the best Cloudy Bay I’ve had and the general manager was an amazing guy who ensured we were fully looked after all evening. An absolute first class experience - I could not recommend this place anymore.”

“Needed a new takeaway as a lot have really gone down hill in Tameside. Tried herb and spice and never looked back. Curries and tandoori starter was amazing. The lamb is delicious, best I’ve tasted. Keep up the good food and we’ll keep coming back!”

“Try Thai has been my favourite restaurant for many years. The food is always absolutely gorgeous. If you like spicy food, I personally recommend soft shell crab with chilli and holy basil. Accompany it with sticky rice and you’ll feel like you’re in heaven. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.”

“First class! I booked here for my 50th birthday and had a great time. The manager had kindly decorated the tables so that it felt like a party. Even though our tables had to be socially distant they still made or feel special. The food was good excellent. They had made platters of mixed starters for each table that were huge portions and delicious. Everyone was really happy with their main courses. The calzone is enormous! The octopus pasta superb! I can’t thank them enough for the service, welcome and food. I think I’ll be a regular in future!”

“Had a fantastic lunch here just now. Booked online and had to delay an hour which they were fine about. Had fantastic service and the food was great. I had the rump steak and garlic butter sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly medium just how I asked and that sauce was delicious. Thanks very much!”

“A great pub with amazing staff, especially Millie! Prices are really really good. £19.05 for Dbl JD & Coke, Dbl Jamesons & coke and Dbl Armeretto & Coke. Very clean, welcoming and friendly pub, no issue was to small with happy faces all around and sport on the TV. Also a dartboard which is rare in a pub these days and great slot machines. Will certainly be back to try the food which smelt and looked amazing.”

“Amazing spa hotel that caters so well for families. We come here every christmas and the atmosphere is so warm and festive The whole place is super clean and smells so nice too. we never eat there other than the snacks and coffee. The facilities are amazing and the bedroom is so spacious.”

“We tried the new Asian fusion menu and all the food was 10/10. We had the chicken jalfrezi and vegetarian lahori chana (chickpea dish), perfect with the mango lassi and pina colada mocktail. Will definitely be returning, can’t recommend enough!”

“We used this venue as a campervan stopover. Which was mostly OK. When we arrived to pitch up the parking area was pretty well at capacity due to a Bowls match, tis cleared after about 2 hours or so and we were able to pitch up. As this was free we decided to meet with my sister and partner and my son. The 5 of us had a pleasant meal in the pub which we enjoyed. I would suggest that the proprietors consider putting an outside drinking water tap and marked bins for waste recycling. I have no doubt that we shall be visiting again.”

The Smash Burgers are very good and the Grilled Chicken has a very unique flavour compared to others which I have tried in Manchester. I would highly recommend this place if your in the Whitefield area.”

“Went here before a gig, was a lovely meal! The place is tucked away from the main street, and thankfully takes walk ins, so we wandered in and got seated straight away. Service was quick and friendly, and the food! Great sharing plate for starters, and then both shared red/green curries for mains with sticky rice. Cannot fault any aspect of the experience.”

“What a welcoming pub. A group of us visited after the Oldham vs Woking game on Tuesday night. We were away fans, but made to feel at home straight away! Christine & Jess looked after us so well and we were even bought a round of drinks from one of the locals. We will definitely recommend The Rifle Range and be sure to visit for longer next time.
