“What a beautiful pub!! We first discovered stockport for afternoon drinking ( before lockdown) from a trip out with our local historian and Sentinel writer Mervyn Edwards.. we fell in love with the preserved Victorian history and friendly locals...since then we travel from stoke and stay over regularly. This visit I particularly wanted to discover the Star and Garter. Stunning building...on entrance we were warmly welcomed by barman Craig.. it was fascinating to learn about the pubs history and Craig's family working within the pub trade for generations. Of course we enjoyed Robinsons Iron Maiden bitter.. a perfect pint..a creamy head all the way down the glass! A cash only pub... my husband always supports Cash is King ! A lovely traditional friendly local pub.. we'll definitely visit again.”

“Great traditional pub. Great entertainment on Friday nights for music & karaoke. The managers are great as are the staff. Great atmosphere and lovely group of regulars. Through the day, there is a beer garden at the back which is a sun trap and great for a relaxing pint after work.”

“The food was amazing. Not much atmosphere, but we went during lunchtime, so it was very quiet. Tables left dirty even though it was quiet, but the food was worth the money and worth the travel. Would recommend and would visit again. Paid £36 for this platter”

“Been twice recently, once for breakfast once for a carvery. Both time the food was fantastic, hot, fresh and tasty. The chef came over both times making sure everything was OK and had a chat when we had finished our meals, bar staff are lovely and welcoming too. “Stopped into this pub on the way home from a weekend wedding to break up our journey. The chef and host could not do anymore for us. The food (mikes kitchen) was delicious I had a chicken roast and my husband had a homemade pie. Our daughter is a fussy eater they accommodated her perfectly. Staff were very friendly and easy to talk to, as we left they were setting up for karaoke, wish we weren't leaving.”

“Almost walked past the place and thankfully we didn't. Welcomed in and the staff who took order was very chilled and polite. Food was a very good portion and the nan bread was fresh the salad and sauce that also came was very tasty and really made the meal! The chicken was of high quality very soft and juicy deffo going back again. This is real food. Worth every penny.”

Between any janusry - decemver 2023 to 2025 January to Jun etc can't remember what date exactly Sometimes I ised to get waffle Hot coco with marshmallow etc Depends in days I was in Staff are helpful including helping those with reading word They have nice display off cakes , biscuits and sandwiches They can be cold or cooked judt ask staff Price are different from each cup you have One I used to have like a massive bowl with to handle side by side. I not been recently Please check there website for opening times Facebook or others social media platforms they might be on. They sometimes bring new cakes you not seen. Muisc not to loud Has a nice space for extra customers to sit down Not just bottoms floor They aldi have disability access to That good. “Met some friends for a few beers before going to a restaurant for a meal and went back to Angel after and they had Kareoke on, it was very busy and the atmosphere was very good, nice to see a pub doing well.”

“Great local pub with friendly staff and good prices on beer. Just beware of ordering spirits as they can end up being very expensive for a double. Sunday dinner is really cheap and cheerful at less than 7 quid for a HUGE plate of food that even a fat guy like me can never finish. Saturday night atmosphere is great with karaoke.”

“Have visited this place on a number of occasions. It is a Sam Smith's pub so they only sell their own brewed beers but the prices are very reasonable. Friendly staff and I guess that mainly older patrons (like myself) will enjoy visits to this pub. There is an open fire during the cold weather. A traditional pub that you can access from the main street by descending steps.”

“Visited over Patrick’s weekend and really enjoyed liked the relaxed atmosphere. The place had plenty of screens showing the football, which was a nice. They also have Thief Street in the kitchen, the food was fantastic, great portion sizes and tasted delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Drinks are on the pricey side, with a pint of Guinness costing £6.70, but since we’re not big drinkers, we just had one drink each so it didn't affect us too much”

“Spoilt for choice in Bramhall for eateries, and having never tried the Nook and Broom before, the family and I thought we'd give it a go. The verdict was unanimous. A great choice of family friendly seating areas, all well lit. A number of small unobtrusive TV's for those who go to watch sports. The food. Oh my goodness the food! Great value and all very well prepared and served in good time. My personal favourite was the 1kg chicken wing sharer. So much so my son and I went back a few days later to take advantage of 'wing Wednesday' 40p per wing (the wings are a good size too) in the sauce of your choice. Then, spotting the breakfast menu had to go back next day to sample the £7 Big Breakfast (see pic). A great spread for seven quid and all done to [my] perfection. Finally, the friendly and attentive staff. Cheers Leon and Olivia for topping off the experience with your professional and welcoming nature. Highly recommend this place for all the above reasons.
