“We had a great meal at Gem Turkish Restaurant. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The octopus dish, in particular, was absolutely outstanding – easily one of the best I’ve had anywhere. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. My only complaint? The remix of Creep by Radiohead that came on during our meal – a complete travesty to music! But even that couldn’t spoil an otherwise excellent evening. Highly recommended.”
“Had a fantastic chicken and lamb cous cous last night it was excellent and the portions are huge and customer service is excellent they phoned me to say our order would be a bit late due to being so busy would definitely order again”
“Awesome family run business. Very welcoming from the moment I stepped in. The food was excellent and very reasonable priced, all made traditionally over charcoal which gives it that authentic taste. The staff were very attentive and very hospitable. Big shout out to Ibrahim! I wish this business and this family all the best. Support your local independent businesses!”
“Authentic Jerusalem street food within the city walls of Norwich. Owners are always so welcoming, very knowledgeable and proud to explain what is on their menu and to show you the special spices they import directly from Golan Heights. The falafel is lovely, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside, in a dish it is combined with hummus of outstanding flavour. Then comes the great selection of pickles including gherkins, tiny pattypans, peppers and cabbage to name a few. Fresh salad features on the plate too, spicy sauces all add to create loads of flavour. Just sublime. Mint and lemon tea is a must to complete the authentic experience. If falafel is not your thing you can always try the chicken schnitzel, lamb, shakshuka, kofte, shawarma and Za’atar. There is always a good selection of cakes, vegan ones too. I love coming here for a healthy and tasty bite to eat.”
“I had a jackfruit burger, and it was incredibly delicious—I was very impressed. It’s one of the tastiest dishes I’ve tried in Norwich. I was particularly impressed with how they fried the jackfruit; it was amazing.”
“My Daughter was telling me about this cafe so we dropped in for a coffee and a pot of tea with some lovely cake on offer extremely nice and friendly staff highly recommended”

“I stayed at Poacher’s Pocket from Sunday through to Friday morning in chalet number six, and it was everything you could want – whether you’re away as a couple or, like me, on a business trip. The views are breathtaking, the service is impeccable, and the staff are genuinely friendly. The owner, who has run the place for 15 years, has clearly put a lot of care into maintaining and updating the site – the new cladding on the outside gives it a fresh and welcoming look. The location is perfect: plenty of space out front to enjoy in better weather, a shop just down the road for essentials, Sainsbury’s only four miles away, and the beach right on the doorstep. Inside, having a fridge and a microwave grill made it easy to prepare simple meals when I didn’t feel like going out. That said, I did eat in the restaurant and was really impressed. I had lamb tikka with rice – cooked beautifully and even delivered straight to my room, which is service above and beyond. As someone who travels a lot and reviews plenty of places, I can honestly say Poacher’s Pocket stands out. For the location, the views, the comfort, and the service, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. Just book it – you won’t regret it.”
“Had dinner at the Maltsers while we were moored up. A charming place with friendly staff. There is a separate pizza house next door that prepares fresh pizzas. The food was delicious, hot and well priced and we had a game of darts afterwards. Would highly recommend.”
“The really nice taste I love lamb of the leg”
“Fantastic people, fantastic food! The people who run the front of house (a stocky gentlemen mid 20s black hair) real gentleman + the rest of the team who seemed friendly too. Not many planes do Shawrma in Norwich and this being one of the very few, imo the best tasting. Standard combo - peri salted chips with peri wings and a kinder beuno milkshake. They do it all, from mouth watering takeaway shawarma style, chicken plamos and pizzas to all desserts such as creps, waffles even bubble tea. Very well worth your money, a must to get food from! Kept clean too. Nice to see”
