“We visited here after a trip to a National Trust property. We parked outside here to go to a pub further up the road & expected it to be closed when we came back, but they were still open at 9.10pm. Which was very lucky for us! The staff were so friendly & the food was all delicious. We ordered mixed kebab meat, fish, steak pie, large sausage & large chips. The prices are very good & the portions are very generous. As it was near closing, they gave us a large battered sausage & 3 potato fritters for free. We mentioned that we were going to share the food whilst sat in the car, as we aren’t local & asked if we could have 3 spare trays to make it easier. They went one step better by giving us 3 trays & offering for us to sit inside at a table, as they still needed to do their cleaning. We gladly took them up on this offer & thoroughly enjoyed everything. Such excellent & friendly service. We will definitely return here if we’re ever in the area again :-)”

“Incredible place, everything we ordered was excellently cooked and felt of high quality. Service was really good, friendly and attentive. Only downside was a slightly lacking atmosphere on 7pm on a Thursday, a night they had a 3 courses for £33 deal on, great value though! Special shout-out on the fish du jour bouillabaisse, that was so good, as was the wild garlic veloutte.”

“Can’t comment on the rooms as we didn’t stay. We stopped at The Huntsman as we were passing through Cheadle on the way home on a Sunday and were not disappointed. We were greeted warmly by the staff and shown to the lodge with lovely festive decor. The Sunday lunch was a generous size and was delicious! Our children had a wood fired pizza which was equally as delicious. Sad we didn’t get to stay for dessert due to time constraints but would definitely recommend to anyone passing through.”

“Came in on the 29/09/25 around 13:30. Ordered a drink and a buffalo burger. Honestly best hot and spicey burger I've had in a long time. Had the same burger in other spoons and have been very disappointed. Who every was in the kitchen. They understand hot to make a burger listed on the menu as hot, HOT!”

“To say the Sunday lunch was good would be an understatement. Plenty of meat, vegetables cooked the way I love them, oceans of gravy. The only issue was the impossible to open condiment sachets, but the very friendly staff sorted that out for me. Apple and blackberry crumble lovely. Will be coming back soon”

The bar staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, engaging in delightful conversation that added a personal touch to our visit. The food was excellent – we tried the sharing platters and were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions and great value. The pub’s Christmas decorations were beautifully done, creating a warm and festive atmosphere that made our experience even more enjoyable. This is easily one of the best Greene King locations we’ve visited locally, and we’ll definitely be returning!”
