“Wonderful welcome. Very large comfortable bedrooms and superb food! A fabulous place that we will return to regularly. The landlady and landlord and fabulous team make sure every guest is happy. Whether visiting for a drink, food or overnight stay you will not be disappointed. The food portions are huge but save room for the lovely homemade desserts too!!”

“A traditional pub, recently taken over by new landlady from another thriving town centre pub. Good selection of drinks, friendly staff, clean and welcoming. Open fires for winter. Easy access to the train station and other Macclesfield pubs, restaurants and bars.”

“Great service, great atmosphere and the food was amazing. Sheekh kebabs and shami kebabs were flavourful Chicken tikka biryani was made as per request. Paratha was cooked perfectly. Overall a great restaurant with friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended”

“Great pub. We were staying nearby for the night, read there was tapas and took a wonder up to check it out. Beer is sublime, best pint of ale I've had in a while. Yes the tapas portions are big, but very nice, so no complaints for us! Beer garden has some awesome views and the sunset was amazing. If we are ever back this way we will come again.”

She arranged early check in for us to store our luggage ahead of a wedding, she left some cute thoughtful touches in the room for the bride to be, and delivered breakfast early for us. She also arranged for some property to be posted back after we left it there. I would 100% stay here again if I was in the area. Especially to see her lovely dog Ella again! Thank you Karina ”

“Very nice place to stay. There isn't a play park near the cottage and the garden is very small, if you are visiting to be out the majority of the day then I would highly recommend.”

“This place is fantastic. The food is delicious, cooked beautifully, melts in the mouth and is perfectly seasoned and spiced. The portions aren't so big you can't finish them, although the food is so good it's hard to imagine leaving any. The service is that perfect balance of attentiveness where you are never waiting to get a server's attention, but they aren't hanging around you. The staff themselves are such lovely people, it really makes the experience. Booking isn't necessary but if there are a few of you, worth while. Highly recommend.”

“We stopped at the Davenport’s arms after visiting Lapland UK. We were welcomed and seated . The food was amazing we all cleared our plates. We were welcomed by Brad and the manager . They could not assist more. If nearer to us we would definitely make a weekly treat. Lovely place”

“Tried lucky dragon tonight on recommendation. Had the meal for two but swapped soup for chop suey rolls. Picked up on time and everything was well packed and hot The food was delicious and portions were generous. Really enjoyed our food, thank you. See you next time”

“Called them at circa 21.56 on a Sunday to check the closing time as the Internet suggested two different closing times. Turned out it wasn't what I was hoping for and they closed at 22.00. However, the chap asked how long I'd likely to be, which was 10 min or so. Absolutely no issues for them! I really really appreciate this type of service and trust (that I'd turn up). I work late on a Sunday and occasionally just want a takeaway and always miss the cut off point. I'm also aware of how British it is when we experience good or bad service to then go the whole hog. For example: The service staff were terrible, so that (in terms of a review) means the food is terrible. Likewise, The food was amazing but the service staff couldn't have been less interested if they tried, so 1 star this place grrrr. Make sense? However, genuinely, I really enjoyed my takeaway and this is a little hidden gem away from the usual on Mill St/ Sunderland St etc.”

“Cafe is very dog friendly. You can take 2 dogs per person inside and staff make them very welcome. Yes you order at the till but everything is then brought to your table. The hot drinks loyalty card is a bonus, collect 6 stamps and the next hot drink is free.”

“Love Ajs. Whether it’s a cuppa and a piece of delicious cake with the girls (the rocky road and chocolate brownies are a particular favourite) or lunch with my daughter it’s so lovely to get a smile and a bit of chat from the team. The cheese scones are delicious, my daughter loves the cheesy oatcakes and you can’t go wrong with one of their specials.....especially a meat and potato pie. My hubby loves a good breakfast on the weekend too. It’s a family affair for us just like it is for the team there. They treat you like family.”
