“We had a wonderful family lunch at Banchory Lodge to celebrate my parents golden wedding anniversary. My dad has issues hearing so we were given the option to book a private dining space which was lovely. We were well looked after and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend”

“Absolutely brilliant hotel. Staff were always so helpful, polite and friendly, rooms are of good size and have all the usual things you’d need. (Only thing i would say to the hotel is get some plug sockets installed bear to the bed when possible). Breakfast was really very good, and the same could be said about the restaurants evening meals, VERY generous portions, all tasted lovely and at a great price. Look forward to my next stay here. “First visit here and absolutely blown away by the service and food. We stopped here with a wee dog for lunch and the waiter from start to finish could not have been nicer. The service he delivered was perfect and even brought some water, biscuits and a sausage for our dog was so kind. We went for some sandwiches and drinks and loved them both. Their club sandwich was packed with filling and flavour and came with fries. My friend had the pesto sandwich which looked equally delicious and such a big portion. Both hot drinks were divine and all topped off with a chilled, friendly atmosphere. It was the little touches that makes this place stand out from the high standard of service for both us and the dog to even bringing out some complementary croissants with our coffees and a fancy touch like the dry ice that created a fog over the table. Honestly, if you’re down at the beach and wondering where to eat, head here. They have good menus from like snacks such as soup, sandwiches, breakfasts, waffles and pancakes to more main meals like burgers and pasta. There is something for everyone’s taste or dietary restriction. Next time we want to sit indoors to be served by the robotic cat. Can’t wait to go back and our whole lunch for big portions and drinks came to just over £20 which was exceptional value.”

“Delicious and fresh food. Only one objection is that the bao buns are a bit small and can be part of a set, not a dish on its own. Apart that everything was good. The portion of fries was generous. Nice and attentive staff.”

“Firstly. Service: phenomenal, was greeted instantly, kind and soft spoken server and our water jug was refilled when it wasn’t even empty. The way my jaw dropped at the level of sophistication this place has (even at almost 1am). Please come here is your unsure as I could not recommend more. Furthermore the actual drinks here are delicious and well thought out, plus, the mixologists know what they’re on about here. I referenced a drink from a video game and one of the bartenders knew what is was, told me and said he could make it if I wanted. 6 stars!!!!”

“I enjoyed my meal on Sunday but I found the service bizarre. In retrospect, I wonder if we had done anything wrong. I am not sure when we arrived, but it might have been after three when they have stopped serving. My partner, who I know can be very difficult, asked the chef serving behind the Carvery, if she could have a Vegan meal. He agreed a special price for her, for just vegetables. I was given a special price, for only having a single carvery course. The problem came when we wanted to choose a table. The Sunday Girl initially insisted that we could only have a table in which the cutlery was laid out. We eventually had a table by a window which was much lighter. The extra work involved moving a knife and fork. At this point, my partner decided she did not want anything at all. So she left me on my own, which I was quite happy about. I was feeling hungry and I had wanted to eat at the Porterhouse for a long time. So far, so good. I enjoyed my meal. When I finished I stood by the entrance to pay. The Sunday Girl pointedly ignored me and chatted with her colleagues at the bar. I walked over to the bar to pay. I was presented with a bill for two people by the Sunday Girl. When I protested, the chef reduced this by half. A lot of people find these confrontations surprisingly unpleasant.”

“We visited a few months ago and were blown away by the quality of the food and service at The Räv. The decor and interior design is tasteful and relaxing; service is friendly and efficient; and the food is excellent. The soup of the day was a spiced pumpkin and carrot soup, which was perfectly seasoned and paired well with a basket of freshly-baked breads. Both the Swedish meatballs and cauliflower mains were delicious. Desserts rounded off the meal nicely.”

“First time here last night for a friend's birthday meal. The food was excellent and we had attentive service from our waiter. The food was reasonably priced and our per person cost included lots of drinks & service tip!! Our table was from 4 - 7pm and then we reserved the area in their bar for a few drinks afterwards. Great place and I'll definitely be back.”
