“Great pub/bar. Several real ales on. Timothy Taylor's Boltmaker was exceptional. A few Belgian beers in fridge, Duvel, fruit beers. Food spot on. Tried a couple of burgers and they were delicious. Great staff. Overall 10 out of 10”
“We had a lovely experience when we all came out for a new year’s meal as a family. The food was lovely and Joe was wonderful, he checked in with us regularly, was polite and attentive. You have a great member of staff there. A fab experience, we will definitely return.”
“Delicious starters and mains, with a wide variety of drinks. Had a range of Small Plates, including halloumi sticks and garlic and chilli king prawns, plus a range of mains, including the fish and chips. The food was so nice, I forgot to get photos of the main dishes we ate.”
“I had so much fun at old bar, Lovely Jasmin was so sweet and helped me understand the gluten free options. The food was lovely, and I would recommend !!”
“I'm not a regular here but when I do visit I always find the atmosphere friendly.”
“Great place for a few drinks & food. Felt a little bit cold inside for this time of year. Food good always hot plenty of variety. Great customer service from Stacey, a very polite and friendly member of staff who couldn't do enough for us. Location Great just 5 min walk from the leeds arena.”
“Best pub in the area. A proper traditional old school pub. Excellent prices and good beer. The staff are amazing and welcoming.”
“Visited This Place on a Friday Evening. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine who I was visiting in Roundhay Area of Leeds. A Small Little Place & Could See That The Staff Really Made an Effort For Their Customers While Serving Not Just For Us. Prices are VERY Reasonable at least for Me Since I'm Used to of Paying Silly Money Driving Up & Down The Country. I'm in Business Myself & Would Say That We Should Take Care of Local Small Businesses First in Our Communities & Use Them as Our First Choice Then Going To These Big National Chain Bars/Pubs. I Was Glad to Help This Little Place Through Me & My Friend. I Would Recommend This Place to Everyone 100%. Thanks”
“Nice Decent Place for Food + a Great Variety of Drinks. Been going here for sometime now for drinks or dining and always enjoy our visit. Last two visits I've noticed that the service was not up to the level which it was before for example staff taking time your order or not getting around you regularly to check up if anything needed also even after paying the bill I noticed that table was not cleared for sometime. Don't know if it was because of the less staff or just in general. The venue wasn't busy either. One thing for sure was that food was once again top notch. I'd definitely keep going here and recommend others to try this gem of a place on street lane.”
“Wow..... Food is incredible and amazing service. My steak was so good, cooked to medium and the hake was so well presented. The wine was beautiful but the port was served at the perfect temperature, along with the cheese!”
“What a fantastic pub hidden away but definitely worth finding a true gem, allegedly the oldest pub in Leeds”
“The food here is absolutely delicious and delivers on so many levels. The layers of flavours in each dish, will leave you wanting more. The indochinese fusion dishes will tantalize your taste buds in a way like never before. My ultimate favourites are Chicken 65 and the Szechuan rice. You honestly will not be disappointed!!”
“Visited today for my birthday lunch, food was delicious (cooked by Boris) and our server Catherine was super friendly polite and chatty :) x”
“The recent renovation and the new management—from a renowned ex-restaurant in Leeds City Centre—have elevated the dining experience. The dim sum offers an authentic Hong Kong taste at an affordable price. Service was friendly, and the venue was notably clean and quiet. With a small car park and a nearby bus stop, the location is convenient. Highly recommended for a repeat visit.”
“Been in a few times recently and always found the staff to be pleasant, the beer to be good and fairly priced (better on happy hour obviously) I can't comment on the food personally as I have not eaten, but have seen a few dishes go out and they look good. Atmosphere only 4 stars because it was rather quiet when I went in but imagine it would be great if there were a few more people in. (I tend to go out during the quieter part of the day anyway)”
“A fantastic pub which I've been drinking in for decades. Great selection of beer and the food is fantastic. A very well run pub. Top marks.”
“Did a paint and sip tonight. thank you to the staff; Megan, Liv, Etto, kodi, Tom and Alfie for all the service. The food and drinks were 10/10. Great atmosphere and a lovely night overall thank you”
“Great little bag, reminds me of my visit in Ghent! Popped in for the Belgium beers, Sam and James gave me and my friends some great recommendations on some beers we haven’t tried! Great customer service - all the staff are very helpful and chatty! My favourite was the Rochefort 10! Lovely warm and cosy atmosphere with great bar snacks! Will be back and eager to try the other head of steam venues!”
“I visited the Head of Steam on Park Row in Leeds with my daughter for a few drinks, and we were absolutely blown away by the service we received – especially from Greg. From the moment we arrived, he couldn’t do enough to make sure we had the best possible experience. Greg was warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us loads of great advice on the beers available, helping us choose drinks that suited our tastes perfectly. His passion for what he does really shines through, and it made our visit extra special. It’s not often you come across someone who goes so far above and beyond in customer service – Greg is a fantastic asset to the pub. Because of him, we’ll definitely be back again soon! Thank you, Greg, for making our visit such a memorable one!”
“Visited yesterday with my young son. Our food was great, incredibly fast service even though it was busy, the staff were friendly and the toilets are immaculate. Best Wetherspoons I've been in I reckon. We even stayed for pudding.... which was lovely too.”
“A lovely and vibrant place to have fun, wind down and meet people where everyone, regardless of sexuality, race, culture etc are safe and welcome with zero tolerance for discrimination. It was like a home to me for much of last year and I strongly recommend for anyone (except bigots and troublemakers obviously) to visit and hang out in”
“Nice bar situated on Granary Wharf. Visited for lunch and try the food from BaoBros. Great selection of beers available at the bar as well as a good menu of other drinks. Food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. Tried the pork belly, chicken and fish options with salt and pepper loaded fries. All stunning would definitely visit again.”
“Excellent service from calum this afternoon he deserves a medal serving 2 groups at a time what a grafter! Thanks we have had a great time”
“Pleasantly surprised by the Sunday lunch. Good value for money and a lovely atmosphere Be warned they do not allow you to give a tip on a credit card.”
“Loved it! We did not have a reservation, but luckily there was a table for us (8 pm Friday night). The service was good and they were very quick. The portions were very good and the food was lovely for a great price. We went with the dinner menu which is a very good deal. Would recommend!”
“Best meal I’ve had in a while with the customisable Toad in the Hole! Atmosphere is stunning and is positioned in a quieter part of lively York. I went with the Welsh dragon sausage (homemade) which took my breath away. Gravy was delicious and paired with red cabbage for freshness. The whole meal was as comforting even in the heat wave as advertised! Would love to come back”
“Been a local here for the past couple of months new owners absolutely fantastic, great atmosphere. Was a local before the new ownership and they have continued to set the bar high. Very welcoming towards new customers and regulars. highly recommend coming here if you fancy a quite drink or a drink to socialise, they have a good energy and are very polite and respectful towards anyone who walks through the door so yeah in a nutshell it’s a great pub and a great community.”
“On a snowy night the welcome couldn't have been more warm. Great building and decor. Food was great, loads of options, nothing was too much for the staff. I would highly recommend it, We will be back soon.”
“Gluten free delight! This stylish pub has an extensive gluten menu that almost mirrors its non-allergy menu. Fantastic choice and a ‘dream come true’ for the gluten intolerant. 2 for 1 menu Monday to Friday 12-5pm, too. Lovely food and we’ll definitely return. (Photos: gyros was not gluten free; chicken burger with Korean spicing was gluten free).”
“VOX bar on wood Street is really cool. Nice interior. The staff and customers are friendly. The selection of beers and rum is amazing.”
