“Having always looked for an excuse to cook for friends and family, I decided to see what classes were available in Leeds so I could brush up on my skills. I found 'Get Cooking' and noticed they were running a 4 week Italian masterclass in the evening, so after reading that i'd learn how to make fresh pasta - which i've never done, I was VERY excited to join! I can cook myself, but there are some gaps in my skills and this course seemed pitched at the right level for me. In a nutshell the facillities are second to none- everything you'd need and i felt a little bit 'bake -off esque' with a lovely wooden bench to work from with built in cookers and hobs and all equipment to hand. Its a large creative space and Emily & Adele were very welcoming, serving us hot drinks and also a glass of something stronger if we fancied as we got to know each other. In terms of what we covered off- there were lots of surprises and we definitely learnt more than was on the 'syllabus', tips on how to make great bruschetta, panzanella salads, courgette and gorgonzola bocconcini/ appetisers etc , The recipe ideas and techniques were also brilliant, Emily doesnt proclaim to be a gourmet chef, its just more about bringing people together to 'Get cooking' and pick up her techniques and ideas along the way. Its about enjoying the process as much as the end result which differs from some cookery schools. Having said that, all the dishes i brought home were enough for two for tea the next night and my husband was WELL impressed - especially with the meat ragu, proving that i had picked up a lot of knowledge along the way and i felt confident to try make these restaurant quality dishes myself at home in future. Emily & Adele are both friendly people who want you to get enjoyment from the courses, its informal and you can ask questions along the way and get help if you're a bit stuck. The pace was just right and i can see they're developing other courses as we speak, this would make a great teambuilding session, or hen/ batchelor party or just a solo activity.”
