“We did take out and everyone we met at the restaurant greeted me and my family and our small kiddo, and were extremely friendly and kind. Even though the order was short of one item, they owned up to the fact and was incredibly polite and professional regarding the actions taken to remedy the situation. If we visit the area again, would love to have a sit down - it looks like a great environment to host a reunion type of event for friends and family. The food was delicious!”
“I visited Barshu recently and was really impressed by their new November specials. Every dish had that authentic Sichuan flavor I’ve been craving! The Braised Pork Knuckle was the highlight — perfectly crispy on the outside and incredibly tender inside. The Pickled Cabbage & Pork Tripe Grilled Fish was another standout: tangy, flavorful, and so comforting on a cold day. I also loved the Spicy Lotus Root, super crunchy and addictive, and the Mushroom Braised Tofu, which was warm, fragrant, and soothing.”
“A lovely time at May's. Very personal service from the lovely May and food is fantastic. Recommended”
“Ho from Holy at Holloway Road - the lady who runs this place is so lovely and radiates positive energy. It really stood out to me. First time I got food here and will definitely be back. Very affordable and large quantities!”
“Lovely food! Staff are polite, friendly and were attentive. I recommend come here if you want good Chinese food”
“Wow..... The food was amazing, the staff were welcoming and friendly and there was a great atmosphere. This is my new favourite Chinese restaurant for sure. My girlfriend is Chinese and also said the food was authentic tasting and superb. Thanks guys for the great service.”
“Staff is very nice and good service. Free parking is available back of the restaurant. I like spicy food and staff recommended Boiled Fish in Hot Chilli Oil and Chengdu Pickle Fish are very delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant.”
“This was my first ever proper Chinese meal due to being. Coeliac but I felt immediately at ease. When first sitting down we were asked if anyone had any allergies and I was given the gluten free menu. There was so much choice our group got everything gluten free so I could try a variety of dishes. When the sauces were brought out we were immediately told that they were gluten free which was a nice touch. My group told me that it tasted like normal Chinese which made me extra happy as this is a cuisine that had previously been inaccessible to me until visiting here. Will be visiting here again.”
“I have been many times to this restaurant over the last 25 plus years. There is a set price evening buffet menu available, which was £15 per person the first time I visited, this has now risen over the years to £26.90. A very good selection of starters and main courses are available. As long as you finish any ordered food, there is no limit to what you can order. A pad and pen are on the table to write the dishes you would like to order. My favourites are the starters, especially the selection of ribs. The crispy duck is excellent. If you have room, there is a very good choice of main courses to choose from. I have never had a bad meal here, or had bad service. If you like Chinese food, this is a must visit place.”
“Had the most amazing Chinese meal with the family here tonight. Food so fresh and beautifully prepared. Staff attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back again. Would advise booking as a small establishment, but sooo good.”
“The best Japanese/Chinese takeaway in town. Great variety of dishes including lots of vegan options. Very tasty and not greasy. Reasonably priced and good delivery. Have never had a bad meal from here. Really nice to eat in the restaurant as well. Child friendly.”
“The food was amazing. It's on my favourites to visit again and the staff was very friendly but they prefer cash when paying”
“Lovely people who took my order over the phone and delivered it on time. It was a large order and all the items were nice and hot. Food was delicious.”
“This restaurant is more than twice the distance of my local one but so worth the extra travel time. The dim sum was exceptional, very high quality and well made. It was also very good value compared to the nearest biggest dim sum restaurant. An unexpected added bonus was the Saturday 1pm raffle which was good fun and very generous of the restaurant. Staff and service was great too. No dedicated parking is the only negative. I highly recommend and I will be returning again soon.”
“Fong's Kitchen is the best Chinese takeaway shop in London for me. I love their salt and pepper shrimp and Singapore noodles. Plus the girl on the phone called kelly was really sweet and kind and actually really patient even though i took a long time to order. Please everyone give it a try if you see this review.”
“Best Chinese we've had in many years. So sad it's not local as we'd order all the time. They do deliver to my Mother in Law's though. The food was so delicious I forgot to take pics haha and I usually always do. We had spring rolls, tofu Szechuan(best I've had and actually spicy for once, unlike many other places) and tofu black bean. Vegetable rice(so delicious, with seaweed in, massive fan). It reminded me of Chinese I'd have as a child. So hard to find decent Chinese take out nowadays. The fortune cookies were a nice little touch too. My son loved his food too, we all did. So glad we gave them a go. We'll be back again and again.”
“This post is three decades overdue. I was born in Hackney in 1970. I lived around the corner from Well Street market until 1987 when I moved to Canada. I'm still in Canada. But I'm 99% sure that Sun On Chinese Take Away is the same store my brother use to send me to frequently to bring home food for him. It was red just like Sun On, and more or less in the same spot. I remember how much I loved the food. I still love Chinese food today, thanks to Sun On. If anyone from Sun On is reading this, can you please confirm that you are the same store that existed in the 70's and 80's.”
“I have passed by this place several times without really noticing it, but was recommended by a friend. Excellent. Perfectly cooked rice and noodles, chicken satay one of the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommended”
“I just came across today... Tasty! and price is reasonable. opening hours in week days is up to 11PM. Convenient if you need quick dinner or night meal after work....”
“Truly the best service and food I've ever ordered for the whole family. Very helpful over phone and welcoming to lots of questions we had about some of the meals ordered. Delivered on time, and although had missing order, the item was delivered immediately as soon as I mentioned this. Would suggest: Beef in black bean sauce and Hofun noodle, crispy chilli beef, sesame prawn on toast, chicken curry, duck Chinese style and chowmien or Singapore noodle. Already looking forward to trying the left overs tomorrow!!!!”
“So tried this takeaway for the 1st time today, firstly i have to say, what a lovely lady i spoke to on the phone, she took my order and was friendly and polite and patient with me as i was unsure about a few of the items i was ordering. My food was delivered by a friendly and polite driver tpo. Our food came piping hot, i thought i had ordered something wrong so i called up again and the lady at the other end explained to me politely what my meals were and how they should look and i have to say the food was lovely, the service lovely and the friendliness of the lady taking the order to the driver was just such a nice experience. I shall certainly be ordering again and highly recommend this take away”
“Came home after 5 pints and absolutely smashed 5 chicken balls, half a Singapore vermicelli and half a mixed veg in oyster sauce, will undoubtedly smash the rest tomorrow lunch time. Absolutely banging”
“Great food but be prepared for the long waiting times or order hours in advance! Tried the mushroom fried rice which was amazing and much better than the stuff in Hongkers. Portions size is reasonable but slightly pricier compared to ones nearby.”
“Absolutly great food!! A real treat if you like good food and a nice atmosphere! Try the salt en pepper king prown as appetizer, you will love them!!”
“Great takeaway run by really nice and friendly family. Everything I have tried has been really delicious and the Singapore noodles are the best ever ! 5 star hygiene rating too. Highly recommended.”
“Best Chinese food that I have had in a very long time, I can’t believe that I haven’t tried this place before?? Very quick service indeed, very tasty food, still piping hot when I got home, thank you very much YNWA XX see you next time =)”
“Finally found my go to Chinese!!!! The rest in my area have gone downhill. Honestly Xings food was delicious and will definitely go back! Great large portions and the quality was fantastic.”
“Came for a lunch out and had the very good lunch deal. Nothing fancy but loads of velvety beef in the beef noodles, spring rolls were crisp and hot and prawn dumplings good too. Sichuan pork was maybe under powered for me but that's nitpicking. Lovely owners, decent food at a good price and the kids loved it. Recommend going in rather than takeaway because it's just a very pleasant place to be.”
“Just a very very good Chinese. Cheap, tasty, and great service from the bloke. We come nearly once a week cos we like it so much. Perfect for e.g. if you're having a mental health crisis”
“Moved to St James' Street area recently and tried Chow & Cha just before lockdown and was blown away! Very good value, really tasty dishes packed full of flavour! Generous with the extras too :) Special recommendations for the Crispy Chilli Beef (see pic) - best in town! And the crispy seaweed is A+++ Was sad to see Chow & Cha close for a few months but can safely say (after tonights order) they are BACK with a BANG.... Yum yum yum! Thanks C&C, until next time, your friendly neighbours, Rob & Esther”
