“Had a wonderful meal this evening. Steak cooked to perfection and lovely atmosphere. Best part of the evening was our waiter Patrick - amazing service, amazing personality and is a credit to M&C.”
“From the starters to the main dish, everything was absolutely perfect! The rib eye was cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Every bite was delicious, and the sides complemented the meal beautifully. The service was excellent too , Ihtsham, who served us, was an amazing host, friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
“Great spot for always having at least one gluten free beer on tap, usually a couple. I'm a big fan of when they've got locals like Brightside. Generally a good atmosphere whenever I come. Sometimes a lot busier than others, probably event related as it's very close to a number of live venues. That said, I can often find a seat in the second, quieter room pictured below. I would appreciate GF food options, but I understand this is exceptionally difficult considering they do pizzas. The music is almost never particularly loud, which means you can always converse. The only setback would be that some of the beers can be pricey, but this is absolutely to be expected given they are quality craft beers rather than mass products, and I say this is one of the few spots where it's worth it”
“Great local pub with friendly people and good atmosphere”
“Manchester Road Chippy is an absolute gem! The food is always delicious and perfectly cooked, but what really makes the experience stand out are Lydia and Phoebe. They are fantastic at their jobs—friendly, efficient, and always with a smile that brightens your visit. Their dedication and great service truly deserve recognition, and honestly, they should both get a raise for the amazing work they do. If you're in the area, this chippy is a must-visit!”
“The Birches is a very welcoming pub, great atmosphere with an open fireplace to warm any weary traveller. A great selection of beers and larger, I had a glass of their Australian Shiraz, which was very nice; much nicer than what is usually served in pubs. Food is served using locally sourced produce. It is traditional, very well cooked, and served on nice warm plates. Recommended to all.”
“Really good Chinese with very tasty dishes and good service. They have a separate bar and some high tables for people who want to eat small plates. Free parking behind the restaurant. Recommended.”
“Absolutely loved this hotel. It is a short walking distance from the train station, easy to access. The building looks amazing and the rooms are just fab! It is a proper hotel room but very well equipped even had a small kitchen installed giving a feeling of an RBnb so you can cook your own meals if you want. Nice and clean bathroom with some nice brands of shampoo and body wash. Also had iron and hair dryer. Oh, and the view was stunning, staff was superfriendly. Wifi was quick, easy to connect and even the staircase looks beautiful. Highly recommended accomodation if you visit Manchester.”
“First time here in a long time and it was really nice ..good choice of beer”
“Great homely pub, superb atmosphere, very friendly bar staff and clientele. Definitely recommended.”
“Free parking, great atmosphere, dog friendly, excellent food and beer garden. The staff were polite so overall I will definitely recommend this place to everyone.”
“Great bar in the heart of the city. Food chooses really great, had the grill of the day - creamy chickpeas with chicken. Mushroom filled scotch egg also great. Espresso martini good. Service great and prices fair. Would visit again.”
“Very good pub owned by Manchester Metropolitan University and run by the student union. The pub is a tap for the Bollington Brewery and had five cask beers - and 1 cider - on handpump when I visited. Lots of outdoor seating most of it covered.”
“Google did not hear my search for the Gait in correctly and directed me to this by mistake. I did not attend but Google assumed that I had and listed my review for the Gait inn at Millington I'm error. So this is to correct it. No fault of the Gate which I will attend next time I am in their location. I'm sure it's fine but I only post about my experience not Google errors.”
“I am very happy I stayed at the Waterside Hotel and had breakfast there. They take good care of the guests and accommodate funny requests when possible. My special thanks to Adele, she has a good eye for detail and contributed to starting the days on a good mood =) Also thanks to kitchen staff! Good work! Those egg Benedict... And the pancakes... Delicious! Greetings from Room 31.”
“couldn’t fault the hotel at all ! from friendly and professional staff throughout our stay to clean and comfortable rooms ! we will il be returning to stay again very soon”
“It looks really good after changing from Thornberries .more cosy and modern. Food service was so good”
“Great food. The atmosphere is great but would be better if they'd play some music more often in the evenings, however I understand reasons for not doing so. Service is good and staff are friendly. I would recommend.”
“wonderful stay. Room was modern, comfortable, and more amenities than you might necessarily expect do the price. Didn’t even spend that much time in the hotel but it had a decent bar, breakfast and pool table downstairs. Excellent location right next to the station and trendy locations in Manchester. Plan on staying in this hotel every time I visit if I can”
“Lovely setting. Great service. Their champagne never disappoints and the olives were so tasty. Great place to break up a shopping trip....have been visiting for years and always enjoy.”
“This is a lovely pub house with some outdoor tables. It’s so leisure to sit between the green building and a grassland. The fish and chip is perfect and the fried onion is crispy enough. I really enjoyed the chocolate sundae too.”
“We absolutely love it here! are regulars at Mottram wood because as a family of 6 we find that it has everything we need for all of us. Great food, friendly staff, a good play area for the kids and an outside area. And then the food is decent pub grub at a very reasonable price. We find it to be the best play area / restaurant around Manchester. We came here for Christmas dinner which was great and so reasonably priced and today my son just had his 6th birthday party at the wacky warehouse. Alex and Jess in the play area are outstanding and can’t do enough for you and the kids adore them too.”
“The DJ was fab. He played both mine and my friends requests. Definitely coming back. X”
“Had a weekend away in the Peak District and was visiting nearby towns. Came across this lovely little cafe in a small town not to far from where we were staying (Whaley bridge). We ordered the egg and avacado toast which was yummy!! The hot chocolate was really rich and just perfect. What attracted me to this cafe was the mostly vegetarian menu. The cafe was also a walking distance from Millennium walkway is another great place to visit!”
“Since my review below, management have reached out to me and have confirmed their cutlery and crockery is recyclable hence I will add another star to my review. Many thanks for response. Very interesting place for breakfast or lunch in Cheadle. This cafe is definitely a positive addition to the Cheadle community - making it feel more like some of the cafes in Didsbury. It is very clean and had a nice friendly atmosphere. The manegment adhere to the Jewish community, hence this cafe is closed on a Saturday. You will find lots of nice things on the menu and everything is well presented and clean as stated above. The reason I can't give this more than the 4 stars, is based on the disposable plates, knifes and forks and coffee / tea cups. I imagine on a good day this Cafe must go through a lot of disposable waste. Not sure if any of this is recyclable (but I have no proof) so effectively this cafe could contribute to world pollution (perhaps comments from management will put me right on this issue). It would be good to have notices saying the cutlery , crockery is all recyclable as this would get another star from me. And lastly but not leastly there is only one Vegan option on the menu. As we all know Veganism is on the rise and it is always good to have more Vegan options on the menu. On the other hand for the Jewish community it isn't an essential - but for the public it might be. In conclusion I would recommend this place as it gives a fresh look to the Cheadle community and it is clean. Worth a visit if you are in Cheadle.”
“Food is exceptional, I can't stop thinking about the my risotto marinara and for dessert, pistachio semifreddo on special is to die for! They have a small parking which was full when we got there on Sat evening, we had to find on-street parking elsewhere. Though we got a table just fine without reservation”
“We booked a table online for 10/9/25 and mentioned we would be bringing our well behaved dog.. Absolutely wonderful dining experience. The service was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious. The owner?/chef came and checked everything was ok and had a chat. We will definitely be back. Doggo was very welcomed too... much appreciated. Thank you team Swan.”
