Best british pub in Sheffield

“I recently attended a presentation, which was hosted here, by Chris Potts about his experiences on HMS Glamorgan during 1982. It was a great evening at a lovely venue such as The Cross Keys is. We were served an absolutely gorgeous buffet half way through the evening which was well received. The staff were all very polite and efficient and at end of the evening it was my pleasure to meet the lovely owners, Tony and Hayley who went out of their way to make this a special evening. From another ex-Glamorgan, I too served on that great ship back in 1982, thankyou I will remember the evening with pleasure you are fine hosts!”

“Went here tonight (Saturday) it was busy but we had booked and was greeted with a warm welcome and seated straightaway. The food was absolutely fantastic, we had the 3 courses for £30 which was amazing value for money. The service was amazing. Will definitely be returning.”

“Have been told its one of the best pubs in Chesterfield so we decided to give it a try. Well worth the trip. They offer a special lunch menu during the week, either 2 main meals for £23 or Any burger get a second for and additional £4.95. We tried the burgers. From bacon, crispy onion rings , to chorizo, black pudding ,pullled pork and even spar ribs off the bone their selection is amazing. They were cooked to perfection. My stilton cheese burger had 2 patties Char grilled, with stilton cheese premelted dripping down the patties. With onion marmalade and all the trimmings on a brioche bun. Seriously the best burger for miles. The other dishes we saw coming out looked as inviting but for me I ll be back to try some of the other burger crearions. “Reopened for 2weeks now. Had a burger and lasagna today. Food was freshly made. Burger was very testy and delicious, one of the best burgers I have ever had. Good quality meat, well cooked and spiced, home made chips, lovely. Would recommend and will come again.”

“This restaurant was recommended and see why. The food, staff and location was wonderful. We had the 'while you waiting' snack - delicious, then starters, main course and sweet. All the food was tasty and flavoursome. I had the homemade 'pie of the day' (mushroom and ale) which was absolutely delicious and plentiful. The triple cooked chips (pinched from my wife's plate) were some of the best we have ever tasted. The menu is not extensive but after seeing what other diners had ordered as well, we noticed all the dishes had the same care and quality and represented very good value. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and we insisted on leaving a service charge as none was included. We throughly recommend this establishment.”

“Attended a a familys anniversary here yesterday. Was really surprised how friendly and welcoming all staff were. Was a little disappointed that kids had to leave at 7.30pm as we were having a great time.DJ sue was fab really great with kids couldn't do enough for you. Definitely be back.”

“80th birthday for my mum. Had a nice Sunday afternoon. Great service. Food was good and arrived in good time and was hot. The place was full and very busy so we were pleased with the prompt service. The choice of menu is ok for a pub chain but a lot of dishes came with sweet chilli or BBQ sauce. Only 1 choice of salad dish which was slightly disappointing. Be good if more fish choices were available. All in all very satisfied. Thank you guys!”

“So first of all I want to say how amazing the staff has been towards me and my family. They are always welcoming and generous, they take time to talk with you, we’ve had the pleasure to get to know them. There was a time when we were struggling for money, as I normally get a monthly pass. The staff went out of their way and put together the money to buy me and my daughter a pass for the next month. I was and still am incredibly touched by their generosity as they didn’t need to do that for us, they went out of their way and we are incredibly grateful.”

“I booked a solo dining experience on the kitchen bench at the end of August. This was my first foray into fine dining and I was not disappointed. From the moment I was greeted at the door, I was made to feel incredibly welcome. The taster menu and whole kitchen bench experience was just wonderful. It was more relaxed than I was expecting which suited me perfectly! The food was exceptional - I was presented with a wide range of dishes which gave me the opportunity to try things that I hadn't before and I enjoyed every moment. Whilst the food itself was wonderful, it was the restaurant and kitchen staff that really took my visit to another level. Everyone was very warm and friendly, not to mention attentive. I was looked after incredibly well, especially by John's team in the kitchen. Thank you for such a fantastic experience and I definitely plan to return.”

“Aww wow! Go here! We go to bawtry most Sundays, So we decided to explore the surrounding villages, this place was amazing. We rocked up after serving time, and the chef ( lovely lovely guy) came out and showed us the menus, and was more than happy to cook for us. The food was outstanding! The atmosphere was so nice and all the staff were helpful, funny and lovely! We’re going again next week. X”
