“Very friendly place, both staf and patrons! The bar is small, but there are plenty of tables in the beer garden at the rear, weather permitting! There was BBQ in the aid of the Air Ambulance, so we had a burger and chips, very nice! Some very nice beers on offer, defo worth a visit!”
“Went in here before we went next door to see James Blunt ..... my partner nipped in to ask if he could leave my wheelchair just inside somewhere if i walked in (I'm able to walk a short walk on the arm of someone) anyway the bar staff came out & produced a ramp!! So we went in & got a drink & had a look at the food menu & ordered some food. It was very reasonable & tasty!! & the landlady played James Blunt songs for me too!! All in all a very enjoyable afternoon & fabulous staff!!”
“Creative Cocktails and Grand Atmosphere at The Alchemist Rating: 5/5 Stars We popped into The Alchemist King Street for a pre-dinner cocktail and were thoroughly impressed. The setting alone is worth the visit: it occupies a grand, stunning Grade II listed building that truly reigns over King Street, making for an instantly luxurious experience. The atmosphere is sophisticated, and the decor is highly unique—the space is cleverly decorated with labeled and thematic elements, reinforcing the bar's name and concept. The real highlight, however, is the drink menu. The mixology here is truly creative. We ordered the Espresso Martini, and it was one of the best we've ever had. It was delicious, strong, and beautifully presented, creatively adorned with a dark chocolate edible spoon and a dash of caramel caviar. This attention to detail elevates the experience beyond a standard cocktail bar. If you are looking for an inventive drink in a stunning location near Nottingham station and the City of Caves, The Alchemist is an absolute must-visit.”
“Went into the cozy cafe above the little acorn. Made so welcome. Food amazing and sumptuous portion, service above and beyond amd prices that won't be beaten. Beats all other cafes in the area”
“Service was very good and food and drink were great. The restaurant was almost empty so the atmosphere wasn’t great but that’s down to the time we ate so not the restaurants fault.”
“Absolutely lovely Saturday lunch. Great menu and good value for money. Comfortable seating area. Easy to order via app or at bar. Easy to book table via app, although it was not necessary on Saturday.”
“Hello! This is Ella, we had a reservation today and it went wonderfully. We was a full group with 13 people including some with health and mental issues. They accommodated us perfectly, ensuring we was okay, giving us our food just in time and helping when we needed it. They were very kind and the food was absolutely divine, every piece being enjoyed by everyone in the group even the pickiest of eaters. Thank you all for the great service and food!”
“The food was great with good portion sizes. My daughter and I visited on a Sunday afternoon and had the escovitch fish, prawns, cabbage, sweetcorn, carrots, plantain with rice and peas. Trevor and all of his staff were very welcoming, friendly and provided excellent customer service. We will definitely be returning to eat and 'party' at one of the themed events. Thank you for an enjoyable time.”
“I had the taster menu with my son and friends to celebrate his GCSE results. The staff were fantastic explaining every course and the food was delicious! Definitely worth visiting for the menu.”
“Lovely cafe, lovely atmosphere, clean and all staff we're really friendly. The food and drinks we're delicious and we would definitely return highly recommended”
“Spoiled for choice when I went in here for the first time. I ended up with a 'chicken tikka flat bread', recommended to me by a regular, and thank you to that gent for his suggestion. Everything in the wrap was delicious with the perfect amount of filling to bread ratio. Nice coffee too, all great value and friendly staff.”
“Delightful family run place with a fascinating selection. Ideal place for a quite drink that is not run of the mill Update Having frequented after far too long, it is so great to be reminded just how lovely this gem of a place is. The selection is still really good, and unique, the host is friendly, and the clientele is simply delightful. What isn't to like about any of that? We shall be back soon”
“This was a wonderful find and I have been back on a number of occasions. The food is amazing and the staff and atmosphere is brilliant. The sad note to this is that it is closing soon and we will be missing yet another excellent pub due to lack of custom. I’ll be very sad to see the end of yet another amazing establishment.”
“A fantastic little pub with a great atmospher and a great selection of beer. We stopped while on a walk and having walked past the two other pubs in the village we couldn't resist the woodlark. It was a sunny Sunday afternoon and the out door seating area was packed, booking a table to eat would be esential. We didn't eat but the menu looked good and we'll be back next week to give it a go.”
“What a find…. Such a lovely place. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Popped in for a coffee with a friend, very relaxed vibe. We just had coffee today but my friend assures me food is always good. I am definitely returning to check this out”
“Love this beautiful pub & recently tried their Sunday Dinners! One of the best ever! The beef melted and the roast potatoes & yorkshires were something else. All locally sourced, which is even better and the staff are all super warm & friendly too. Can't wait to come back. Absolutely Awesome!”
“Having been staying in the area, the Chequers Inn at Breaston provided a great welcome, Really friendly place to hang out and everyone I've met in here, bar staff and regulars are all equally happy to have a chat. There's three areas, one with a very cosy feel, carpeted and traditional, a hard floor area with a large TV and comfy seating, and a sports area with pool table and darts. Very multi-generational and inclusive, everyone is looked after and canine friendly too! Dog treats available at the bar - woof! Superb bar management too, no one ignored, always acknowledged. Great choice of drinks including non-alcoholic and newspapers also available. Look out for the big teddy bear with the unfortunately grumpy face (hey, it's what's on the inside that counts), who is often dressed up to promote happenings. There's a Pub quiz Tuesdays, and a disco night once a month on a Saturday night. There's also an outdoor area which I'm sure will be hugely popular come the sunshine.. Such a great find this place, very close to the village centre.”
“A lovely family Sunday lunch was enjoyed by all. A large Sunday roast beef for me with Yorkshire Pudding, roast potatoes, kale, parsnip, carrot & stuffing. Friendly, quick & efficient service. We'll be back!”
“Fantastic place. I regularly eat here or just popi n for a coffee. Fresh quiche made while you wait (about 15 minutes). Worth the wait. The cakes are delicious and large slices (but youcan have a ½ slice). I took my friend the other week and she really enjoyed it - so much so that she is going again. Never had bad service. Staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble. Everything is home made and fresh. There is a free carpark opposite for about 10 cars and 2 disabled spaces k3 hour parking). There are also 22 other car parks in Kimberley - one for 3 hours and one is free for an hour and the £1 till 6.00pm. Would highly recommend.”
“I went in a few days ago with my 2 young children. The landlord was very nice and accommodating of us. Also thank you for the Halloween disco this evening. A great community pub!”
“Top notch cakes, pastries, coffee, and food. The menu isn't huge but is varied, caters to dietary requirements, and the quality of the food is fantastic for the price. Used to be a regular haunt, for brunch, very glad it's back open!”
“Amazing Sunday dinner! We stopped at the Trent Navigation Inn after a long drive back from London in bad weather and were looking forward to some nice hearty food. The Sunday dinner here did not disappoint! One of the best vegetarian nut roasts I’ve ever had and my husband said the beef and turkey were great too! The staff were great and the service was brilliant. Really friendly vibes in a comfy welcoming setting and can’t wait to come back for another Sunday dinner. Hopefully next time we’ll be able to save space for pudding as they also looked amazing! Thank you!”
“Great service Great venue Food was nice Roast dinner about £20 Burger and chips about £17 Good quality food”
“⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Sunday Dinner! We had such a great Sunday dinner! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was excellent. “Went for the beautiful carvery on Sunday. Melt in the mouth meats, and all the veg. Lovely bar staff and extremely pleasant young girls in the carvery. Great value, will be coming back very soon !!”
“Superb real ales, still one of my favourite pubs .”
“Classic pub almost unchanged since I used to visit with my Dad back in the late ‘70s. Now the brewery tap for the adjoining Nottingham Brewery and has a great range of their beers always in top condition. Friendly locals, great staff and decent pub snacks too. A reminder of what St Peter’s Street was like before it became student land. Anyone serious about beer and an authentic pub atmosphere needs to make the effort to visit. Highly recommended.”
“Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Adam the new landlord was very welcoming. The pub has also had a very tasteful makeover since coming under new management to bring it's decor up to date which has enhanced the atmosphere too. All in all the perfect, family friendly country pub.”
“This was one of the best Sunday roasts that we’ve eaten in recent memory - delicious food and great service. We loved the cosy atmosphere and the contemporary decor - the team were friendly and service was good. Will be returning for sure!”
“Was in Southwell for the day and we were looking on internet and came across the old ship so we decided to visit. Friendly, helpful and polite staff the place was very clean and tidy. The food was very reasonably priced and very good quality and a good range of choice. Would recommend to others.”
