“A little gem. We were meeting up as a family and this pub was half way. Not only was a pint on offer at £2.50 (May 2025) but the food was via an attached Indian restaurant. The food was excellent as was the pint. Don't be put off by the sky sports signs it was a nice village pub”

“Went to the Four Pears for a business lunch yesterday and had an amazing steak! It was cooked to perfection and the only problem was I wanted more! I had to leave for a meeting but the person I was with had a sticky toffee pudding that he said was divine. Definitely go here if you haven’t already.”

The food was also great I hear it got new owners 5 months ago and then took it from the highbrow place it was before back to a top notch, still elevated, local. I honestly think the new owners got EVERYTHING right. The rooms were also clean, inviting and comfortable beds. Well recommend”

“I had never been to Althorp Coaching Inn until I was recommended their brilliant open mic event, that happens once a month in the barn. George is a brilliant and welcoming host who delivers excellent sound quality, making performing an absolute joy. It is the best of any I have been too. The staff at the bar are brilliant and the decor and atmosphere is superb. Thanks to visiting the open mic last Tuesday, I became aware of Liane Carroll performing on the Thursday and bought a ticket. I was delighted to see more events planned. I wold not have found this delightful venue were it not for the highly recommended open mic. I am looking forward to eating there next time.”

“We had lunch here today and it was a very good experience, my wife had a vegetarian curry, peanut based, very hot and tasty, perfect. I had lambs liver and bacon with onions and mashed potatoes, as I don't enjoy cabbage I asked for mushrooms instead which was duly served and delicious. “A wonderful little Bed & Breakfast in a quaint little town! The service is fantastic, the staff are super friendly and extremely helpful. The food is delicious and it has a great pub and patio as well. Highly recommend the Full English Breakfast, the Sausage & Mash, and the Sunday Roast! Breakfast is included when you stay at the B&B. It’s very convenient that they also offer a take away breakfast box if you don’t want to have a sit down breakfast. The rooms are also very comfortable. Awesome place for a meal, drinks, or to stay a few nights!”

“Amazing care was taken of us before and during my Dads celebration of life on 25th July. Nicola was very accommodating and very kind and considerate when both visiting and booking the venue. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble. On the day Albert was an absolute star and his cocktail making will be the talk of the family for a while. They made a very difficult day easier to manage and made the day special for us all. I would recommend them for any event.”

“Top notch service and apart from pies everything is halal they claim though there’s no certificate(I guess that’s because of Pies). Prices aren’t bad compare to others. The only problem I see is the size of the fish. It wasn’t large, it’s more like medium to small. Food looks and taste amazing will use it again and hope they do proper large fish next time.”

Popular indoor/outdoor space and enough parking. I always thought the Loop Road was a local myth but really is a road to where you just were with a great pub half-way round! “First visit with the new chef, the food was very good and my husband’s steak was cooked to perfection. Wine selection was good, I had a glass of the Argentinian Malbec which I really enjoyed so of course I had to have a top up. We received a warm friendly welcome from the owner and the bar staff who kindly found us a table as we hadn’t booked. I would recommend booking as the pub was busy which created a good atmosphere. Need to try their Sunday Roast soon.”

“Great pub we fell into. The garden is amazing and the pub has a lovely feel. We had a 'Small plate'. I had a chicken waffle which was lovely and my wife had a prawn and chorizo taco. The mains however looked incredible. Definitely going back for the chicken burger. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended”

“The hotel is close to the city centre and close to many amenities. The rooms are spacious and have everything you may need for a short or long stay. The service is outstanding, the staff is super nice and welcoming. The breakfast is complementary for sleeping guests, and it's really good both in quantity and quality. I stayed there two times and really enjoyed it, it will be my hotel of choice whenever I need to stay overnight in that area. Highly recommend! :)”

“We went to the Kings Arms to celebrate my daughter's birthday. My husband and I had never visited before; however, it is local to my daughter and her partner and they had highly recommended the food and cocktails. We all had a fabulous meal and delightful cocktails. I always choose a salad, if it is interesting and different, not just lettuce, cucumber and tomato. This did not disappoint, especially with the addition of two sea bass fillets. We left feeling extremely happy and very full, we will definitely return, thank you! ☺️”

“Booked our annual Christmas group night out of 15 friends after a previous outing a couple of years ago which was excellent, and found this years outing was even better .We all ordered food from the Christmas menu the food was fantastic especially the Pork belly main course and Toffe Apple Choux dessert. The waiters were very attentive ,friendly and efficient. A great night out and very reasonable prices , will definitely return again .”
