A fabulous Aladin's Cave of everything you didn't realise you needed, there really is everything from hardware, to gardening to pets, to knitting, to crafts, cards, and snacks. Add in the wonderful service and encyclopedic knowledge of the staff and you have the perfect shop for pros, amateurs and emergencies, as well as a lovely place to see what takes your fancy. Altogether a brilliant store that I will definitely go back to.”

I don't know if they still do it, but you used to be able to buy a bag of floating bird feed to take down to the river nearby, sold in a paper bag for a £1. I highly recommend Homecrafts in Caversham. ***EDIT*** It's still a brilliant shop. Floating bird food is now £2.50 in a paper bag to go feed the river or pond birds. You can buy a sack for £8. There's a good selection of bird food towards the back of the store or in plastic buckets inside the store, towards the front. There was a cheerful, helpful chap serving today (Thursday) in the shop. I had a little wander about while I was in there. It's such a great shop. There are so many useful products.”

Caters for virtually everything that you need, and if they haven't got it in stock, as I say, they can get it for you. Staff are always knowledgeable, helpful and friendly”

I came in to get a specific drill bit to drill out an M8 stud, they were friendly enough to talk about why i was in, then actually recommended one even more appropriately sized and knew exactly why it was that size and what it was for. In the modern world of internet sites, and big chain stores, this kind of expertise, customer service, and stock on the shelf is actually very rare. They got me out of a fix. Apart from that it's an aladdins cave, and anyone who fixes their own car, could easily spend thousands in there.”

One lovely gentlemen who works for toolstaton offered to lend us some junk leads but unfortunately no one could jump us. We got hold of the AA. He wait. He then came out and offered us a coffee whilst we waited. He deserves some serious recognition. He went above and beyond.”
