“My partner and I have just had our wedding ceremony and party at the Bateman's mill, I must say, everything set up absolutely perfectly, we even had a huge hog roast on the spit, the function room set up was planned perfectly with space for the singers and room to shake the tail feather. “We go in at lunchtime on a Friday! Steak pie is a favourite however we've sample alot of the menu and it's all excellent. Staff are welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Can get busy when sports events are on so would recommend booking a table”

“Called in last night for a mid week treat and we were not dissapointed. Just the two of us arrived around 7pm without a booking. They were pretty busy but after 5 minutes sat in the bar our table was ready. Probably worth booking next time to be sure. All the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was gorgeous. I couldn't get over how quickly the food was coming out, all freshly cooked and piping hot. I liked the Salt & Pepper wings especially, crispy and spicy. The portion sizes are small, but in a GOOD way, because you can pace yourself and get a good variety of dishes in. I wanted to take more pictures but I got too into the eating! Will definitely be going back!”

Friendly service and you can see how much pride they have got, If there was just one negative it's the fact the queue to get served is right outside the door!!! Not really. “This is what a pub is supposed to be like. Great service from the moment we stepped in. Moretti on tap. Magic. Good atmosphere, busy, country pub. The food is exceptional and proper home style cooking. You don't get that these days with all that boil in the bag ding dinners they serve at chains. Battered cod and chips was excellent. Liver and onions, pies, braising steak. Range of desserts. Very reasonably priced. I mean, it's where you go for a great meal. Thank you Alan and Tracey.”

Recently moved to clowne and we heard about dolphin and it did not dissapoint! “Stayed in suite 10 for one night, it was ready early and we were allowed late checkout too. Staff were lovely and really helpful, the rooms were really spacious and clean, lovely terrace too! Bed was really comfortable and massive. Fan provided in the room. Bar and restaurant were lovely and the breakfast was fantastic with a lovely selection. Close to the car boot as literally next door! Don't be put off by the motorway noise as there was none! Will definitely stay again”
