“Popped into Penkhull Hardware & Joinery the other day looking for a bolt, didn’t think much of it, just one of those quick jobs. They didn’t have the exact size I needed in stock, but instead of just sending me on my way, he grabbed a longer bolt and cut it down to size for me there and then, after a few attempts we got the size we needed. Honestly, that sort of service is rare these days. It’s a proper old school DIY shop, the kind you don’t see much of anymore. Helpful, friendly, and actually wants to help you get the job done rather than just sell you something off the shelf. Shame there aren’t more little independent places like this about.
