“Excellent pharmacy. If I have to wait I can just look around the store. Sometimes they have been short staffed, but hey, life happens, there is no need to be rude to the staff . The staff have never been anything but helpful to me and my husband, going above and beyond sometimes to phone and check on the medication he has been prescribed. Sometimes their advice is much clearer than the rushed consultation with the doctor. Just remember they probably know as much if not more than your doctor about the drug and it's uses and side effects, they are after all specialists in pharmacology. I am so glad we have this in store, my previous pharmacy took ages every time and there was no where to wait safely.”

“What a good experience!! Seen promptly by Steven Edge for a learning disability check for my daughter. Steve was so respectful, friendly, polite, thoughtful and kind. He spoke clearly and simply so that my daughter could understand, she remained calm and cooperative throughout for the whole half hour. Steve spoke to a doctor to prescribe antibiotics. Trivia phoned from the surgery within the hour to say the prescription was at the chemist. Absolute excellent service!!”

“For over 10 years I've used this pharmacy and I've never had any trouble, the staff are always polite to me. Repeat prescriptions take at least a week or more to be processed, you can often see big piles of prescriptions in boxes behind the counter, which shows how constantly busy it is and how hard the staff work. If I'm low on important medication they will do their best to get it sorted, and if that's not possible recommend where to go and who can help.”

“From start to finish I had the most amazing experience. Called at 9am for an implant removal and the receptionist got me an appointment for 1pm the same day. The lady who removed my implant was possibly the kindest nurse I have ever met, so calm, talked to me to distract me, explained what she was going to do and I didn’t feel a thing. I didn’t feel judged, I felt safe. As someone with OCD, I find medical things cause me to feel extremely anxious, but this was the first time I went into a hospital setting and didn’t have a panic attack. Thank you!!!”

Since the ‘takeover’ things seem to have changed dramatically. The reception staff are incredibly attentive and will bend over backwards to try to accommodate our needs . When we have needed an emergency appointment we always get one , when we need a prescription it’s always put through promptly . We do have various problems with our children and their acute medical needs but nothing is ever too much trouble . I have never experienced a practice as good as this ! “I’ve read many of the reviews of the Ashcombe Centre, and I can understand why some people have felt let down. My main takeaway, though, is that mental health services in this area are severely underfunded and not sufficiently supported to meet the growing demand. My own interactions with the Ashcombe Centre didn’t get off to the best start. I often felt like the ball in a China vs South Korea Olympic Mixed Doubles Ping Pong Final — bounced rapidly between GP, Crisis Team, CMHT, Adult ADHD, back to Crisis, and so on. It was an impressive rally, but I eventually landed in the CMHT side of the court. Mental health is a profoundly complex area of medicine, and I completely understand that I wasn’t an easy case to assess or support. But after being under the CMHT for several weeks now, I honestly can’t praise them enough. The professionals I’ve worked with have shown exceptional warmth, empathy, understanding, effort, and professionalism. What makes that even more impressive is the reality that they’re working under immense pressure, with limited resources and overwhelming caseloads. Despite that, they still manage to treat people with care, respect, and genuine humanity. It’s clear they go above and beyond what the system allows them to do. For anyone finding themselves frustrated while engaging with services, my advice would be: try to see the people behind the process. They’re not the enemy — they’re fighting an uphill battle within an underfunded system, and your openness, honesty, and patience can make a real difference in how effectively they can help you. I feel genuinely fortunate to have been placed with clinicians who have the experience and insight to unpick a complex mix of co-morbid factors and help me feel truly understood”
