“So nice to get back to our local. Food is still fabulous and we felt very safe. They have gone to a lot of trouble to comply with regulations. Plenty of space and I loved eating in the big hall looking at a remarkable view.”
“Great food at fantastic prices and excellent service. The staff are also lovely and friendly. I would highly recomend this wee place.”
“Great wee pub with good staff. Always welcomed and good laugh.”
“I'm a Portadown fan and we booked hospitality for 30 people from our local club Richhill Reds. Always very well looked after, decent food and excellent staff, we will definitely be back. Well done Crusaders for giving us a great welcome.”
“Fantastic bar lots of quirky areas great music well worth a visit.”
“Great wine shop. Lovely varied range of wines from around the world. The staff are knowledgable and friendly. Always a good deal to be had.”
“Tremendous Bar , lovely warm fire , excellent staff and of course great company. Far and away better than those bars in Sligo”
“The staff in this hotel are the nicest friendliest people. Also the rooms are cosy and the food is nice but the staff were just so lovely”
“We had a fantastic night here for our party/family of 8 for our 40th Anniversary the staff were excellent and made sure everything went smoothly as my daughter had been over prior to our visit with a few extra requests. Fab family 3 course meal.”
“Had a great time here staff were lovely and food was great atmosphere very good a quality experience parking was no problem will be back”
“Popular and warmly welcoming bar/restaurant at Ormeau - Belfast South. Tempting but still not pricey menu, friendly staff, well chilled Guinness and more craft samples on tap. Good live music on regular basis. Can be pretty busy during weekends so resevation is recommended.”
“Probably one of the coolest pubs I’ve been to, as I immediately fell in love with the vintage gas lamps & the old TVs giving it a lovely atmosphere! It smelt of wood oven pizza and it had lots of areas either quiet or for large groups! Would love to come back!”
“This is my favourite after work bar in Belfast, the staff are incredible, it's as if there is a bug magnet in my pocket pulling me towards it for a wee pint, gigs upstairs as well as brewery on the top floor which also serves pizza”
“Absolutely loved it here, lots of different food stalls so loads of choice on what to eat, I opted for the taco’s from Sicario’s, which were huge and really tasty. The only downside in my opinion is there aren’t enough bars inside which means you can queue for a while. Great atmosphere inside and really good vibe around the place, well worth a visit!”
“We just love this honest wholesome bar. The punters are welcoming and a good sort. The drink is always tasty and flowing while not damaging your pocket. Juke box on point and the atmosphere is generally what keeps you there for just one more, or two.”
“Friendly people, happy to chat about the Dubliners with an ancient fan. Guinness as it should be served.”
“There are truly no words in the Oxford dictionary to depict this experience I have just been accustomed to. Truly stupendous. If the word Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious was ever applicable to a scenario it would be this experience for me. Mojito and Colly the men you are. Fantastic. Would recommend this bar to my friends family enemies and everyone in between. 6 stars.”
“I haven't been in eight south for some time, and I can't remember why that was so, because after having a lovely family dinner for 5 last Saturday, I will certainly be back again soon. Great food, excellent service, and more than satisfactory prices made our visit an absolute pleasure. Yes Saturday afternoon is quieter than busy times like Friday or Saturday evening, but from my visit last week, I cannot recommend eight south any more highly.”
“Went here for the Sunday sharing roast board and it was delicious. We went for the rump board and the lamb board. I personally wouldn’t choose lamb but this one definitely trumped the rump. Between us we had the mushroom starter it was full of flavour, the chicken wings had loads of meat and the vegetable tarts which initially wouldn’t have been something I would have went for it was super tasty. Every waiter and waitress were very attentive, friendly and provided five star service, fantastic service.”
“Called in for a couple of drinks super Guiness and delightful glass of wine, friendly staff and warm atmosphere. Many Thanks Paul & Lynn.”
“First class service. Chef even came out to discuss part of our order. We were here in belfast supporting a lady we look after & she has specific dietary requirements. Will definitely be back before we go back to scotland on sunday.”
“Really enjoyed lunch here today. Huge starter portions. Burger proper tasty. Drinks a little slow but overall I would definitely revisit. (Think I would book next time as very busy and we were fortunate to get fitted in without one!)”
“Brilliant food and atmosphere, also serving a lovely cider called angry orchid. Went back the next day for another pint!”
“Lovely pub, live music every day. Guiness pour was nice and a wide selction of other draughts.”
“Great place, tasty food. Our server was the absolute best! Very friendly and helpful and we never had to wait long. We came in on a Friday evening, music was sort of loud, which we would have expected. However, another table asked for the music to be pumped up even further, and at that point we were unable to hold a conversation. We wanted desert originally but then decided to leave as it was a bit too much. Would have easily been 5 stars otherwise - definitely recommend!”
“Nestled in Belfast’s vibrant heart, The Cloth Ear is a pub that doesn’t just serve food and drinks—it delivers a downright love letter to your senses. The menu is a culinary hug, with dishes so delectable they could make a stoic Ulster fry weep with joy. The lamb stew tastes like it was crafted by angels moonlighting as chefs, every bite is a revelation. The service? Unmatched doesn’t even cover it—think of the staff as your new best mates who somehow anticipate your every need with a wink and a smile. Whether you’re sipping a pint or savoring their sticky toffee pudding, The Cloth Ear wraps you in warmth and wit, making you wonder why you’d ever dine anywhere else. Five stars, and I’m already plotting my return.”
“Amazing Cocktail masterclass by Weronika and Aideen for my best friend's hen do! They were so patient and made it so much fun! Would definitely come back!!”
“Great food at a reasonable price, the burger and chicken burger were both massive and really well prepared. Our server was very efficient and friendly. The place is very spacious and has a pool table and gaming machines. They also have a large screen for football and sports for when events are showing. Good coffee also”
“Fantastic old school traditional pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Over the four nights we used here the crowd were very civilized, no shouting or swearing. The Guinness is top quality and up there with the best in Belfast.”
“Old shool music and always busy. Michael is a great owner who will always go the extra mile for anything needed. Some great drink offers and if you pass on a saturday daytime pop in for a cocktail. Good weather the windows open at the front and its always busy!!”
