“I've waited several months before I wrote this review. Been several times now and each time every pizza and corresponding toppings have all been well balanced, flavourful and perfectly cooked. It's an open kitchen, so you can see them at work too ! They may not have a fancy pants, copper glad 100 thousand pound oven.... but what they do have is passion, creativity and a respect for ingredients. I watch them handle those dough pucks, light and pillowy with real life in it. Don't expect thick bases etc...you have to appreciate their particular style and allow the flavours and Chewiness of the dough to make your taste buds tingle. I love the simple, yet well thought out interior which reflects the chefs personality. The service is very friendly and non-judgemental. The team work well together and are very helpful. The atmosphere is great and they have a well thought out drinks selection. I'm not sure what else I can say, suffice to say it's a real Gem, worth a special journey for sure ! They are also quite flexible if you want to substitute bases etc. It's one of the best pizza joints in the Yorkshire for sure. Obviously from my review, you will have noted that I'm a Pizza lover !”

“I have been getting sushi at Sushi Hometown for the past year/ year and half, and they absolutely have never disappointed. Consistently the best sushi around. If you eat in, the food is presented on the plates so beautifully, which honestly are quite the masterpieces. This never fails to add to the experience. Also - the friendliest of staff at the counter and you always get a warm welcome with lots of smiles. All in all I could not recommend Sushi Hometown more.”

“Absolutely delicious sushi! I've been searching for a good sushi restaurant around here, usually I have to go to the cities to find anything decent and then it's pretty basic stuff but good. This place is miles ahead, fresh, not fishy or chewy, the sauces and garnishes on rolls are delicious and makes each roll better. Will absolutely be coming back to get more!”

“Asalamualykum, the food I had today was amazing alhamdullilah. The burger was so fresh, delicious and refreshing. It's not at all like the burgers you get from all these places where it's sloppy and ruining the thing. The burger buns were toasted to perfection and was so nice and fluffy. The patty it's self was out of this world juicy and packed with flavour. Not to mention the fresh lettuce and caramelised onions which took the whole thing to another level. The curly fries were perfect too with a nice firm crunchy outer layer but nice soft potatoey inside. Alhamdullilah very pleased with the meal. The bomb is the best burger l've had in a long time and will definitely want it again soon & Also to add the burger was not full of grease like other burgers and the bun wasn't wet and sloppy like other burgers too everything was perfect”

“Decided to book a table for a family celebration for 6 and it didn’t disappoint! We opted for the tapas and choose several dishes, nearly everything on the menu, with our faves being the Gambas with garlic, the Heuvos Rotos, Grilled rump steak and the Rose Harissa & lemon chicken thighs. We finished off with churros, the Basque cheesecake, Tarte de Santiago and coffees. Every dish that came out looked vibrant and was as good to eat as it looked. The dishes were brought out staggered so you weren’t overfaced with everything at once and gave us chance to try the plates before another dish was brought. A fabulous little place with great food and a great atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.”

From the moment we stepped through the door, he greeted us like old friends and immediately swept us up in his world of sizzling steaks and global culinary flair. Having worked in kitchens all over the world, Sonny brings a depth of experience that turns dinner into theatre. He personally guided us through the hot rock cooking method, with the kind of enthusiasm that makes you think, “Why haven’t I been cooking my steak on a lava slab all my life?” As someone who’s worked in the meat trade, I can say without hesitation — this man knows his stuff, and then some. We both went for the sirloin (by recommendation) — a bold choice, but one that paid off in juicy, buttery dividends. Sonny’s homemade infused butters (think garlic, herb, and something unidentifiably magical) gave us the tools to elevate the experience from “bit of fun” to “culinary revelation.” The novelty of cooking your own steak at the table was quickly eclipsed by the incredible flavours — tender, perfectly seasoned, and sizzling with satisfaction. What started as a quirky night out turned into one of the best meals we’ve had in ages. And just when we thought we couldn’t possibly be more impressed, out came that deconstructed cheesecake. “Popped in today with my elderly friend who has a bit of dementia and can be a bit of a handful. The staff were so lovely and patient with her, even closing the door when she was cold, and helping her with her coat. The food was amazing and I am absolutely going to be back. Tip: the rose coffee is sublime!”

“We have just moved into the area and have been trying to find a place that can offer quality Indian food at a reasonable price with good service included. We have definitely food it at Nawabi Baildon. The friendliness of Ali who took our order was a breath of fresh air compared with what we ate used to where we used to live. The driver (sorry didn’t get his name) was also so friendly. The food came when promised and the popadoms and pickle tray were very fresh. The onion bhajis were to die for and the curry that i had recommended was perfect taste served ‘Asian style.’ Just right for me. We are happy to have found our regular weekly curry.”

“Had wonderful Saturday lunch time, special menu: food, coffee and a glass of wine for £18.95. (extra it's not cheap) The menu features a range of classic Italian dishes with signature of "Italian calabrese taste"...even a little bit adapted.(pasta a little overcooked and lots of sauce). Nice personal introduction from a member of team , who explained the dishes of the day to everybody. Staff friendly. The place is rather small inside, but we enjoyed the atmosphere outside table. We will visit again in the future.”

“It was my first time trying it and I was blown away by the flavours. I opted for the regular falafel wrap and it was stunning, not too spicy and not too bland. The vast medley of vegetables they use are packed full of flavour, not to mention the sauces and the hummus. The falafels themselves are made right in front of you and you can really taste that freshness. I also got a pineapple and strawberry juice and it was just as delicious, the juices are also made to order with the fresh ingredients and you could really taste how organic it was.”

“A massive choice of amazing sandwich of all sorts, wrap, panini's, bread sandwiches rolls. Today I had Jamaican Jerk chicken toasted wrap and it was amazing. It was a shame I don't live local otherwise I would be there everyday. Can't recommend enough and will be visiting next time im in Halifax which may end up being sooner rather than later to have a good lunch :) super friendly lady that works there too. It did only seem to be a takeaway sandwich shop rather than somewhere you eat in.”

“We just returned from a wonderful lunch and afternoon at Upfront Art Venue. The puppet show was absolutely delightful, and the venue itself is charming and intimate. The staff were incredibly welcoming and generously shared their knowledge of puppetry, which made the experience even more special. It’s truly a hidden gem in the area. The café offers an excellent selection of vegetarian dishes, all equally delicious. Everything looked freshly made, and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended!”
