“I recently travelled from Canada to the UK for my sister-in-law's wedding. I brought a frock with me but wasn't entirely pleased with the fit. On a whim, I popped into Hobbs, Brighton, on a 'just in case I see something' basis. Well, thank goodness for Lorraine. In the end, I threw myself on her mercy: "Please help!" Having lost my shopping 'eye' some time ago, I asked Lorraine to suggest some things for me and ended up trying on quite a few different dresses, jackets and so on. Including things I would not have picked out for myself. Lorraine displayed the patience of a saint and, when I asked her for it, gave me her honest opinion about what looked best. In the end, it came down to two options (both gorgeous and very flattering). I um'd and ah'd until I remembered that the joy of being a menopausal woman - who can't make a decision and has long since forgotten how to shop - is that I could afford to buy both. Many thanks to Lorraine, and her lovely colleague whose name I didn't get, for such friendly kindness and expert advice.”

“Firstly my apologies for taking so long to say thank you to you all but specifically to David. We came to Brighton in the summer on the hunt for a new suit, as we had a number of Weddings coming up and I was in dire need of a new suit. We tried a few other places before arriving at Woodies. As we walked in we were warmly greeted by David who you could tell straight away was experienced honest and knew his profession inside and out. David patiently listened to what I had in mind and diplomatically guided me to what David recommended for my skin tone and eye colour. He was of course 100% correct and after trying a few suits I then followed his original recommendation, which he made within minutes of meeting. I tried it on and it was perfect. It took a while to get used to accepting that the person in the mirror looking back at me was in fact me! I am not used to wearing suits and to wear and own one that is of this quality and suited to my skin tone and eye colour, I feel a very lucky man to have decided to walk into Woodies that day. David went on to pair the suit with a lovely ivory shirt, a tan suede leather belt and a beautiful Liberty tie and pocket square to complete the ensemblé. I could not be happier with the customer service we received from David and for dressing me in my new suit. We are now two Weddings in and I have had so many compliments from friends and complete strangers and it’s all thanks to Woodies and especially David. I love my new suit and feel great whenever I wear it. I cannot thank you enough and will continue to recommend the team at Woodies to anyone looking for an experienced safe pair of hands with decades of experience behind them. You can put your complete faith in them. A heartfelt thank you.”

The colour of one pair was not in stock, was ordered for delivery at home and with me within a couple of days. The other shoes were in stock and taken home. The very friendly member of staff was helpful in locating size 13 trainers that were on the shelf and checking on the system if a steel-toe cap trainer was available in 13 too. A very good store. “I go in this shop now and then they alway do special offers in their and prices are reasonable at the moment they have a great number of xmas items on the shelves all different Santa's elves reindeer i bought a small data figure and another santa soap dispenser only £2.50 and the other figure £3 would make great presents for people the store has a mixture of clothes toys cologne after shave perfumes kitchenalia sweets etc the shop is on ground level the girl that served me was so helpful and smiling naturally seemed to enjoy her job....Easy access to shop but parking can be a bit tricky but apart from that all very good.”

“Finally visited the shop in person, and they had a great end of year sale going on! High quality, long lasting and stylish shoes and boots... I love the airseal shoes and boots particularly. The material breathes and wears just like leather, but nothing died to make them! I've tried other brands, but these are a million times better and can be re-soled (if they ever wear out). Would love to see some airseal stack soles shoes.”
