“Wow. What a fantastic pub. New to Cardiff and stumbled upon this little gem for Sunday lunch. Ate at the bar rather than in the dining room as I had my dog with me, but ate off the same menu. And what a menu. In a world where food for a lot of pubs is heated in a microwave, you should be more like this pub instead. Fantastic and huge sunday roast with lots of trimmings. The football was on the big screen in the bar, but that didn't detract from the atmosphere. And the lady who served us at the bar was friendly. funny and helpful. My only gripe is I can only give this place 5 stars!”

“I visited the Macintosh last week and had a lovely time, and the food was delicious, and it was good value for money for sure. I was particularly impressed with one of the staff who bent over backwards to look after myself and my partner, his name was Keri and was so professional and made us feel really welcome, looking forward to going back, hopefully when Keri is working again.”

“Lovely meal at the cricketers. Beautiful historic building with beer garden on cathedral road. . Walk in and got a table but would recommend booking as it was busy. Food was delicious, Service and staff were excellent. Enjoyed it very much.”

“Stopped by here on a day out in Cardiff in the afternoon. The prices were very reasonable considering it’s in the heart of the city centre and there’s a good selection of food to choose from. Onto the food, very tasty and served hot. Also there wasn’t much of a wait at all - it was quite busy but the staff seemed to be very efficient. On top of this efficiency was great service. A blonde lady served us food and drinks and she was very warm and friendly. Will definitely come back here next time I’m in Cardiff.”

“Stopped in for a drink, I had the strawberry milkshake which was lovely! The staff were really friendly and service was quick. The milkshake itself was a little on the expensive side but was absolutely gorgeous so worth the extra money if you’re looking for a good milkshake!”

“Beautiful beautiful place, worth a getaway and recoup with nearby places to visit including pubs restaurants supermarkets etc you can drive to and from and a lovely walk along the sea wall. The views are amazing, a great place to relax in the sun and a nice firepit to end the night while star gazing! The hosts were amazing, so friendly and helpful, thank you ! Will definitely come again! ”

“Attended a party in the large function room upstairs. It was clean, spacious and welcoming. No wheelchair access upstairs, but it does have a bar with a few basic drinks. More drinks available downstairs.”

“Lots of choice, the main issue is that there are far too many items without prices. Making the experience of shopping quite annoying. I usually put unpriced items back on the shelf. The manager needs to get this matter sorted as soon as possible, it's losing them sales.”

“Great shop with a large variety of products of such good value. Good selection of things from homeware to cosmetics to a seasonal aisle. If something is out of stock, it's usually out of stock for a while in store which is annoying but they do have a click and collect service to ensure anything you want is for sure there, if you want to use that”

“Beautiful pub in a lovely location. My children had three courses which were very well proportioned and they really enjoyed everything they had. Me and my partner had the Sunday roasts which were absolutely stunning. I also had the chocolate fondant for dessert which was gorgeous! Amazing food, brilliant service from all the staff and a lovely atmosphere. Will definitely be visiting again. My daughter even asked if we could go there for all our food!! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. A big thank you to Jamie on reception, who was incredibly friendly and polite – he made us feel instantly welcome and set the tone for a fantastic stay. Our room was stunning – beautifully decorated, spacious, and spotlessly clean. The highlight was definitely the spa bath in the room, which added a luxurious and relaxing touch to our evening. It was the perfect way to unwind. We also had the chance to dine at the hotel’s restaurant, and the food was nothing short of amazing. Every dish was full of flavour and beautifully presented. Special mention goes to restaurant managers Haley and Sam T, who were both outstanding – attentive, professional, and clearly passionate about delivering a great dining experience. All in all, The Coal Exchange exceeded our expectations in every way. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!”
