βI am so very sad to see this wonderful practice close. Since 2017 they have cared for my dogs in such a professional, kind and caring manner. Marj Edwards in particular has treated some of mine with homeopathy alongside conventional medicine, actually allowing my whippet, Rupert, to enjoy eleven comfortable months following a terminal cancer diagnosis in 2017. My heartfelt thanks goes out to Marj and also to Rhian who was so kind when I had to make the decision to have my greyhound, Wilson, put to sleep only four days after he became ill so suddenly. Of course I hope more than anything to see the practice reopen and will return immediately. However Marj Edwards will be a hard act to follow. Thank you Marj for seven years of outstanding veterinary care. Thank you too from my current two, Guinness and Adrian.β
βBrought our 2 new puppies here for their second vaccinations. All staff we encountered were so lovely, the vet was great with them, and the appointment went without a hitch. Not only is it close to where we live, so that is great, they do a healthcare plan too. 10/10 recommend to everyone. :-)β
βLovely vets, made my little girl feel so comfortable she gets excited to go now! Update: I got my dog spayed here, and I cannot thank the lovely lady who discharged her enough. When dropping her off in the morning, she explained everything I needed to know. When I picked her up she went through everything, answered all the questions I had, and didnβt make me feel silly for being emotional. My little dog is my whole world, and after some previous dogs of mine had bad experiences with the vets they went to I was very nervous about this process. The staff here are wonderful, and I wouldnβt dream of taking her anywhere else. Thank you all for looking after my little Gwenllian β₯οΈβ

βMy chihuahua always looks a billion dollars after coming to the groom room here. Also staff are extremely gifted with their knowledge of pets. Shout out to Jodi who gave me fab advice about pet nutrition and helped my dog with flea repellent. Β£4 a month to treat your pet and you never have to worry about fleas again!β
βI brought my dog to Vets4Pets Newport Road after a rough experience at another vet in Cardiff. There are a few things I appreciate about this hospital: - The vets are skilled with good bedside manner, and I was impressed that they offer sonography, radiology, and orthopaedics. They also take the time to talk through your pets care with you and make sure that you understand everything. - They offer emergency services. Although my dog's case was pushed back a day, they helped another pup with an urgent surgery. I am from the States, and these cases nearly always get bumped to emergency clinics and speciality hospitals. - They respect my knowledge as a licensed vet nurse in the States. Other vets dismissed any concerns or knowledge I had of vet med. I've been in the field for 16 years, and I am a skilled nurse, so I appreciate that being recognized. - Their prices are reasonable. - Most of the staff handled it well when I was upset when my old dog's case was deferred to the following week (there may be some lingering irritation with me from some staff, but that is okay). The only issue I had was with an estimate being a little off, but that happens in vet med. They were able to fix some things to honor the price they quoted me.β
βWe cant thank the team at Valley Vets enough for taking care of our boy and us, at a really difficult time. The team were so caring and compassionate, they treated our dog as their own. Forever grateful for how they acted in his last moments.β
βTook my dog here 23/12. Excellent service, kind an very helpful at a very stressful timeβ
βI have been with Richard and Vale Vets for the last 10 years and I have had nothing but a great service throughout those years. More recently this past December my dog Lexi who is now 13 years old went in for a general check of health, but Richard discovered a mass growing in her stomach. It was not looking good for Lexi as she was an older dog. We didn't know how she was going to react to surgery, we didn't know whether or not she would survive the anesthetic and we did know how much of the mass had integrated into the rest of her body. We made the decision to go ahead with the surgery to give Lexi the best chance of surviving. Richard and his team went above and beyond to care for Lexi and I could never have asked for a greater group of people to care for her. Somehow Richard managed to remove a two kilogram mass from Lexi, Lexi only being 18 kilogram to start with. The surgery was successful and Lexi had come out of the anesthetic. We went in to the surgery to meet with Richard and to see Lexi for the first time, we were given all of the options where it was a 50/50 chance whether or not Lexi would survive the night and we made the decision that we would care for her at home regardless of the outcome, which we had the full support of Richard and his team and again I echo that they were amazing and went above and beyond their job and they there responsibilities. Richard didn't have to do this but he kept in touch with me. He was about to go on holiday with his family, but he kept in touch with me all the way through the night to make sure that Lexi was still going strong. Lexi made it through the night. Lexi was back at the surgery the next day to have a check up, watching her walk back into the building was one of the proudest things I've seen that old dog do. She was greeted with affection from everybody and by this time everybody had heard the story of Lexi and everyone was truly amazed that she had pulled through what was a horrific surgery. We are now three months on and Lexi is doing better than ever. She is running around with our kids, still thinking she is still a puppy. Lexi would not be here if it wasn't for Richard and the team at Barry Vale Vets. We could never thank you all enough.β

βA massive thank you to Alicia for your help and support through the behaviourist service. I cannot get over the difference in Pablo's behaviour - he is so less reactive and responds so well to me now. The advice has been really clear and easy to follow with regular check in sessions and lots of support. I cannot recommend Alicia enough - thank you so much for your help!β
βReally friendly staff. Dogs didn't even realise they were in a vets! Excellent care for both pets and humans.β
βJust fantastic. Our dog injured a paw and was really suffering. A phone call secured an appointment (as and/or when) We took him to the practice and he was seen and treated within 20 minutes. Every member of staff were sympathetic and really helpful. Brilliant.β
βExcellent vet practice in every way. would recommend highly. We have two cats and a tortise under their care and we are so happy to have found a practice who treat clients, both animal and human, with absolute respect and professionalism. Great also to find a vet who really knows about tortoise care and husbandry.β
βBoth of my cats, Dandelion and Burdock are patients at this vets. They are always cared for with the utmost respect and friendliness. Whenever I have any worried or queries they are happy to answer any questions or give advice with a simple phone call. My little Burdock recently had spay surgery, she was cared for wonderfully and has had one of her two post operations and she is healing up beautifully. I love this vet service, they sent her home with pain relief, something that I didn't have with my boy when we were at a different vet. The prices are also amazing, very affordable treatments. My sister recommended this vets to me as her dog goes there and I jumped ship to this vets without a moment's thought, and I'm glad I did. First class service, friendly staff and always happy to help. 5 stars and I would certainly recommend vets4pets blackwood to family and friends.β
βVery friendly reception and a lovely vet. A very positive experience and well worth the visitβ
βI've put my cat in my parents' home for now. This vet has helped me and my cat a lot in the past year. My cat was spayed and neutered here.Astor has been very healthy and has only contracted conjunctivitis once and had a very small patch of shedding on his legs. The vet and other staff at this shop have been very friendly and patient, responding to emails promptly and providing me with all the paperwork I need. The vet is always busy. I always wanted the best for Astor. And I feel necessary to give them a favourable review.β

βCannot stress how incredible the staff have all been during our recent trips. My 9 week old kitten recently became very ill and, as first time pet owners, we were really unsure and scared. The staff have been so kind, helpful and accommodating. At no point have i ever been made to feel stupid or like a bad owner for not knowing things, nor have they been condescending in any way. Theyve always explained things theyre doing and their thinking of what could be wrong. Its been a bit challenging as we havent been able to diagnose what the illness is, but i in no way blame the service for that, unfortunately sometimes it is that way. But thanks to the vets and nurses doing a great job supporting us and out kitten shes improving day by day! I phone the clinic each day to give an update on how our kitten is doing and every time they always seem so delighted to hear how shes progressing. Due to our kitten being so young her insurance isnt active yet, meaning all of this we were paying out of pocket. The staff have been incredible with this too. Theyve made sure everything they do has been within the means of what we can afford whilst still trying to solve the problem, theyve made us aware of all the options we have such as finance plans etc. and even then, i think the prices have been incredible. I was expecting to pay a LOT, and realistically weve spent less than a fraction of what i was told by friends to expect. The prices are great. All in all, id definitely recommend this vet and im so glad we chose this clinic! Bit of a long review but i really feel these staff deserve all the praise they can receive, im aware theyre βjust doing their jobsβ but i really feel like theyve gone above and beyond in regards to making us feel comfortable and supported :)β
βVery kind and sympathetic to my Labrador, who is not the easiest of patients! The reminders about meds and appointments are very useful too.β
βGreat people, very quiet spot, good prices and my cats love itβ
