“Amazing fish and chips and one of the best battered sausages I’ve ever had. Start off with the fish, fresh Grimsby fish so soft and tender melts in your mouth with a light thin crispy batter which doesn’t stick to the paper either! Next the chips are probably the best chippy chips I’ve had on a consistent level, they burn my fingers upon first touch and the steam that’s built up inside just makes the chips almost break into mash, lovely and soft every single time! Now the battered sausages, 90% of the time have been wonderfully crisp on the outside and steaming hot on inside, very good quality proper pork chippy sausage. Lastly forgot to mention it’s probably around 20% cheaper then most high street chippies, £2 battered sausages, £5 massive huge enough to feed 7 easy large chips(around 8 scoops) and £7 for the extra large haddock or cod. Forgot to mention the very authentic chippy curry sauce made to absolute perfection 100% of the time!£1.40 for a large! This place is a little gem I’d travel 20+ miles for this everytime it’s bang on! Thanks guys - Nick”

“We arrived very late at night after traveling. The desk clerk was very helpful and got us checked in quickly. The room was small but spotlessly clean with a modern bathroom. For me personally the bed was too firm, but that's personal choice as my husband found it comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. I had two perfect fried eggs cooked fresh for me. I asked a young girl assistant if they did them. Nothing was too much trouble. All the staff in the restaurant were lovely. All the offerings were tasty and fresh. On checking out another young man checked us out, again very efficient and pleasant.”

The bar area is a lovely place to go to for eats and drinks and if you need to you can stay in the hotel too. The Jacobean is in very pleasant surroundings. If you decide to try the outside seating, you can see the countryside area called Coundon Wedge which is a lovely place to go to for a walk. There are wooded areas there, fields and a stream, all of which is beautiful. The Jacobean Hotel in this lovely area, is highly recommended.”

I was stood looking for a drink and after a bit of light hearted banter, he asked me what I was looking for.
