Fine dining restaurant in Derby

“I've been put off from ordering due to negative reviews for some time but tonight thought I'd just give it a go So I'm specifically looking for freshly grilled chicken and lamb on the skewer over a flame grill. Something I used to get at TJs in Leicester many moons ago. The key elements for me is never old meat sitting in a bain Marie and the option for grilled onions and peppers. So here's what you get. The most succulent, delicious and perfectly barbecued chicken and lamb straight off the skewer. Perfectly marinated and cooked fresh. The option of grilled peppers and onions and absolutely incredibly delicious barbecued mushrooms for just only £2 extra. The naan bread was soft and delicious and perfectly crisp on the outside. Generous portion of salad and delicious. Slightly crispy but perfectly pickled peppers. Food arrived. Piping hot and can only wait at 10 out of 10. This is by far my new favourite kebab place in Derby. We will be ordering again!”

“We were visiting Tutbury, and stumbled across this lovely café. We only had drinks but even those were nice. The caramel latte is my favourite ☕ The staff were helpful and friendly. The toilets are on the left hand side of the café, and we're spacious and clean. I would recommend this café.”

“I came here on Wednesday, as it’s always somewhere I walked past every week and I’ve always meant to try it out. The staff are so so lovely, their service was stellar and so welcoming which was 100% appreciated! The food was delicious (I had an Italian sandwich) and beautifully presented, when my friends saw my food they even said they’d have to try it the next time we go :)!”

“I found plenty to eat as a vegan. The food was very tasty, high quality, beautifully presented, good portion sizes and good value for money. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean. I’d recommend it to everyone!”

“From just looking at the menu the food seems really basic and overpriced and I do find it difficult to justify spending £9.95 on lunch (with the small portion option) but while the ingredients are simple the portion you get for small is filling and as they say the ingredients truly are fresh and delicious. My favourites were the daal and hot potatoes. The main protein I had, chicken breast, seemed bland at first glance but actually tasted very good. Unfortunately I forgot to take additional pictures below the top layer. I think I'd only get this for lunch on special occasions but I think I would get the better value medium for dinner more often, I can't imagine finishing a medium bowl in one sitting. 2: I finally found an excuse to go again and it was really good. I had the salmon this time, which cost £2.50 extra ! It was quite good, a touch fishy. I had the daal, chicken curry, beef rice thingy. It was all quite filling and good.”

“Drove into town to try this place. Really pleased we did. Kebab meat is the best in Burton by a good margin. Fresh cooked with homemade curry sauce. Nan breads fresh as well. Was told they will be on Uber eats this week hopefully as new place. Highly recommend.”

“Can’t say enough good things about this place, which is under new management. Extremely welcoming hosts, serving delicious and authentic Indian cuisine that is second to none. Delicate flavours, spiced just right while not being oily at all. Have been twice already just this week and will definitely be going back for more. Give it a try and you’ll be going back for more!”

“We actually got a take away so I can't comment too much about the atmosphere, however a dainty, small Italian joint is exactly where I imagine i'd be if I was somewhere in Italy. The food was fantastic, I've known the restaurant was there for 5+ years during my time at Derby Uni and last night was the first time I had ever set foot. We ordered a starter, two pastas and a pizza and I'm impressed. Will definitely be back!”

“It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.”

“We ordered big plate of different Indian dishes The Badshah Platter and we wasn't dissapointed at all. All food was tasty, especially masala chips and Malai Garlic Tikka bought me :) We had to wait around 30min to get food but we didnt feel that to be honest. Price was fair enough for 4 people. We didnt order any desserts as we were full. Definietly recommend this place, will back next time for sure.”

The food was absolutely beautiful, staff very attentive and I think it was v reasonably priced, £26 for poppadom/ pickle tray, pint of larger and a mixed Korai (chicken, lamb, king prawn, kebab) amd pilau rice. “Myself and my partner were travelling for a Rally and wanted to go up night before. I rang here and they said staying over in Motorhome wasn't a problem as long as we had a meal and drinks which wasn't a problem for us. Rang on the way on Thursday 29/05/2025 to confirm and was told maybe busy due to Classic car show which is held there on Thursday nights (but do ring to confirm this). But we were still welcome. The place as drove in was amazing with big lake view. We parked up and went in and was greeted by friendly, welcoming lovely staff and owners. James and his team really helpful and friendly. We bought drinks which was reasonably priced. We had the carvery which was absolutely amazing and so tasty and hot definitely worth the money. The place is so clean and tidy. The whole building inside and outside is lovely to look at. There is plenty of seating inside and outside with garden seating area overlooking the lake. Plenty of parking. The walk around the lake was nice and seeing all the ducks and Canadian geese. There is fishing allowed and rules which are in view. We are hoping to stop here again in few weeks. So if travelling and want to stop for night give them a ring. Cannot fault this place. Definitely going again and recommend. Reading the history of the building is interesting. Nice village to travel through. We woke to amazing view and so quiet in the night.. They also cater for various functions..”

“We hadn't visited for a few year's, but I used to bring my grandmother regularly for lunch before she went in a nursing home. Booking there today after her funeral was the perfect farewell. We booked a table for 7 people, we had a mixture of the main menu and the festive menu. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and excellent value for money. “Amazing venue, the decor is a riotous mixture Hollywood and middle east the food is Amazing and great value for money, The thing that really makes it special is the warmth of the welcome from the super friendly, helpful and perfectly polite staff in particular Navpreet who was too modest to appear in the pictures.”

“Been there 3 times now and can say everytime I have gone the food has been amazing! I have been with company too. We've tried the pizza, burgers, hot honey chicken, beef stroganoff and all of it has tasted so good. The chef's are so talented. For the cost and for what it is, it's just presented perfectly to me.
