“I first went to Silverhub for night classes about 8 or 9 years ago and loved the whole thing but then life got in the way. I returned earlier this year to get my skills up again. I loved Lisa's teaching so although it's over an hour travel, for me, there was no choice. I started the one year course in October which really takes things to a whole new level. “I visited Glittering Edge to take a weekend knife smithing course. Greg was a fantastic teacher, ensuring i was happy throughout with the steps I would be following to create my new knife. He has a lot of experience and is happy to be as hands on or off as you need and are comfortable with as you craft your own knife. I really enjoyed the experience and it was impressive to see some of the pieces Greg has completed and others that are underway. If you have ever fancied having a go at crafting your own knife I highly recommend doing so under the tutelage of Greg at glittering edge.”

Restoration Yard is stocked with amazing local, Scottish and independent food and drink producers. Your wee eyes will twinkle with delight, your jaw might even drop at the incredible range of tasty treats in store. The Hamporium has a number of ready made hampers available on their website but you can also make your own bespoke hamper. And this is exactly what I did. It was filled with goodies for a perfect cosy Christmas night in. Red wine, crackers and biscuits for cheese, hot chocolate and stirrers, chutney, cured meats, truffle nuts and mince pies. If you fancy heading in store to select and choose your hamper, Dalkeith Country Park, Restoration Yard is approx 30 minutes drive from Edinburgh City Centre. There is plenty of parking, loads of shopping, a fabulous cafe and The Kitchen, a superb restaurant. Plus a great park to wander around. The grounds and the courtyard outside The Store are dog friendly and there are several small cabins selling hot drinks and treats in the courtyard too.”

“Great evening course. Covered a wide rangka of skills and then led on to making your own pieces. Having a group approach also meant you see a lot bigger varietas of desins and approach. Great teachers and a fun atmosphere.”
