“Great find nestled on a country road a short walk from our AirBnB at Rose Cottage. We wnt to The Boot for lunch one day and for beer and tea the next. Everyone was friendly and the food was fresh and just what we hoped for from our first visit to a real pub in England. Fish and Chips and fish finger sandwiches were so fresh and hot! Yummy thick chips were crispy and perfect with salt and vinegar. And that Sticky Toffee Pudding Cheesecake!!! So good! Great experience!”

“Lovely experience! Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere, genuinely lovely people! The food was also amazing best Indian we have had. The lady that served us recommended a new curry for us to try and we are so glad she did as this may be our new favourite! She even gave us a piece of birthday cake she had made which was delicious and very kind of her. We will 100% be visiting again. Definitely recommend!!!”

“Well searching for a decent chippy and came across this one with great reviews so click clunk I was on my way. As I parked up at the back the doors where open and I could see the chefs With there's woks busily cooking and others running about busy. Ordered the hot and sour soup as usual as I hunt for the holy grail of hot and sour soups. And this comes close. It has that dark smokey look and taste I love , with loads meats and vegetables in . And wasn't sickly sweet like most others.Very tasty. Chicken Shenzuan was lovely and spicy with lots of fresh baby corn. Carrots and green peppers and onion. The chicken was real chicken and there was lots of it. Big chunks , these guys aren't stingy on the meat. Very satisfied with this meal. And once I mixed it with the tasty fried rice and excellent chips crispy on the outside fluffy in the middle it was a very decent meal indeed. The half roast duck with a lovely hoisin sauce tub was meaty and came with plenty of cucumber and lemongrass but I felt this veg was not fresh . The cucumber had no moisture in the bite. Probably been in fridge for a long time. But these guys were busy and ran of their feet so no harm done . Only negatives about coming here ...it looked like a scene out of shameless outside. Lads with tattoos on face and dogs on and off the leads lead , shouting and lager in hand. Will be back”

“Wow where do we start. We can certainly tick off all of the boxes above. We dined at the chesire branch for fathers day 2025. After looking at the menu I knew it would be the best place for myself, my husband and our 2 children aged 1 & 4. We had travelled 2 hours for a weekend in chester therefore I couldn't bring with me any decor for fathers day, the amazing manager Laura instantly gave us a balloon to take away and the most amazing and welcoming service, infact every member of staff we interacted with were so pleasant. The restaurant clearly went above and beyond to ensure everyone there enjoyed fathers day and any other occasion they may have. The food was really good and left us wanting more even though we were full. The staff were amazing with the kids, which actually led mummy and daddy enjoy their meal. This does not happen often, so a very special thank you!! Thank you las iguanas cheshire for really making our evening, and giving us an amazing fathers day evening. When visiting chesire again, you will be the first on our list!”

“Went for Sunday dinner with my friend last week. The place was extremely busy but was found a table almost immediately. Was served at the bar and carvery quickly and efficiency. Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. Special shout out to Vicky for great service, who seemed to be everywhere! Also to Suzy who went out of her way to bring us such a lovely Christmas Pud, and her daughter in the kitchen who apparently made it up for us, as we were a bit fussy. Thank you all.”

“Visited Chester for the Christmas markets and popped in for some lunch when it started raining. Beautifully cooked fish and chips and much faster this time even though we could see you were very busy The 2 girls on shift (sarah and meg) were efficient and worked so well together. They kept us topped up with a little table service, all whilst making sure all the other tables were happy. Sarah came and had a little chat with us and we learnt that she was the manager. She spoke highly about her pub and her team. We can see all the little changes that have been implemented over the last few months are working well. We visit a couple of times a month and the pub has always been great. But I was particularly impressed with our entire visit this time. Sarah you are brilliant at what you do and have done for this pub.”

“Halloween experience, we visited from Glasgow which has it's own , but this one is fantastic, it's a very big area with masses of Halloween props and actors, great food and drink too, this is one you shouldn't miss, can't recommend it enough.”

“We have visited Zaika on numerous occasions, and have always found the staff to be lovely, friendly and very accommodating. The restaurant is newly refurbished with modern decor. The food is fragrant, flavoured and well presented. Hussain, Tayef, Samin will go through the menu and offer their recommendations to suit your pallete. I would highly recommend this restaurant as it offer lovely food and atmosphere.”

“We enjoyed a lovely overnight stay in this traditional pub with guestrooms above. The pub itself is large with plenty of informal bar dining areas as well as a more formal table service section. We ordered a pizza to share and although it wasn't outstanding, it was very tasty and the right price point. The breakfast the next morning was also good. The sausage was really tasty and good quality. We stayed in room 1 which was a very small double with an ensuite. Decent shower. I knocked a star off the room as I discovered the room didn't have a hairdryer as advertised and I only discovered this after I had got out of the shower. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I'm sure they would have got one for me if I had noticed earlier but I didn't want to have to get dressed and go downstairs wet. We would definitely stay again.”

“recently had a burger that was an absolute standout. The patty was perfectly cooked—juicy on the inside with a great sear on the outside—and packed with rich, beefy flavour. The bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, and the toppings were fresh and well-balanced, adding texture without overpowering the meat. Every bite felt indulgent but thoughtfully put together. What really elevated the experience was the service from Lauren Howarth. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making sure everything was just right without being intrusive. Her positive attitude and professionalism added a lot to the overall meal and made the visit even more enjoyable. All in all, it was a fantastic burger paired with excellent service—definitely a meal I’d be happy to come back for.”

“Always come here when on this part of town, often when we've been to Whitby Park across the road. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. I like the beer garden on a hot summer's day. Today we stopped off for a quick drink and a snack to eat, and if we hadn't needed to be somewhere else, we would've had stayed for a proper course of dinner. My Mam was very impressed with the place and she liked the chilled atmosphere. She said that she'd be coming again next time her and my Dad visit us”

“Been coming here for many years before it was a Green King pub. First visit under the Green King ownership and it didn't disappoint, quite the opposite. I need to mention the chap with the beard behind the bar on the evening of Thursday 20th November, what a pleasure he was. Fantastic friendly service a breath of fresh air. Food and drink were fab too. Been to Green Kings all over the country and this was one of the best. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“We were starving and chose Comptoir as we knew it won't disappoint! I was in the mood for a stew, and their chicken and green olive tagines was amazing! This was Layton suggestion, and i am very happy i went for it. Tasty, full of fragrance, interesting and filling. My wife had the chicken taouk, which she couldn't finish, as the portions here are quite generous. Food came very quickly, even though the restaurant was quite busy, and also the drinks. Over all was a very good experience specially because our waiter went above and beyond to welcome us, he's very friendly and chatty, he explained the menu and he cared for allergies and any questions we had. Oh, i almost forgot to praise their lemonades... very very good and refreshing! We'll definitely come back, thanks Leyton and the kitchen”
