“Met antipodean friends for dinner. Lovely food - lots of it - great lively atmosphere and fantastic service. So lucky to have this pub so near to us. Thoroughly recommended.”
“Great new place just opened. Italian bites & cocktails, cool decor. Pasta was home cooked & tasted great. Long Island ice tea was mixed the way it should be... About time we had a cocktail bar worth visiting.”
“Ive been to this wee local pub a few times, always friendly and good banter! Its nice to get away from the hussle an bussle of the high street of croydon tho your only just around the corner.. wee places like this are becoming very rare and in time will eventually be pushed out by other big clubs/pubs doing student nights and cheap drinks night, this pub seems to have a loyal community following and long may it last! Ill definitely be back.”
“Wow how amazing has this place been. I came here regularly a few years back and thankfully it's sustained its great food and hospitality. I had the risotto and it was absolutely lush! I'll definitely go again. Lovely Italian settings and great indoor vibes too.”
“Visited a couple of times since restrictions were lifted. Very professional service with staff attending tables to take orders regularly. Definitely London pricing, cocktails will set you back £9.50+ a pop but they are delicious and pack a punch. And the food!!!...I had the hake, partner had the bone marrow burger - I have not had food that good since the Michelin starred Albert's Table closed down. Outstanding! You do need to book in advance and you only get 2 hrs per booking per day. Not all tables have heaters but vast majority do and 90% of tables are covered. On our 2nd visit the heater above our table wasn't working which was a shame because we would have stayed longer if it had been. A must visit for cocktail lovers and foodies alike.”
“Food was delicious. The decor is beautiful too. I had the scallops for starters and they were cooked to perfection and the lamb rump for main was also nice. The drinks / cocktails were rather expensive for a Croydon restaurant but they were also pretty good. Portions are not the biggest to order some sides if you’re hungry.”
“Highly recommend the wine tasting! Really lovely welcome from everyone, food was amazing. Really lovely authentic Italian. Can't wait to return.”
“Absolutely lovely welcoming place to go. Management and bar staff are so friendly. We’re from the North East of England and we were made to feel so welcome. Food is great too. The bar has a nice outside seating area perfect for the summer months. We look forward to visiting whenever we’re in the area.”
“Amazing and friendly little pub. They've got a really nice patio in the back. Great little find! Out of all the pubs in the area this is a gem!”
“My favourite local pub. The best staff and exceptionally well kept beer. Punters are all friendly a real gem of a pub”
“Lovely spot for a Sunday Roast. Took the Misses and some mates here a few weeks ago and the grub was very good and very reasonably priced too. One of the best roast spuds I've had in a pub. Guinness was up there with some of the better pints I've had. Not a massive fan of the inside of the pub, bit like a sports club I prefer more of a dirty old mans boozer, but it has a cracking beer garden for the sunny days. I'd return for a summers sesh on the ciders.”
“Great spot for food and drinks. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the portion sizes! Nice atmosphere inside and out but we opted to sit in the beer garden and enjoy the sunshine. Lots of parasols for cover. Super friendly manager who was very accommodating, checking everything was good for us and letting us know about a BBQ the following day.”
“I jumped on the bus going the wrong way to get home from ASDA . When I and the wife jumped off to head the right direction we decided to grab a bite when we saw the Plough. They were only serving Sunday Roast and I am extremely glad . I would have hated to have ordered something else and missed this great dish! Being from Texas there is a certain expectation when it come to cooked beef and this roast didn’t disappoint but you will pay for it. It’s a bit pricey for only 1 piece of beef but the quality was outstanding. I will return for more!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Went with a friend who recommended this place. Such a nice pub, rock music playing, friendly atmosphere and great decor. Have not tried the food yet. Have been twice and will be coming again.”
“Our local pub. We are not regulars but came here quite a few times with our baby son and with friends. Beer is always great, staff is lovely. Haven’t had a chance to try to food yet but will do soon. It’s dog friendly too (it has two beer gardens). We do grief the vivid blue colour. It was such a nice vibe. The white is quite ordinary.”
“Great Pub. Owners are experienced and very welcoming. You really can’t go wrong. Also they have a cider called “Inch” be careful it’s delicious!”
“We had a wonderful summer’s afternoon sat outside at the White Bear for a Sunday roast. Delicious lamb, impressive Yorkshire’s! The owner is clearly passionate about the service they offer which is great to see. They were very busy so service was a little slow at times, but its popularity speaks to the lovely atmosphere there.”
“Cute place, I didn't try the hot menu but thoroughly enjoyed the Pistachio Cheesecake and Coco Loco smoothie, indoor and outdoor seating and toilets provided. I already love the gardens and the cafe is just the cherry on top.”
“I had the Sunday roast today and was genuinely impressed by the flavor. It was well-seasoned and, dare I say, even better than what I’ve had at Hawksmoor! I know that sounds bold, but it’s true. The service was fantastic as well; the staff were friendly and personable. The atmosphere was relaxing, making it a perfect spot to unwind. This place is truly a gem in Croydon, and I’ll definitely be coming back often!”
“A great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors—sitting in the garden here is always a treat. It’s a very friendly and welcoming spot, made even better by the amazing bartender, Ian. He goes above and beyond to make everyone feel at home, even learning a few words from my native language, which truly meant a lot. I'm always greeted with the biggest smile, and it’s clear the place wouldn’t be the same without him. A genuinely great guy who adds so much to the atmosphere. Highly recommended!”
“Good local boozer, friendly staff, killer pool every Thursday and disco/DJ every Friday. Family friendly boozer at the heart of our community”
“The fox and hound is a traditional Irish style pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Beers such as Stella, Guinness ect. No craft beers but good draft. this keeps the pub affordable. Karaoke on a Friday nights and live music on a Saturday. The Wolfe tones often play here.”
“I had been coming to the Dog and Bull for years before the Refurb and always found it charming. I returned in May to a bright and vibrant garden, dubbed 'the wilderness' the new booths were a welcome upgrade and made the space feel substantial! Besides the cosmetic changes, I have grown to love this pub in my home town of Croydon even more than I did before! We've been so lucky to have an amazing summer and it's been great to see this pub so close to my heart packed out with new and returning people each week! I have been raving about The Dog since May and have invited all my uni mates who talk down on Croydon to have a drink with me There, they've all eaten their words and finally seen the charm that Croydon has that is encapsulated in what I think is the best pub in central Croydon! The staff are friendly and make everyone feel like they're in their local and they have live DJ sets, with music I wish more places would play (deep cuts of Garage, R&B, Jungle…list goes on). I wanted to write this review as we always complain when we don't like an establishment but never give praise to environments where we feel comfortable and want to return to so thank you to all the staff at The Dog and I'm sure you'll be seeing me again in the near future.”
“The bar staff were friendly, easily approachable and fast with serving. All my orders were correct, quick and the staff were highly welcoming. They made the environment friendly and approachable, The members of staff present serving me were -James -kiva -Shaq Huge thanks to these guys for bringing such a welcoming and enjoyable service to me and my friends ❤️ will defo be coming back for more :)”
“Great old fashioned footballers pub tucked away in a side street. Very acceptable beer reasonable priced served by lovely smiling ladies. Of course that night everyone was ecstatic we had just beaten the Arsenal 3-0. !!!.”
“Great pub, friendly staff, friendly customers Dog friendly Definitely will go back again”
“We held our Christmas party at Project B last night. It was such a fun time in a fabulous venue! The staff were friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us including setting up table tennis! The DJ mixed in our favourite requests and kept us dancing through the night. I would highly recommend Project B.”
“Lovely pub! Service was friendly and efficient. The pub was clean both inside and outside. There is a terrace at the back with some table and booths. The booths are equipped with heaters so you can enjoy them during all seasons. Food was nice and portions were sufficient for a group of 4. Toilets were clean. I would recommend this pub for any type of event. You can enjoy a pint with friends, or a party with colleagues. They also have live music sometimes so check the board at the entrance for information.”
“Lovely vibe with friendly and attentive staff as well as customers-felt like I was actually in the Caribbean! They have a surprising rooftop section with views of the Croydon skyline. Two menus. One with meat and vegetarian options and one fish and seafood. We ate from the seafood menu. The food was fresh and good portions. I recommend the jug of rum punch for £20 - great value.”
“Really affordable prices. Inside it sadly lacks character. It could do with reflecting its rich musical history with pictures of the artists and some text. Staff very friendly. Pool table and dart board.”
