“This B/B was the most perfect location to stay in absolute comfort and attention for visiting Harry potter studio tours, we took our 8 year old grandson and booked the wizardry room as a surprise and when we arrived Marrick met us at reception and he was so friendly and took us to a double room, my grandson was a little bit bored, then he said wrong one and took him to the Harry potter room Elliots face was just amazing to witness, I can only sum this B/B in a few words Room perfect, management perfect, Continental breakfast perfect, location perfect, value for money perfect. Thank you so much for making Elliots visit PERFECT. by the way the tour was perfect as w ell Mike O'Neill”

“One of my most favourite pubs in the area. Love the Thai food. The staff are always polite, courteous and very helpful. I have been with friends and also with my kids and the experience was great in all occasions. The atmosphere is great, and even the patrons are nice and friendly. The place is also always spotless. Definitely recommend!”

“Been meaning to leave a review for a very long time, however managed to forget..probably due to the fantastic friendly service we always receive from the team. We are always welcomed with open arms and the team bend over backwards to accommodate us. I must shout out the whole team… they’re all amazing… however, Becks has served us since we first started coming here, since moving in locally, before Jason the Head Chef joined, she was the main reason for our return. Jason joined, the food has been out of this world… I would recommend the roasts - they’re delicious! The beef is served pink and the vegetables are cooked perfectly and well seasoned. It’s always a pleasure coming to visit The Black Horse and we cannot recommend it enough. Final shout out to Becks, Jason… our favourites… and of course Harry, Layla, Ben, Jess, Jack and Ollie. ❤️❤️❤️”

“Really lovely place with so much character. An amazing Sunday roast dinner was had. The meat was succulent, tender and full of flavour. The veg was cooked to perfection. Super tasty Yorkshire puds and gravy. We shared a super serving of cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets. Sat next to a roaring fire. Bliss. Highly recommend this place 100%.”

“We have just returned from posh frocks after my daughter tried on lots of dresses for her prom. What an incredible range they have and what lovely staff. We didn’t really know what we were looking for but the lovely ladies helped narrow down the style, material and colours with so much patience and enthusiasm. Sadly one of the faves turned out to be already taken by our school so we are just looking through photos to decide on the right dress. If you need a prom or even dress they have something for everyone. Thank you so much ladies for your help today”

“Best pub in Croxley. Best beer, friendliest staff and all the locals go here. Never a problem getting served no matter how busy it is. Yes some of the locals do sit at the bar but that is a good thing surely! Always enough staff on. Very popular with regulars and local clubs who choose this for their functions & get togethers. Can't go wrong.”

“I recently visited this restaurant with my kids, and we had a wonderful experience! There were about 23 of us in our group, and despite the size, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything went smoothly. The food was fantastic—delicious, well-prepared, and served in generous portions. There was a great variety on the menu, catering to all tastes, and everyone in our group found something they loved. The atmosphere was also a highlight. The large outdoor kids' play area kept the little ones entertained, which made our dining experience much more relaxed. Plus, the Christmas market at the front added a festive touch, creating a charming vibe. All in all, it was a fantastic visit—highly recommend for families or anyone looking for a great meal in a welcoming environment!”

“Took 4 grandchildren to see Beauty and the Beast on Saturday 6th December. The auditorium was half full, but the company brought such energy and confidence that no one noticed! All the singing and dancing was generous 8/10, and the obligatory ‘Schlick’ whilst scene changing was slick and hilarious! What a great evening’s entertainment! Shame on us locals that the theatre was not full-but this is a winner. Only person who needs some critical notes is the Witch. Bring sinister and evil doesn’t equate to quiet and sneaky. Get your face out of your hat, naked eye contact with the audience and speak loudly!!!! You have a fabulous voice……go for it!! ALL the kids loved it (ages 6 to 15) as did I!!”

“Been coming here semi-regularly for years now, not had a single issue. I'm rather fussy so not finding any major problems is remarkable. Not the largest selection of food but everything available is 10/10 (especially the wings oh my god how are they this good).”

“Was recommended to come here for dinner, and I’m so glad I did. From start to finish, was such an experience. Met with a professional team, that care about their work, clearly trained to a high standard. Food allergies and care were taken very seriously, on top of there being many options should you have allergies. Amazing food to top it off. Highly recommend to you all. We traveled 45minutes and will definitely make that travel again.”

“We held a wake at the pub before it opened at 3.00pm. It was an excellent venue with first class food and service. Arun made sure our requirements were met for the day in question and nothing was too much trouble. Once the pub opened we had a large quiet area reserved for us to one side of the pub for those that needed to stay longer. Well recommended for any private gathering or event.”

“I've been living in Watford for 12 years and this is the first time I've tried this place. All I can say is, it's outstanding, not just for this area but it's one of the best Fish & Chips I've ever had. The batter was perfect (so many places get this wrong), as was the fish and the portions are HUGE. My son had one of the equally massive sausages wrapped in bacon, again, very good indeed. Service was nice and friendly and we didn't wait long for a freshly cooked takeaway. I wish I had found this 'plaice' a long time ago. (Banana in the photo for scale)”

“My great grandfather Peter Grune and his family lived in this pub. He owned several pubs but this one in particular was a favourite. I am now in my 90s! It looks like the old pubs used to be but without straw on the floor!”

“Went here for some treatments pre wedding events. The staff were really friendly and treated me like family. The hour treatment I had made me feel relaxed! Even though this place is called ladies paradise they certainly looked after myself being a man! Would defo recommend to anyone in the area. Skin feels great and I feel revived!”

“Had our annual family get together here in function room. Extremely spacious so plenty of room for all the clan to get together. Room for the children of the family to play too and open their presents. Plenty of seating, tables and comfy chairs.”

“We have been using the Rasal for nearly 20 years and they never fail us. Recently we noticed smart, new, heat insulated takeaway bags so our food arrived piping hot and as delicious as ever. Definitely our favourite Indian restaurant in the area.”

The owner Sanjay is a bonus providing service with a smile and a recommends amazing dishes. The one Churi with ice cream is a great way to finish off. Best selection of Malt whiskys too.”

“A lovely friendly pub. Very popular with the locals of Croxley Green but you’re made to feel very welcome on arrival. Seating outside front garden & also out the back garden which is nice, but over looks the car park. The car park can get full at peak times but not normally a problem to find somewhere local to park. Dogs are allowed both inside & outside and on the few occasions we have visited there has always been many dogs here. The vibe seems really chill & relaxed. Food is good, I always go for the superfood salad as it’s simply the most amazing thing which sounds strange for a salad but it’s amazing!”
