City centre eats in Manchester

“A taste of authentic Mexican culture nestled within the hustle and bustle of Manchester’s curry mile. Don Tacos flagship cuisine is their delectable birria offering, and is perfect for a Friday evening takeaway (which this brief review describes). Our party sampled a range of items from the menu including birria tacos, burritos, quesadilla and tacos. The food, as usual, was delicious. It’s on the expensive side for the portions you get, but I’d say it is still reasonable value. As per any good Mexican culinary establishment, Jarritos were available. I recommend pineapple or mango. Delivery seemed efficient, with a reasonable speed and items arrived in good condition. The packaging is elegant and tasteful. This review will stop here for now, but more details will follow on a dine-in experience, which I greatly look forward to soon.”

“We came on a Sunday, having been to an event in Manchester the night before. Looked this place up online for being open, having a good menu, and for being accessible as I was on crutches and wearing a surgical boot. All the boxes were ticked, and the welcome was brilliant, the lady owner was a lovely smiling hostess. The food was good, served quickly, piping hot and just what we wanted. Even on a Sunday, sited in a mainly industrial area, the cafe was busy and it is probably packed during the week. Lots of lovely thoughtful touches. All round, a great choice. Thank you”

“Always a fan of the Wharf for a special time, and you can't beat it on a Sunday for a roast, pie, or Asian-fusian salad. Ideal for a date or a classy yet casual catch up with pals. A great selection of pints that are local, broader UK, continental Europe, and classics. They always have at least one gluten free beer on tap at a time, this time was the Brightside Bitter, but often have an alternative option. There are food options for all with the menu having extensive catering for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The staff are allergen aware and I have never had a problem eating here. They offer veggie and GF savoury pies and roasts, and GF fish and chips, as well as desert options which is a rare treat. The good is reliably hot and tasty, never rushed. They can run out of popular dishes especially by late on a Sunday, but that is to be expected of a place this busy. I had the crispy beef salad (GF) which was very flavourful and had perfect textures. Parking can be validated to avoid paying anything using an iPad at the bar. There is an accessible entrance, I believe an accessible loo too. Upstairs toilets are always very clean, as pleasant as a loo can be.”

“We went on a Sunday afternoon and had the all you can eat buffet. The food is very tasty and the quality is excellent. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. For £14.95 the buffet is excellent value for money. The atmosphere is relaxed and modern. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.”

The food was absolutely delicious — fresh samosas, perfectly baked mini burgers, and a lovely selection of cakes that tasted just as good as they looked. “We went Monday evening, 4 adults and a 14 month little boy. We got a table and baby chair instantly. Got menus and ordered drinks which came as we were reading our menus. This did us a favour as we could see the size of the portions being served. They were huge. On ordering I downsized from a main to a sandwich and soup. Delicious and unable to finish the sandwich. Tuesdays lunch. A lovely venue, Sarah who served us was brilliant. Reasonably priced and they offer two courses, three courses cheaper. Would definitely come again.”

“Nice, old-fashioned very traditional British pub with a cool back room where bands play. Friendly service and a good atmosphere, the back room is small so perfect for an intimate gig. Good selection of beers on at the bars including Robinson's Trooper which is a personal fave!”

“Ok. Hear me out. I was visiting from Texas on a work trip. My office is right across the street. Took my team out to eat after work to get to know them and chose this place. I am always a pepperoni pizza type of guy. But two of my team ordered the chicken and waffle pizza which was amazing. I wanted to eat all their pizza and not my pepperoni. Came back to the states and looked for someone who made this pizza and no one. This will be my first stop on my next visit.”

“I was introduced to wagamama cuisine lastnight by my friend and his good wife. The menu had a good variety especially for vegetarian and vegan. All our dishes can on time, were hot on the plates and portions were a good size. The cooking style and tastes in my opinion can relate to fusion of Thailand and Asia curry sauce reflect this. The cheese cake is a must to end our meal. Williams was our main waiter, he did a fantastic. So thank you to all the staff and keep up the good work.”
