“Here's the short version: great food and great service. Our waiter was really helpful. Given the tapas nature of the restaurant we were unsure about how much to order without overdoing it, and with his help we got it just right. We branched out a bit and tried things we hadn't had before, and it was all fantastic. The tacos and the paneer tapas dishes were a highlight. I also loved the Thali, I had a few favourites (the lamb dish and the lentils one), but everything was great. We also treated ourselves to a cocktail which was delicious, and very reasonably priced as part of their pre-7pm "2 for £12" deal. Honestly I'm ashamed it took us so long to try this place. We certainly won't leave it that long til next time, we're coming back soon!”
“Amazing Indian food, Good size portions And throw in a free popperdom. Top chicken madras and garlic chilli chicken delivered on time.”
“Excellent food and great service - staff are very friendly. Good value, too.”
“A truly fantastic restaurant. Myself and my partner have been going here for a 3 years now, and have loves it since the first time we visited! Fantastic food, reasonable prices (especially the Sunday buffet!), amazing atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff. In particular, Maria has always been so lovely to us and all the many friends we have brought each time. I would highly recommend this incredible gem of a restaurant!”
“Always on road working finding new spots in different towns and city’s found this place on google so thought I’d give it a try lovely fresh food goat was lovely dumplings fresh and fluffy defo be back .big up Sanka”
“Absolutely amazing food, full of flavors without the greasy aftertaste. Well worth a visit. To start was the tandori panier and the fish amritsari, genuinely great taste the food was piping hot and didn't taste like it was pre-made. The main course wasn't on the menu as I had asked what the server preferred, but it's his take on the garlic chilli chicken curry, except it was made with lamb and had his unique taste of spices. It was delicious and was complimented with lemon rice. The other main was chicken biryani. And this was definitely made fresh the chicken was perfect. Overall the food was outstanding, but what let's it down unfortunately is the outside entrance doesn't do it any favors, I would highly recommend giving jhakhas a try.”
“Had the best experience in an Indian restaurant. Food 10/10 and the service, you won’t get that nowhere. Kind and friendly new owners/staff. Will defo see you guys again!”
“Colleagues and I stopped here by chance and it was great, despite only being 30 minutes before it closed. The staff were amazing, helped with recommendations because I couldn't make my mind. Food smelt amazing. Reasonably priced and tasted even better. Went for Chicken on the bone Rogan Josh. New work stop for a takeaway.”
“Had a wonderful experience at Gurkha Express Nottingham - the chicken momo, chilli chicken, chilli squid, and cheese naan were all well prepared and served. The restaurant delivers an authentic Nepalese-Indian dining experience with great flavours and attention to detail. Portions are generous and they offer excellent value for the quality provided. Service is welcoming, which makes the visit even better. I would definitely recommend Gurkha Express to anyone looking for tasty food in Nottingham.”

“We have been ordering from here for ages and its always been brilliant but I have to write this to mention the honesty and kindness of the delivery driver, we ordered last Saturday and my partner had given him 2 20 pound notes without realising. When he finished his delivery's he called back to give it back to us. We didn't have a clue we had given too much. I thought it very honest of him. Well done that man”
“Lovely warm spicy curry from the best Indian in Hucknall. Would definitely recommend! We ordered over the phone and the food came within the time expected. Very warm, amazing taste and the portions are perfect! We will be using Mughal again.”
“The best indian food around. Always freshly cooked, very tasty, great choice and fantastic quality.”
“Pizzas fron here is amazing. Last night I bit the bullet and ordered a lamb Dansak. Anyone that knows me knows I love Dansak but it has to be spicey and I've only come across 2 places that does it how I like it. Agra in Ilkeston (which has closed) and a place in Wales lol. So I've never tried anywhere else for 2 years. Well Tandoori surprised me, their lamb Dansak is the absolute best!!! Will be returning!! Staff are amazing too!!! Love it here”
“Went here for breakfast on a whim for my 30th birthday. Fancied something authentic and Shahjee's did not disappoint. Its the positive reviews that pulled me in, which definitely checked out. I had the halwa, puri, aloo chana deal. Had an omelette on the side to share, which was lovely. Spicy, with onions, tomatoes and mixed Peppers. The desi tea could have had a but more cinnamon and flavour in it but to be honest, to say it is included in the meal option, you really cannot complain about it. Would definitely come again and glad I trusted the reviews. Everything is freshly prepared and cooked, even the tea. Nothing is already pre-made or packet that you just reheat in the microwave. Yes the place was a tad busy but that's pretty much goes to show how popular and enjoyable the food is. I'd rather go to a place that is busy and bustling, than dead and quiet. Also has a food hygiene rating of 5. The negative reviews are either very picky/fussy eaters with lack of patience, or may have just a genuine hiccup, which can happen. I think so long as you give the place an opportunity to actually rectify the concern/issue, then that's what matters, as opposed to coming on her to moan and complain. Will be coming again.”
“5 stars because of the fact that despite they was busy, they still managed to get on with it and food was in my hands before you know it. Nice food also.”
“The Indian cuisine here is amazing. The lamb is incredibly tender and not tough at all, as if it has been slow-cooked to perfection. The blend of spices is wonderful, and the onions are cooked just right. It's truly a delightful experience.”
“This restaurant is fantastic. I have been going here for many years, and it just keeps getting better. They have recently extended and fully refurbished the restaurant, and it looks amazing. The food is consistently outstanding, and the staff are always extremely welcoming and friendly. A massive thank you to Abu for looking after us so well, on our most recent visits.”
“This was amazing the food was so nicee and I highly recommend the popadoms with sweet chilli sauce it was the best thing I ever tried.”
“The best Paneer Tikka and Chicken Tikka and Indian curry (Paneer Jalfrezi) and Garlic Coriander Naans I’ve had in Nottingham. Must visit. Count me as your regular now. 10000% recommended.”
“I recently dined at this Indian restaurant and was truly impressed by every aspect of the experience. From the moment I walked in, the warm hospitality and inviting ambiance set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional meal. The menu offers a wonderful variety of traditional Indian dishes, and every bite was bursting with authentic flavor. I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken — rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced. The garlic naan was fresh from the tandoor, fluffy on the inside with just the right crisp on the edges. Each dish felt carefully prepared with attention to detail and quality ingredients. Service was prompt and friendly, with staff who were more than happy to offer recommendations and explain the different dishes. Whether you’re new to Indian cuisine or a longtime fan, there’s something here for everyone. If you’re looking for a delicious, satisfying Indian meal, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
