“Love it , we arrived after dark so it was tricky , signs are really small , but we've managed . Outdoor shower , with hot water -nice. One portable toilet , really clean and tidy -nice. Fire pits -nice. No signal -very nice . Really good place to reset from day to day live . Will come back again :)”

“A great place to spend a day here. There is a miniature train here. It’s popular with kids and grown up kids. Lots of parking spaces and it’s free to park. Make sure to leave the car park by 8:00 pm. It might change with the season but in summer it is 8:00 pm. You can walk along the Basingstoke canal and enjoy the view.”

“This is a gorgeous spot. It seems to be miles of streams,trees,and trails.Greay place to walk your dog and there is a dog friendly cafe.”

“The big slide is closed due to repairs. Nice but small park without the big slide. There's a duck feeder vending machine in the entrance. You get a handful of pellets to feed ducks. The walk along the river is beautiful, it leads to Locks.”

“Langley Mead at Sheinfeld is a real hidden gem and one of my favourite places to unwind. The open fields, wildflower meadows, and surrounding countryside create the perfect setting for a peaceful walk or just sitting quietly with a good book, soaking in the views. It’s a haven for wildlife lovers—especially those who enjoy birdwatching. I’ve spotted so many different species here using my bird ID app, which has made each visit even more enjoyable. It’s also a very popular spot for dog walkers. I don’t have a dog myself, but it’s always lovely to see them having such a great time, exploring all the scents and making new friends. Langley Mead offers that perfect mix of calm, natural beauty and quiet companionship with nature. Highly recommended for anyone needing a bit of fresh air and tranquility.”

“It is a wonderful little park for children with a few facilities that we hadn't seen elsewhere. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.”

“We had a really enjoyable walk around the walls of the old Roman town of Silchester. The walk is probably about 2.5km long and will take you about an hour to complete. The walls are fairly complete at the southern end where they reach around 20ft high but in other places are much lower. The site has a good number of information boards explaining the history. There is no entry fee and the car park is free (but I did see a notice from the council proposing to charge £1.20 for 2 hours)”

“The food was delicious. I ordered the rib eye and had the caramel creme for dessert which was incredible! The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had “Sam” serve us and he was such a delight. 10/10 throughout”

“This is a great place for a family day out, reasonable ticket price. Clean soft play area suitable for kids between 6-10 years old. Animals barn , tractor trailer, bouncing pillow and the whole park is huge! There is food counter as well, the price is reasonable in terms of a theme park. Last but not least, the staff are so friendly and you can see they keep empty the rubbish bins to keep the place tidy and clean.”

“Amee's at Basingstoke is absolutely amazing. We unexpectedly found this little gem inside the Honey & Ghee shop in Basingstoke. Ishita the host is really sweet and welcoming. I will say this is one of the best pani puri/ chaat shops in Basingstoke.”

“Lovely lunch. A hidden away place. Menu has almost all gluten-free options. Had risotto for starter, followed by steak and finished off with cheesecake. All perfectly done, especially the risotto which was fantastic. Highly recommended for anyone in the area”

“We chose the angel to hold the wake yesterday, for the loss of our mother. We honestly couldn't have asked for more and are so happy we went here. Andy is an absolutely lovely, welcoming guy who was so intent to do whatever we wanted and made us feel so 'looked after'. The food was incredible and atmosphere of the function room and the bar are warm cozy. We aim to return for drinks by the fire and roasts on some Sundays! Thank you team much appreciated x”

“My husband ordered a take away dinner for us which he collected from the restaurant with all the standard precautionary measures due to Covid-19. We can't fault them, from the ease and efficiency of ordering online to the notifications of when it is ready to collect. Our meal was delicious, full of flavour, good portions and great menu choice. “Group of 5 of us went to celebrate our daughters Birthday. She was the only one that had been before. The food was amazing! Even the prawn crackers were the best we’ve ever tasted. I had the salt and pepper chilli mushrooms to start and the chilli and basil stir fry with slow cooked beef as my main course. We can’t recommend the Giggling Squid highly enough. The staff were great too - so were the cocktails! Will definitely be coming again soon.”

“We travelled from the Midlands to take my wife's nan who lives in Reading to Beale Park as she has always wanted to go. It was well worth the 5 hours of driving. The place has plenty of parking and was spotless inside. The staff were all really helpful and cheery. Lots of lovely places to sit and eat. All the pathways are nice for a wheelchair too. Plenty of animals and well maintained gardens to look at. We liked the fact that you just go round in two big loops so no dead ends to get lost in. We all had a great time thank you. Only thing is that when we go out to a place as a family we get a fridge magnet and you didn't have any with your place name on. Shame we don't live closer as we would deffo return for another visit.”

For those wanting a longer stroll, the 2.2-mile Woodland Walk takes you through ancient woodland and across a boardwalk over Longmoor Bog, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This trail feels like a real escape into nature, with rare mosses and plants creating a serene atmosphere. Excellent for Kids & Family Time This is where the park truly shines for families. The adventure play area is fantastic, modern, and engaging. It's split into two main sections: * The Sensory Garden: Aimed at younger children, this area features creative water play sections, a colourful pirate ship, musical chimes, and gentle climbing frames. * The Wild Wood: Designed for older, more adventurous kids, this part includes a fantastic large wooden treehouse, climbing structures, a zip line, and swings. During the warmer months, the paddling pool is an enormous hit (booking is usually required). With ample space for picnics and Jacksons Café on-site offering delicious food and drinks with a view of the lake, you can comfortably spend the entire day here. Relaxed Family Fishing For those looking to introduce their kids to fishing, Longmoor Lake is ideal. It is a well-stocked coarse fishery, offering a relaxed and picturesque environment. You can expect to catch species like roach, perch, tench, and even some good-sized carp and pike. It’s perfect for pleasure fishing from one of the 33 designated swims.”

“What an incredible hidden gem. This nature walk offers a pleasant mix of waterside scenery, meadowland, and woodland edges. The bird watching is fantastic with nature stops along the way. A big lake that supports both wildlife and recreational use.There is free parking also on Swan Lane which has plenty of spaces.”

“My son had a fantastic time today at Lagoona Park. He had lots of fun on the floats. The lifeguards and other staff were very friendly. The place was very clean. There were lots of sitting areas for customers. Wonderful place. We spent the afternoon sitting outside with our picnic. We had a fabulous time.”
