“Extremely generous portions. Beautifully freshly prepared traditional Greek Fayre. I had the Minotaur breakfast and other than being slightly overfaced by the sheer size of my breakfast I absolutely loved it !!! The warm, fresh humous was the best I’ve ever tasted!!!”

“We’ve came for Sunday lunch as a table of 6. The service has been impeccable, very quick with bringing the meats out. All the meats were super tender, especially the minted lamb. However I did love the cinnamon pineapple. All the staff were really polite and friendly. I will definitely be coming back!”

“Great little bar and bottle shop. Friendly bar staff. Great website which offers click and collect or delivery. Brilliant range of beers, ales, stouts, ciders, sours and all manner of delicious alcohol on tap, pump,cans and bottles. Nice little outside area. Really like this place.”

“Fantastic local family pub. Service and food is always great. However the real stand out feature of the place is the atmosphere generated by the managers Lee and Joanne. They have a super team of staff who are always bright, cheerful and helpful. We have used the pub for a formal family function and just to pop in for a drink and have never been disappointed. My dad is currently suffering with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s and is wheelchair bound. Lee and Joanne always make us feel welcome and make a real fuss of my dad. Other than his bungalow the Hay Nook is his favourite place to be.”

“visited again 12:00 on saturday, after two years. the meals ordered were delicious. the chilli beef was medium spicy. the lamb rump was tender, the slow roasted beef was good. meals were in generous portions. they were value for money. remember look for special menu broads A late lunch 3:30pm today, have a delicious and good generous portion of ox tail & mesh potato meal. if you enjoy ox tails, you should try this dish when it is still on a special menu”

“We went for lunch and on arrival the place was buzzing but noisy. Being just a party of 2 the staff were very understanding and we eventually moved to a quieter part of the bar. The food was outstanding. Specific requests were accommodated without fuss. The beef was tender and tasty. We had a thoroughly pleasant experience. Thank you to the team who it's clear work very hard to deliver a good experience for customers.”

“We had a fabulous overnight stay at the Pebley Inn. It has a lovely deck outside overlooking the countryside, luckily we had a lovely autumn night to make the most of it. We were greeted at check in by the lovely Olivia, it was such a warm friendly welcome and she continued to look after us all night. We stay in a lot of pubs on our travels and don't normally get such amazing service. Food delicious. Beers kept well. Warm atmosphere in the pub. Room well equipped. The whole night was excellent.”

“Called in here after been kicked out of a local pub because our under 9s football team were to young for the area we was stood in . We wanted lunch so left the team to celebrate a cup win in the travelers and went to the droppingwell as we used to come here loads so was happy to see it had been updated and was looking great , we was found a table even though it was really busy . We ordered food and drinks it came really quickly I had the pulled pork burger and my wife had the turkey pudding wrap both were excellent and good value . The place is good for all types of dates or occasions we are planning to book more after team meets here if we can , come on the under 9s eccesfield Spartans.”

“As a registered disabled person who often needs access to a toilet quickly, I found myself in need of such facilities. I entered the pleasant pub and spoke with the bartender. She kindly showed me to the disabled toilet which was much appreciated. I did not have time to stay for food or a drink, so thanked her before leaving. Such a kind welcoming person is lovely to find these days especially and for this I would highly recommend The Stag Inn, Rotherham.”

“Having a relative in the hospital up the road, finding this pub was a godsend. Excellent menu choice and unbelievable value for money. I can highly recommend the fish and chips, Gammon and the Surf and turf. Portions are spot on and the price is great. What makes the pub though are the staff. They make you feel like a regular as you order your first drink. Even though I live over 20 miles away I will make a point of continuing to visit this pub and work my way through the menu!”

“This place is a hidden gem that no one seems to know about so I'm sharing this secret with you all as I was so impressed with the food and service. I been here with my partner for a meal over Easter. it was lovley Two for a Tenner u can't go wrong here! You might think because of the cheap price tag you may get poor quality food however this is not the case here! The food is top quality at a very good price! We had hunters chicken and pie of the day (steak and mushroom.) The pie was packed with meat and flavour the chips were lovley it all came out very quickly and was hot and tasted great my partner loved the hunters chicken too. The drink selection was reasonable but its the food I will be coming back for. Overall a great visit that I will be repeating sometime soon.”

“We took our 5 children for an hour and ended up ordering some food for them. We don’t usually take them out to eat very often as the you boys are Autistic and the younger two also have ADHD, we often feel we are judged. This couldn’t have been further from our experience here! Dave and Vicky were amazing with the kids, they made it a fantastic experience to the point of the children wanting to cuddle them upon leaving! They went above and beyond to make them smile, what fantastic people. The food was brilliant too! Thanks so much, we will definitely visit again with the children.”

“been in this pub few times, the service was friendly, the quality of meals were basic , with that price you are not expecting too much. chips were crispy, chicken wings were plenty. beaware some meals are including drinks. good selection of drinks and their prices were low. guinness was £2.58 a pint. other pubs in peak district you won't even get half a pint. tea and coffee are refillable it was only £1.02.”
