“Stayed last week for the second time. The first being 2 years ago. Really lovely, very clean and well kept. Nice touches like champagne and chocolates on arrival as well as tea coffee and a lot of kitchen condiments. The spa was an amazing addition too. The house is well away from the road and very quiet.”

“Had the most amazing Christmas Fayre meal ever ... so accomodating... my daughter is the fussiest eater ever but gave her exactly what she wanted . food was second to none , everything home cooked, soup was amazing , prawn cocktail best we've seen ever ... pate absolutely beautiful. Absolutely nothing I could fault if I tried ... if I'd have known previously would have booked for Xmas day as all food was amazing . Staff are thr friendliest people you will ever meet. An absolute hidden gem xxx”

“Regularly buy bird food from here. Good prices for high quality (no waste) seed, nuts, meal worms, etc. Affordable prices for long-lasting quality products. I have many decorative plastic planters from here in the garden that have lasted years and years and still look brand new. Also holds a trove of DIY tools, fittings, random parts, and spares. Generally, if you want something random, they've got it in stock (somewhere!), or they've got an alternative that works just as well or better. Staff are friendly and helpful and welcoming. 10/10 would recommend over b&q, wickes, etc, for household DIY”

“Great castle and stunning views. We went while the Halloween events were on and my 6 year old absolutely loved it. I think it would have been nice for more information to be around to read, for those of us that didn't pick up an audio guide (they are hard to listen to with a young child running around), some short descriptions of each of the rooms around the castle would have been really interesting. But overall really enjoyed our visit!”

“we've been going to The crown and Anchor for perhaps over a yr now. we live close to Chesterfield town centre and enjoy Friday nights in this pub . we visit perhaps a few times a month. really nice atmosphere and staff are very welcoming and friendly. The pub raise alot of money for different charity's., great entertainment and quizzes. highly recommend!!”

“Had a fab time at the Ballet and the theatre is such a lovely well kept place. It has a very nostalgic feel and complemented the ballet perfectly.Staff were all really pleasant and service at the bar was quick and efficient. Will definately visit again.”

“Enjoyed the roast dinner sitting outside in the sunshine one late April Sunday. Great pint of Landlord, too. Themed nights including Caribbean. Nice pub with contemporary decor that has kept some traditional features inside, with the added outside area having been created to a great standard. Bikes zooming past along Chesterfield Road a bit annoying but the food distracted from that. Choice of beef, chicken or gammon, large freshly made yorkies, cauliflower cheese, a massive boat of gravy and accompanying veg. Good portion.. although it needed to be at £16! I would mention more about the high price of a Sunday lunch here, was it not for the fact that it was blooming delicious!! Grandma's Bread and butter pudding to finish (bloody lovely Grandma) and a couple of pints of Rutland ale. Great pub and well positioned for local walks before or after to Ashover and beyond. Great food, Good beer selection, well placed to explore the area and make a day of it.”

“First time visiting since re-opening and was really impressed. Reasonably priced hot drinks, soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches/hot food. Lovely and knowledgeable staff, lots of information about the Chesterfield Canal, local walks and boat trips available. My Mum and I had afternoon tea here too (new venture for them) and it was fantastic. Vegan and vegetarian options were appreciated.”
