“First time to this eatery, we had a shared platter between myself and the wife and we were not disappointed. For dessert I had the walnut sponge with syrup and vanilla ice-cream, and my wife had the orange sponge with syrup and vanilla ice-cream, with deserts were excellent. We will be calling again very soon.”

“Visited on many occasions,before, always excellent service.. booked a table for afternoon tea at £12 each for myself& daughter we specified what we wanted, could not fault it in any way. Fresh selection of sandwiches, cakes to die for and as for the scones definitely home made with fresh cream&jam. Lovely friendly ladies to serve our every whim! It was my daughters b/day and we were given a cake box to take bk with us as just couldnt eat it all. I shall be visiting again soon! :)”

“Visited today to buy some new running shoes, with very little idea of what I needed as a very new runner. I was served by Andy and he was absolutely brilliant. He shared his knowledge and understanding of running to guide me to the best trainers for me. Thank goodness for Andy he certainly made my choice a lot easier and I am so very happy with my shinny new runners. “Went here on Saturday night while visiting family in the area. We are from Vale of Glamorgan in Wales. Food was delicious and very generous portions. I had lamb potato chops for starter. I can absolutely recommend this. For my main I had the Bombay Salmon Tikka. This is new to the menu and I can honestly say it was the tastiest meal I have eaten for a long time. The staff were so polite and friendly. Service was amazing. Thank you x”

“Hands down the best place we’ve ever been too ! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was amazing and the staff made us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious. The drinks were amazing, never seen nothing like it we had such a good time ( who ever comes up with these ideas is amazing) The atmosphere was unreal, such a fun and lively place with great music(including Xmas music) You could really tell they care about giving people a great experience, when wr came for our booking it was really busy but the staff handled it perfectly. Honestly, this is the best place we’ve been for a while in stone, and it completely exceeded our expectations. We’re already planning our next visit couldn’t recommend it enough! “Cracking local pub with a small, but carefully curated, selection of cask ales. We regularly visit on Thursdays for the quiz night where you’re well looked after and the midweek munch over winter (£8 for a pint and a good bowl of beef stew) is dangerously good! Be aware that there isn’t a regular substantial food offering but if you arrive hungry they’ll sort something out for you!”

“Been to the Old town vaults a few times. Always great well kept ales. Called in on a Saturday afternoon in September. I had the Joules peach lager for the first time. Was a well good tasty ale. The pub was fairly quiet as to be expected in the mid afternoon. Music at a respectable volume. Will be back again soon. Keep up the good work.”

“We came as a family group of 6 and a toddler for a 60th birthday party on Saturday evening. The food and service was excellent. I don’t know the name of the waitress but she was exceptional. It was very busy but she still managed to be efficient, calm and find time to listen and talk to us in addition to having to rearrange the tables for another party. Our booking was under the name of Shaw so please thank the amazing young lady.”

“first time visited, arrrived 1:50pm on Wednesday, all desserts are £5 only. the service was good and the food that we ordered were tasty. buffalo chicken wings almost charged £1 per wing. the confit belly pork, steak pie and sea baa were delicious. both crumbles and sticky toffee pudding with custard were values for money (£5 per dessert on wednesday)”

“Service has been amazing. Nice and cool on a hot day, thanks for that. Food has been very good. Cocktails varied and novel. Can see why it is busy, and why everyone has a smile in their face. Price is decent, probably on the slight higher side, but certainly worth it. I’m not from around here, but I’d come back if I was, and can see why the locals frequent here. A little treasure on the Staffordshire waterways!”

The staff were attentive, despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon, with lots of other groups in too. What a beautiful, atmospheric place! “Wow. Guys I kid you not, the curries from Punjabi Kitchen are on a different level. Its not often I leave reviews but credit where credit is due. The freshness, the flavour, the quality and the friendly service is the complete package. The chicken jalfrezi was the best I've had in over 20 years, the wraps so fresh, loads of fillings, this place is a gem. Wife had a mild rogan josh and says it was absolutely beautiful. If you fancy a decent takeaway anytime I'd recommend these guys all day, every day.”

“Lovely pub with nice choice of drinks. Lovely food and cakes. There is a covered outside seating area with plenty of seating which is ideal. A made-up tyre place for children to amuse themselves. Worth a visit when on the railway”

“No parking onsite but there is a car park in the pub next door and a large car park 30 seconds down the road, waited around 5 mins for someone to get our reservation and seat us( this was a Saturday night and busy), after we were seated the service was excellent, lots of drinks to chose from especially whiskey and whiskey flights. The food was too good for words perfectly smoked and seasoned tasted amazing I would highly recommend. Portion sizes were decent too.”
