“We chose to go to the Woolpack to celebrate our wedding with our friends and family. Debbie, Martin and the team went above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. It was no easy task to cater for such a large group of people, and on a Saturday night. Every effort was made to get everyone’s food out in a timely manner. I thoroughly enjoyed my food and so did everyone else! The pub itself is lovely, really inviting and just a lovely vibe. Thank you again for making our celebration so special and memorable- see you again soon”

“Excellent pub with 12 real ale pumps. Mainly a vast range of Titanic ales and Everards. Opens spot on 12:00 Sunday. Many came for Sunday lunch. Near main railway station. 7 mins walk.”

“We stayed in our canper van in the beautifully laid out car park. Paying to park overnight gave us a voucher for 10% off our restaurant order which was brilliant. The food and the beer were really good, the indoor eating area was cosy and the staff were lovely. We'll definitely be back.”

“Nice comfortable pub with a large selection of Titanic Brewery ales (brewed down the road in Stoke), plus a couple of guest ales. Had the Totally Leek Burger which was just £7.95 for a very tasty burger garnished with cheese, bacon and salad, along with fries and onion rings - all sourced as locally as possible. A modest portion but really good quality and perfect for lunch.”

“Nice canalside pub. Stopped off for a lager and coffee. Idyllic setting. Updated Feb 2023. Had Sunday lunch. Delicious. Downside was the service. 50 minutes to get the meal and others who came in and ordered after us were served before us somehow.”

“The rooms around the back are cosy-sized but very comfortable. I stayed on a drizzly Wednesday night so there was no one sat outside the back of the pub and it was very quiet - can't say how quiet it would be on a Saturday night. The staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. They had my cooked breakfast ready when I came down in the morning as they knew I needed to leave early, and they locked my bike in a secure room and had it out ready in the morning without me having to ask. Just be aware that if you come by train, it's at the top of the hill!”

“Clan was out and about in this area and stopped here for food. Vegetarian and vegan options were amazing so the orders began. The service was wonderful. We were seen to our table and the one child with us was given a kids menu that they could draw and colour in to keep them entertained. It was pretty busy so I expected some delays in the food yet it arrived quickly. The food was amazing. In fact it was so good I ordered more and that arrived just as promptly. The lady servicing us was so helpful and would advise on food and drinks. Desserts were lovely too and everyone left with full bellies as there was something for everyone and all due credit to the kitchen team, it came out pretty fast and was delicious. Will definitely be back here when I'm in the area again. Enjoy.”

“Had an absolutely incredible dining experience at The New Dun Cow Bar & Grill! The star of our visit was their spectacular sharing platter of grilled meats. Every piece was cooked to perfection, with flavors that simply exploded in your mouth. The quality and freshness of the ingredients really stood out - you could tell they source their meats with care. What made this platter special was the variety and attention to detail in preparation. Each meat had its own distinct seasoning and char, while maintaining perfect tenderness. The portions were generous, making it ideal for sharing and sampling different cuts. The atmosphere complemented the meal perfectly, and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. This place has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorite restaurants. Already planning my next visit - this sharing platter is too good to have just once! “We were on the lookout for a spontaneous dinner and drinks spot and were pleased to stumble upon The House of the Rising Sun. From the moment we arrived, the customer service stood out—they made sure we were accommodated even though we didn’t have a reservation. Since it was a last-minute night out, we ended up seated at the high chairs, which were a bit uncomfortable, especially if you’re dressed up (like in a tight shirt dress). The interior design is impressive—stylish and atmospheric, though a little too dim for dining. It feels more like a place that’s tailored for drinks and conversation. One standout feature is the bar with its aquarium-style backsplash—absolutely eye-catching. We tried the Teriyaki Beef and Chicken Katsu. The katsu was excellent—crispy, flavorful, and definitely best enjoyed with rice. The beef, on the other hand, was slightly chewy and not as tender as expected. For drinks, we had the classic Mojito and their signature cocktail, Land of Smiles. The latter was a highlight—refreshing with a unique spicy kick that really elevated the experience. Overall, The House of the Rising Sun is a lovely spot for a date night, especially if you’re after a cozy ambiance and creative cocktails. We’d definitely go back—hopefully with a reservation next time!”

“We were served by Hannah C today at Ego Shrewsbury and I have to say she was excellent. So kind, caring and efficient. She catered for everyone’s needs superbly - from the youngest 4 year old to my 90 year old father. Thank you so much Hannah for making our family Christmas meal so relaxed. Food was yummy, atmosphere great. Thank you Ego. All your staff are a credit to you.”

“had a lovely time here today, Charles was our server and was polite, efficient and just generally great! We had lovely drinks from the bar and sat in the porch area which had a lovely breeze on a hot day like today, as well as a beautiful view of the river. The food came out fast despite it being quite busy in the restaurant and it was delicious! We look forward to visiting again soon :)”

“Very atmospheric place, very traditional old Shrewsbury, loved the gorgeous leaded windows, the old stone work etc. We were well looked after by Ash who went 'above and beyond', (thank you), lovely chap. He looked after 12 of us extremely well.... I was a bit surprised it was just Ash' on his own. Nothing was too much troubke. Management need to pay him more. I thought the background music was lovely, plus lovely NOT to get the cheesy Christmas music. PS Excellent liaison pre-event with Tamara by email. THANK YOU. (There were12 of us in the party).”

“Amazing food!! Freshly cooked and such a great price. We absolutely love this place and will return. I recommend the tandoori chicken and the handi curry. Toilets are well kept and clean. A local gem!! Take cash!!- no card payments!! We were pushed to write a Google review there and then, and the waitress stood over us to make sure we did it, which was a little uncomfortable, apart from that, the waitress was attentive and pleasant!!”

“Wonderful welcome. Very large comfortable bedrooms and superb food! A fabulous place that we will return to regularly. The landlady and landlord and fabulous team make sure every guest is happy. Whether visiting for a drink, food or overnight stay you will not be disappointed. The food portions are huge but save room for the lovely homemade desserts too!!”

“Great pub. We were staying nearby for the night, read there was tapas and took a wonder up to check it out. Beer is sublime, best pint of ale I've had in a while. Yes the tapas portions are big, but very nice, so no complaints for us! Beer garden has some awesome views and the sunset was amazing. If we are ever back this way we will come again.”
