βI enjoyed my meal on Sunday but I found the service bizarre. In retrospect, I wonder if we had done anything wrong. I am not sure when we arrived, but it might have been after three when they have stopped serving. My partner, who I know can be very difficult, asked the chef serving behind the Carvery, if she could have a Vegan meal. He agreed a special price for her, for just vegetables. I was given a special price, for only having a single carvery course. The problem came when we wanted to choose a table. The Sunday Girl initially insisted that we could only have a table in which the cutlery was laid out. We eventually had a table by a window which was much lighter. The extra work involved moving a knife and fork. At this point, my partner decided she did not want anything at all. So she left me on my own, which I was quite happy about. I was feeling hungry and I had wanted to eat at the Porterhouse for a long time. So far, so good. I enjoyed my meal. When I finished I stood by the entrance to pay. The Sunday Girl pointedly ignored me and chatted with her colleagues at the bar. I walked over to the bar to pay. I was presented with a bill for two people by the Sunday Girl. When I protested, the chef reduced this by half. A lot of people find these confrontations surprisingly unpleasant.β
βCame here after a very wet and wild trip to Dunnottar Castle on a yellow weather warning day. Was soaked through and the cafe was very warm and served delicious soup. Was pretty busy so was lucky to get a tableβ
βNovember 2024 I took a ring in to be re-sized. It was completed ahead of time and the end result is beautiful. It looks brand new rather than the 140+ years it has been in existence. Thank you Sinclairs, a great job. Update. January 2025 Had to take my ring back in as the diamond had fallen out. The setting had basically worn away over the decades I have had it. A new diamond and a brand new setting. I think it looks better now than ever. Thank you for a great job.β
βWe visited a few months ago and were blown away by the quality of the food and service at The RΓ€v. The decor and interior design is tasteful and relaxing; service is friendly and efficient; and the food is excellent. The soup of the day was a spiced pumpkin and carrot soup, which was perfectly seasoned and paired well with a basket of freshly-baked breads. Both the Swedish meatballs and cauliflower mains were delicious. Desserts rounded off the meal nicely.β
βIt was absolutely delectable I had the continental breakfast and brownie at 2pm! It is definitely a must stop cafe if youβre in Aberdeen!β
βI stopped by for a takeaway coffee on my way to the beach. There was a good distancing one way system, the staff were lovely and helpful and the coffee was decent. I also got 2 home bakes, which were delicious. For 2 slices and a coffee, it came to around Β£6, which I thought was reasonable. Update: we returned here and the coffee was, again, lovely and great value!β
βExcellent cafe, got a full breakfast and pot of tea. Polite and efficient staff in a welcoming atmosphere. Food was good and was good value. Staff allergy aware and one of the first questions asked. Great to see this level of allergy awareness.β
βFirst time here last night for a friend's birthday meal. The food was excellent and we had attentive service from our waiter. The food was reasonably priced and our per person cost included lots of drinks & service tip!! Our table was from 4 - 7pm and then we reserved the area in their bar for a few drinks afterwards. Great place and I'll definitely be back.β

βOne of the best bars in Aberdeen. All the staff and customers are so friendly and welcoming. So nice to see a place which has such a lovely mix of students and locals who all get along so well. If you are a student, from Aberdeen or just visiting the Red Lion needs to be on your visiting list!β
βWe sat and listened to the locals over a few pints. So entertaining, as we aren't from here.β
βFood was absolutely amazing. I was back in Aberdeen after a hill walk outside the city late in the afternoon and decided to reserve a table here on a whim. It was the odd hour between lunch and dinner so naturally it wasn't busy at all. Had seabass pan-fried over a veloute and pressed rice, absolutely beautiful and delicious. Dessert was fantastic, chocolate mousse over berries compote and tuile. What I quite love is the portion is perfect, I didn't feel too much at all, a healthy portion.β
βJust had lunch here.. cheap as chips and delicious served with smiles... never been here before but I'll be back for sure... top marksβ

βHad Sunday brunch in this gorgeous cafe today. Lovely menu choices and opted for Eggs Benedict which were cooked to perfection and served promptly by very friendly and helpful staff. Had both coffee and tea with the eggs and again both were delicious! Would thoroughly recommend this cafe any day for breakfast, lunch or a coffee but particularly for Sunday brunch - well done to everyone at Orkaβ
β"Personally, my experience at the wooden bar was delightful. The cozy atmosphere and well-crafted wooden decor created a charming backdrop for a memorable evening. The owners were friendly and welcoming, adding a personal touch to the overall experience. As for the meals, they exceeded expectations. The menu showcased a thoughtful selection of dishes, each highlighting quality ingredients and exquisite flavours. From appetizers to main courses, every bite was a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. βIt's hilarious when 2 people write a bad review and can't even get their facts straight. 2 coffees and 2 pastries is just over Β£15 here btw. Anyway, always time to give a cracking review to one of the best cafes in town, with a wonderful manager, homemade high quality food and extremely high quality coffee.β
