“The highlight of our trip to Dorset this year, was Twelth Night performed by the Duke's Theatre Company at Kingston Lacey. A perfect summer evening for outdoor theatre, and we loved the mixture of contemporary and traditional costume, song and set design. The cast were amazing, each actor performing multiple roles with energy and enthusiasm. Thank you, we loved it and hope to see you again.”
“Andy entertained about 40 children for 2 hours at my son’s 5th birthday. He had them captivated the whole time. They adored him and he had them in stitches. Absolutely brilliant from start to end. Top quality entertainer- he’s the best you are going to get.”
“Fabulous space, even those seated at the back feel engaged with the action which makes for a much more intimate (and sometimes more moving) experience than you might find in a larger theatre. The productions are high quality, well acted with strong production values. Would definitly recommend.”
“World famous opera house ona. Private estate. Prides it's sellf on its picnic intervals. Producing some of Europe's greatest opera productions”
“We had the most amazing time at The Hope Hive for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party. Rebecca, Sheryl and the team were absolutely fantastic in ensuring my daughter and her 25 friends and their parents had a fabulous time! Everything was taken care of and it couldn’t have gone any better - role play, soft play, outdoor toys, water and sand play. Lovely lunchboxes and the perfect space for a party.”
“Jonathan was amazing. 15 children aged between 4-6. I didn’t have to worry about a thing as the children were hooked from the moment the party started. Jonathan remembered key details from our initial call and was helpful and suggestive for the best experience for the children. We went for the 2hr package and it was worth every penny. A few parents have asked for his details because he was that good. Even the parents were in hysterics during the magic show. Would recommend highly. Thank you for a making our son’s birthday extra special”
“Nativity was another outstanding performance from Trinity and their Youth Theatre. Professional with such a talented cast, both young and old(er). The youth theatre performances are always full of joy, talent and energy, but this was another level again. I don’t know how they do it!”
“I really enjoyed my experience there! I love the historic building. The people who work three are friendly and polite. The seats are comfy. I've been meaning to visit for long time, and finally I did. And I'll certainly come back for more films to watch”
“Lovely place and the fact that the films you can see here are so many I got curious to watch more in the future!”
“Great atmosphere. Went to see, Slippjng through my fingers as part of Brighton fringe. Was a very moving and relatable play. Incredible cast and very moving.”
“A lovely intimate theatre, great variety of plays through the year. Such a good experience for young and old. Especially for me personally, as I trod the boards there many moons ago. Happy memories made then and now”
“Very highly standard performances - certainly at the show I was at - plus a lovely bar area serving drinks at reasonable prices.”
“What a lovely small theatre, so friendly. They encourage all the children to join in & put on great family shows.”
“Fabulous little theatre run by lovely people - a great asset to the town!”
“Wonderful, charming and intimate venue. Approx 300 seats mostly raked where everyone has a great view of the stage and the performers. On this occasion it was an evening with John Illsley, formerly of Dire Straits. Wonderful stories as well as a live band performing songs from every Dire Straits album.”
“My wife and I booked to see Venom: The Last Dance on a whim as this was the only cinema with advanced bookings and we're so glad we did! Sleekly designed, clean, modern and spacious it really made going to the cinema feel like a luxury. The sofas were so much more comfortable than traditional seating and having legroom as two six foot people was superb. The staff were engaging, polite, welcoming and helpful. They even went out of their way to offer a substitution on my wife's ice cream sundae when they'd run out of matchmakers. The food and drink was reasonably priced considering the level of service as well as being delicious. The decaf cappuccino I had was of good quality and that's rare to come by. Overall, we're completely sold on this cinema being the best visit to watch a movie of our adult lives, we will be back, and you should check it out too.”
“Just incredible atmosphere. Seats placed so no one blocking view in front. Breathtaking production of Come From Away.”
“Went to see the Rock orchestra by candlelight highly recommend Really impressed haven't been for a few years The one downside it's cashless which I don't agree with Plenty of on street parking free after 6 pm Overall a good experience”
“Lovely old Victorian architecture and ample seating. A great place to relax and see a show. Friendly staff and a good variety of snacks and drinks available. Please may I say a special thank you to the female usher with the short hair who was kind enough to assist me on Saturday 6th December at the 2pm pantomime performance (Peter pan) I was embarrassingly overcome by a fear of heights and she was so compassionate and understanding and found me and my family new seats. Thank you so much to this member of staff who is a credit to the Devonshire.”
“Lovely atmosphere. Great staff and a really nice little bar area. A proper local theatre with history that's looked after and cared for. Looking forward to coming back again.”
“Went here to watch one of the film that was on during the week (Urchin) and had a wonderful experience. Very smooth process from booking online, arriving and interacting with very friendly staff. Then the actual theatre. Absolutely comfortable 10/10. Very clean environment; comfortable seating; and the sound system was perfect. Literally had a better movie experience here than I did at a much larger operated cinema 2 days prior.”
“Great small venue. Crowded but not "sardines"! Standing only but noticed some seats had been reserved and a few people sitting in them near the front which was lovely to see - great inclusion for those that struggle to stand for a gig. Presume this was arranged in advance.”
“Saw Rock&Pole show very entertaining, went with our best woman from our wedding.”
“Really loved this beautiful theatre. The performance was truly amazing. Congratulations to all the performers of Handel Acis & Galatea, especially Robert Slater. Staff friendly and helpful.”
“Very nice theatre! Went to watch the Robinson crusoe pantomime by Durrington theatrical society! Very good!”
““Every cloud has a silver lining”. This is so much true for what happened with the Hever Festival theatre. After a devastating fire a couple of years ago, the management has done everything possible to rebuild the premises, and continue with the marvellous summer festival - in almost impossible conditions. However, now a days the new open theatre looks amazing, has a large see-through roof and the seating is as comfortable as ever. Combined with a choice of either luxury dining in the Pavilion near the lake or a picnic anywhere on the grounds, if one so wishes, it is a marvellous place to spend a long afternoon and evening. But that’s not the only plus! The event promoters for this lovely venue have done outstanding job engaging highly professional, highly skilled, super talented artists, musicians, singers, actors, comedians, entertainers. There hasn’t been one performance that has fallen below par. Each event leaves so much joy and pleasure! Each performance is provided by extremely well rehearsed, polished, professional acts. Another plus - the volunteers. It’s rare nowadays to come to a venue where the ushers, helpers and ticket booth checkers are so kind, calm, well trained and helpful! Well done! And if the British wether behaves, each summer night spent at the Festival theatre can turn easily into a forever memorable event. The new building relies on the government’s and the public support.”
“What a brilliant little theatre! A Lewes gem. Comfy seats, fabulous little bar upstairs serving Harvey. Heck, there’s even real tea on tap. I can’t comment on the quality of the plays (ours was a blast: Hound of the Baskervilles), but the venue is marvellously sincere.”
“We used the Dome for our wedding reception last month, James and his team were fantastic from start to finish. What should have been a very stressful event was super simple and the day went perfectly. All of our guests were blown away with the service, quality of the food and how beautiful the venue was. I would highly recommend for your wedding!!”
“Best panto around !! My favourite theatre! Every seat has a great view, the sound is awesome. I've been to a few different shows now and have loved every one!”
