“The Acorn is a hammerite pub... Does what it says on the tin. This is a traditional drinking pub. Darts, pool, a fruit machine and dominoes. A throwback to simpler times and is an oasis in a world of gastro pubs. You can sit in the corner with a pint and read a paper or you can join in with the conversation at the time. Friendly welcome in the bar where everyone knows your name!”
“A beer-lover's dream: A great little 'micro-pub' with fantastically fresh beer served in perfectly clean glasses. The chap running the place is a connoisseur of beer! A good selection and if you don't know what you want; he's more than happy to talk you through your choices. A fantastic bloke who clearly cares about his customers”
“Great little pub, it has a cosy feeling about it. There is a great selection of beers.”
“Great pub we popped in for a drink on a Monday evening as we were staying near by. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Great service at the bar and comfortable surroundings. Highly recommend a drink in there if your passing.”
“Cash only! There is a cash point 4mins away and they have a laminated map to help you. This is a beautiful pub. The garden is lovely and the inside is just perfect. They brew their own beer and it’s very good. It looks a little unwelcoming from the street but as soon as you cross the threshold you are made to feel at home by the friendly staff.”
“Lovely pub, with friendly staff and locals. A few pool sharks.”
“Very good micro pub with six real ales. Friendly staff. Quality beers. Happy Days.”
“Great Sunday lunch and genuine great service. We went in to see what it was like before booking out the place for a wedding nearby. Loved the food can’t wait to return!!”
“Lovely stop off on a nice local walk for a bit of tapas and a couple of pints. Great atmosphere in what is one of Stapleford’s nicer watering holes.”
“Went in for a couple of drinks. Had a really nice time. Very friendly staff and lucky enough to sample the new menu which I will definitely be back to try more.”
“We went for breakfast with santa and it was lovely! Staff were lovely. Santa was lovely. Atmosphere was lovely. Food was lovely and so reasonably priced! Overall a lovely pub and lovely experience! We've not long moved to the area and will definitely be making lots more visits here!”
“As a group of 39 people we were all seated in the outdoor pods for sunday lunch on 11th November. The atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were polite and friendly. Once seated, it was a matter of minutes before our drinks orders were taken and we got told our pre ordered food wouldn't be long. Considering the size of our group and the pub itself was extremely busy, it was impressive how quickly we all got served. The staff were amazing, nothing asked was too much for them! The food was spectacular! With mainly roast dinners being ordered, no one said a bad word about anything. The meat just fell apart and the portions were generous. I would definitely recommend The Bluebell to anyone visiting the area, although I think booking would be the best option as extremely busy!”
“Our booking was for 20 people. The service was efficient and helpful, and everyone was served in good time. Two people ordered the Aubergine dish, but it wasn't to their taste, an exchange was offered, and no charge was made. It was handled very well. Much appreciated how they sorted out the bill for us to pay individually. Excellent!”
“First time here, since it's been turned into an Indian based menu. With that the selection was reduced, but the food was really nice. All whilst being quite reasonable. It wasn't too busy and the people there were very friendly. Great experience overall”
“Called in today no booking made which is unusual for myself, service and food absolutely great as usual, even though they were busy. As regular visitors to the beacon couldn't recommend it enough. Staff always friendly and polite, food is excellent quality and value for money. Keep up the great work Leah and the team.”
“A pleasant country pub in pretty rural surroundings. I visited with a friend ona busy Friday evening. The staff were friendly, polite, professional and managed that difficult balance of attentiveness and unobtrusiveness perfectly. Both the selection of food available and it’s quality was very good, I will have to go back to try more of the menu soon. There was a wait between ordering and service but that is expected in the context of properly cooked food and I would not want it to change.”
“Just been for meal at this little treasure of a restaurant. Service was beyond friendly, lovely ambience, food was out of this world. Being vegetarian for 40 years I do get bored of the same menu BUT they had a few amazing different options which I went for the beetroot and lentil bourguignon which tasted outstanding. My husband had for the pork belly and also agreed the food was beyond delicious. Very Highly recommended.”
“Came here for a meal on Saturday, having never been before but hearing many good things. I was super pleased! Lovely decor and friendly staff, and food was lovely. I had the aranchini to start, steak and ale pie for main and the pecan and treacle tart to finish, all of which were delicious. My partner also really enjoyed his meal. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.”
“Possibly my favourite pub in Burton; wish it was my local! Rare type of pub that feels welcoming at any time of day but also convivial of an evening.”
“Popped in with friend for glass of wine and catch up. Friendly staff. Always a nice visit.”
“Lovely Sunday lunch and plenty of it with a large side of cauliflower cheese. Great service and good atmosphere. Try it out.”
“Great food at this pub and relaxed service just sit down like a normal pub and go order at bar. Monday to wednesday they have two pizzas for £20 in the evening and they are really fantastic pizzas good crisp base very good sauce also very good pepperoni. Crispy chilli beef was great with huge helping of beef and the satay curry was super! With lots of fresh veg and even had bonito flakes on the rice. Also, puddings were generous portions, really nice but we could have shared one. Could have come here for the whole holiday with how much variety they have on the menu.”
“Had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast here for a birthday treat. I've never had a multiple course breakfasts in this sort of format, so that was interesting. The location is adorable, especially if you can get a window seat. Staff were patient and friendly. The food was amazing! Good quality ingredients, tasteful sauces. The crumpet for my eggs benedict initially looked store bought, but it had much better flavour and texture when eating. Mushrooms on toast was so savoury and creamy, but not overly saucy. The brioche used was not overly sweet, so a good balance for various plates. Would happily return, and looking forward to trying a lunch/dinner menu.”
“Lovely service, very friendly, accommodated food preference and walk-in. Great atmosphere - highly recommend.”
“Been a few times, great service, good hookahs. Probably the best in Derby. Nice prices and interior of the place. Great choice of tobacco flavours, would add a choice of tobacco itself and it was super.”
“We loved this pub! We had two dinners and drinks here. The staff were friendly, fun and helpful. The ambience was cozy and comfortable, perfect for our group of 5. The food was well prepared and delicious.”
“This was our first flight from East Midlands Airport as we usually fly from other airports. We spend around an hour and half in this beautiful lounge using Priority pass. Lounge was not too busy and it was tidy / clean with very friendly and helpful staff. Had plenty of freshly made and tasty vegetarian food options. Considering the food taste, this is one of the best lounges we have been to in the UK. They serve tea, coffee soft and alcoholic drinks in the lounge. They didn't have any non-alcoholic beer etc but was pleasantly surprised to find non-alcoholic gin / tonic which was quite good.”
“Went for lunch after visiting the Helios display at Kedleston Hall. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was varied, hot and well presented. The dishes we had were nice and spicy too. Beer was good and the overall atmosphere was welcoming.”
“Brilliant pub. Quirky decor that is truly fascinating. Prices are great and food is really tasty. Lovely place, cant recommend enough. Well worth a visit.”
“I've lived a stones throw from this place for about a decade now and I've only just started visiting. It's a great little pub. Excellent service with a spacious beer garden outside. Can't go wrong.”
