“Came in here Sunday night purely for the Toffanilla as I saw it on the Real Ale Finder app. Got speaking to the landlord about the porter and he told me the history behind it. Probably one of the best porter’s I’ve ever had. Exceptional. So glad I went. Lovely place and a lovely welcoming landlord. Will try and get back at the weekend, just for that porter!”

“It's taken us ages to actually get round to booking a table but decided to take our friend here for his birthday. We were really impressed with the food and the service. I had a steak which was cooked perfectly and the chips and onion rings were amazing. The rest of the meals were great and it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. To top it off they even brought out a surprise dessert with a candle on for the birthday boy. Thanks for a great meal.”

“We visited today for my birthday and oh my goodness it's was brilliant. Absolutely fantastic service from a very friendly guy (didn't get his name!) from the minute we walked in. So refreshing to have a waiter who does things so well. Cocktails were lovely and well made and the birthday card was a very nice touch. We both had three courses, and finished every last bit of it all! Really delicious. My husband particularly enjoyed the Thai sweet potato soup and I absolutely loved the rump of lamb. The flavours were so fresh and delicious. Felt like a real treat to visit somewhere so lovely. Can't wait to revisit! Thank you!”

“Stayed her one night, also had dinner and breakfast Accommodation was first rate starting with a warm greeting. The room was well appointed, clean and quiet. Would definitely stay here again. The dinner was top notch gastropub with great service and food. The bar well stocked with great wines and real ales. Breakfast was amazing and well beyond the normal fry. Would definitely eat here again.”

“Came here for the first time tonight after the refurb, Finn is an asset to the team, he went above and beyond. Great at delegating professionally to make things run as effectively as possible! Only thing I would say is that the chips could be made more crispier as they were on the dryer side. I do hope Finn gets the recognition he deserves for providing excellent customer service.”

“Lovely place, took my nan, sister and mum for afternoon tea. Great food , lovely choice of sandwiches and cakes on two stands , big teapots of tea and you can have coffee too. I asked for gluten free bread which was no problem at all for them. The homemade scones were a massive hit with us all! I could of just had them , they were so good. Lovely atmosphere and great service, staff very friendly and nothing is to much bother. Worth a visit and good value for money for the afternoon tea.”

“I needed to meet a colleague for lunch, and Melbourne happens to be equidistant from our houses. I came across Meaks online. It looked like a good quality venue with a large menu and reasonable pricing. I sent a quick email to double check they would be open, have availability and that they would not mind us sitting for a couple of hours with our laptops. I was surprised to get a response almost immediately. Most venues don't seem to reply at all, let alone so quickly. I arrived early because breakfast looked great too! Neither of us was disappointed. We had breakfast, coffee, a snack and then sandwiches. All were great. I didn't realise until afterwards, but your coffee is under-priced. I would thoroughly recommend and I am now looking for excuses to make the trip again so I can try something else! Thanks again Meaks”

“We visited on Sunday to go through the stores extensive range of loose single TCG cards for Pokemon. The store is always tidy and the staff are very polite and welcoming. We stayed in store for a couple of hours and had coffee. The store is popular with the gaming community as they sell a wide range of gaming and card based items. The store has tables set up for you to play the large array of games they have in store for free and for you to join with friends to play card games and Role Playing Games. They serve food also and the prices are very reasonable and the food looked great. It's a great place to meet friends and like minded people.”

“The food here was stunning. Chose 3 options from the £4.95 menu including the mac n cheese and the loaded fries and we weren't disappointed by any. All 3 were superb.. really tasty and filling. Will definitely be returning and recommending ... A perfect 1st visit.. 5*”

“A cute cafe, not very busy, lovely spot to get some breakfast/lunch. The portions are massive and reasonably priced. Staff are really friendly. We ordered the vegetarian breakfast and the club sandwich, both were great. Club sandwich chicken was quite peppery so would avoid it if you don’t like pepper.”

“Often visit new places and hope to find a place like this. Considered other cafes in the town before deciding to try this one and so glad we did. Really excellent food and coffee, friendly and helpful staff and reasonable prices. All in an interesting former church ( recently moved in?). Will definitely be back when next in the area.”

“Absolutely LOVE it here! It is a bit expensive but definitely worth it. They cater for all ages & do afternoon teas which I have done four of for my nieces birthdays ranging from 3yrs to 13yrs. There is an 'adult' one & a unicorn one for younger children. However, I gather that they will try to cater for your childs ' theme as much as possible. Staff are really helpful & friendly with table service provided. There is a gift shop that sells some unique items as well as cards & bath bombs. It's an amazing treat for adults & children alike, I highly recommend a visit here.”
