Cafe in Derby

“This is a busy cafe during peak times but I went in at 10 am and they had just opened up and there were many seats available. Tickes most boxes for me, therefore is also wheelchair access and a pay and display car park nearby too. It is fairly small but you can wait for a seat however, they put extra furniture outside on a good day, I definitely recommend this cafe.”

“The White Hart is our favourite pub! Dave & Trudy are super attentive and go above and beyond for their customers. It’s got a great atmosphere, plenty of drink selection & also sausage rolls & cobs if you fancy a snack! There’s a pool table & a great darts set up with a cosy outdoor back yard area and a beer garden. Highly recommend. Thanks Dave & Trudy :)”

“This was our first visit and we were really impressed. Excellent pub interior and it has a really large beer garden and car park. Friendly staff and a great drink of Bass. On our visit, there was a food stall (some may call it a burger van) in the car park. Our three burgers and chips were excellent. We'll be back!”

“I come from Colorado in the States, the land of craft breweries. We literally are the top state for breweries in the US. For the last 30 years, since uni, I have been drinking microbrews. Shiny Tap is legit! I had the 4 Wood Cask Bitter. Absolutely brilliant. Smooth, easy drinking. Then had the Double Damson. If you aren't used to a sour, haven't had one, try it. Wow. Very impressed. Outdoor seating area is tops.”

“The Acorn is a hammerite pub... Does what it says on the tin. This is a traditional drinking pub. Darts, pool, a fruit machine and dominoes. A throwback to simpler times and is an oasis in a world of gastro pubs. You can sit in the corner with a pint and read a paper or you can join in with the conversation at the time. Friendly welcome in the bar where everyone knows your name!”

“Realy friendly pub with a great atmosphere. Always someone in the to chat with. Super friendly staff, great selection of beers.. with different ones each time you go in . No actual food available .. but ...the pop up punjab kitchen visits regularly ... Will be in again next time we pass .. handy for the cinema too!! Keep it up every one.. love the decor!”

“Lovely breakfast this morning. Fresh, hot and lots of it! Really nice place too. Decent service.”

“Four of us went for breakfast, arriving at around 0930hrs. It was busier than we expected, but we got a table next to the cakes, which looked lovely. Our orders were a vegetarian breakfast, Avocat des Oeufs and two Derbyshire Oat Cakes. The two who ordered the Oat Cakes wanted scrambled eggs and mushroom, which wasn't on the menu, but this wasn't an issue at all, they were happy to do it (a sign that they are actually making the food freshly, not just opening packets, methinks). One of our party accidentally put chocolate powder on their poached egg, thinking it was pepper. This was replaced by a fresh egg with no hesitation by the staff, they even removed the egg and muffin from the plate, brought the unaffected egg/muffin back so it could be eaten at the same time as the rest of us, and then arrived with the replacement egg when it was ready. This is the sort of service you want everywhere, Even though they were really busy, every table was occupied, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The food was really good too, and not expensive. Four breakfasts, four hot drinks, £40 (just under!) Definitely recommend, definitely going again next time we're in the area. Six or seven stars.....”

“Good, polite service and delicious food. Tablecloths on the tables were clean as was everything else. The salmon starter was quite a small portion, but the mains were big portions to balance it out. The veg that came with the Sunday lunches was all delicious. Would highly recommend the restaurant.”

“Myself and my partner were travelling for a Rally and wanted to go up night before. I rang here and they said staying over in Motorhome wasn't a problem as long as we had a meal and drinks which wasn't a problem for us. Rang on the way on Thursday 29/05/2025 to confirm and was told maybe busy due to Classic car show which is held there on Thursday nights (but do ring to confirm this). But we were still welcome. The place as drove in was amazing with big lake view. We parked up and went in and was greeted by friendly, welcoming lovely staff and owners. James and his team really helpful and friendly. We bought drinks which was reasonably priced. We had the carvery which was absolutely amazing and so tasty and hot definitely worth the money. The place is so clean and tidy. The whole building inside and outside is lovely to look at. There is plenty of seating inside and outside with garden seating area overlooking the lake. Plenty of parking. The walk around the lake was nice and seeing all the ducks and Canadian geese. There is fishing allowed and rules which are in view. We are hoping to stop here again in few weeks. So if travelling and want to stop for night give them a ring. Cannot fault this place. Definitely going again and recommend. Reading the history of the building is interesting. Nice village to travel through. We woke to amazing view and so quiet in the night.. They also cater for various functions..”

“We hired The Little Kitchen for our works Christmas night out, and Donna and her team never fail to impress. They are so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely can’t do enough for you. We had the turkey Christmas dinner, which was absolutely delicious — a proper home-cooked meal with plenty of veg options. The red cabbage was especially amazing! There were two dessert choices, and I went for the chocolate one, which was so nice. They even let us bring along our own silly team games, which was perfect for our very competitive group. This was our second year returning, and we honestly wouldn’t find anywhere better for quality food and such a warm, friendly atmosphere. Thank you once again”

“We hadn't visited for a few year's, but I used to bring my grandmother regularly for lunch before she went in a nursing home. Booking there today after her funeral was the perfect farewell. We booked a table for 7 people, we had a mixture of the main menu and the festive menu. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and excellent value for money. It was a lovely atmosphere and we had the loveliest of servers. Thank you so much, we will make sure we return more often”

“Amazing venue, the decor is a riotous mixture Hollywood and middle east the food is Amazing and great value for money, The thing that really makes it special is the warmth of the welcome from the super friendly, helpful and perfectly polite staff in particular Navpreet who was too modest to appear in the pictures.”

The service from James was superb, not just to me, but consistently from what I observed, I’d say the best I’ve personally witnessed, kind & personable. Great pint as well, would recommend.”
