“Absolutely top notch. Had my boys at another competing school in EDI for a bit and found the culture gravely lacking, and teachers unwilling to really care about it beyond a bit of lip service. In contrast, Merchi walks the talk through and through. Very 'real,' happy, enriched boys who support each other and are supported by teachers and staff with emotional intelligence and true caring for the experience and excitement for learning. Fabulous education. Where at prior school the kids cut each other down, here one of my sons had a peer warmly talk him through some homesickness as he tried to fall asleep, etc. Such a warm, welcoming place and parents are always about and welcome. Whereas the prior school was a scratchy starched shirt, Merchi is a warm, cozy cashmere jumper. You really can't find better. Be sure to do a taster day as again, some schools sell well but your child can only thrive and be happy and excited to go to school if the experience is amazing every single day, with every single teacher. And as a lesson learned on my part - trust your child after the taster day. You don't want to have to switch schools after 3 months because Mom and Dad were impressed by a lower-culture school just b/c "TB went there..." Merchi offers the real thing through and through.”

“I’ve been going there for adult swim lessons for over a year. Thomas is the best swim coach I’ve ever had. I’ve had many lessons for the past many years but nobody can match Thomas. I came from deep trauma of being in water. Thomas has helped me progress from zero to now capable of being confident in water (not deep water yet) by myself while learning techniques to swim. I consider myself the most difficult swim student. He’s very patient, resourceful, funny and 100% great in coaching non-swimmers. Their management also gave me a trial day pass for the gym and allowed me to use their gym one other day while my usual sports centre was closed for refurbishment. I have only great things to say about them. Fully recommend the centre.”

“Yesterday, I had the opportunity to undergo surgery at the Royal Infirmary Hospital in Edinburgh. The service, medical staff, and doctors in the Day Surgery Unit were absolutely top-notch. After the surgery, I stayed in the post-operative ward, where the staff were also incredibly kind, courteous, and professional. I'd like to say a big thank you to Tracy, who was incredibly kind and funny. Overall, the patient care was top-notch. My warmest regards to all of you, and thank you for turning a stressful day into an unforgettable, wonderful experience. It's a pity that I can only give you 5 stars because you deserve much more.”

But today especially, she has shown me great kindness beyond her job description, she supported me through the application process and even read over my personal statement. “I joined the Joint Pain programme 6 months ago and found it very beneficial. All staff were extremely helpful. The class leader was very patient and pleasant, the physiotherapist was excellent and I appreciated the fact that he accompanied me to the gym, giving reassurance that I was doing things that would not be harmful. I found the cafe very convenient and reasonably priced. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere with Freddie and all those on duty made the whole exercise experience a pleasure and one to be continued.”

“Sectioned twice in 1973 - dreadful experience but three years ago in 2023 I was admitted to Eden Ward a revolutionary experience so much has changed, Spiritual centre, music therapy, craft group, excellent staff given the potentially stressful situations on the ward. Eden Ward was exactly that the Garden of Eden built round a cloister with raised beds, trees and benches for the patients to to enjoy the sun. The only fault I could find were the cigarette butts left on the ground a revolting disrespectful habit in such a beautiful place. The staff were generally speaking very caring and compassionate, some youngsters working and also training. The Consultant was very busy and it was difficult to have an appointment to see him but all in all a rewarding experience..”

“I booked a private group Dollar Canyon day trip from Edinburgh for a stag do and it was a great experience from the fast response to my first enquiry, to being dropped back at the door of our hotel after an amazing day canyoning. A few of the group had fear of heights but the team was very supportive and allowed everyone to enjoy the day.
