“I booked a trial flight for my husband, in his 80's at the time, a few years ago. We actually went to the airfield, in the depths of winter, to book it. As we got near he said aren't we near that little airfield. It was only then that I told him that that was our destination. The staff could not have been nicer and more helpful. While a lovely young man showed him around the small planes that were parked outside, I discussed what I wanted with a young woman. It was only then that I realised that if I booked a 4 seater I could accompany him. The actual flight, which we took when the weather improved, was "the best experience of his life", he still says.”

“Love this cafe! Such a lovely area, the staff are great and the food is amazing. If you want to get to the cafe, you have to go to the right hand side and press the buzzer for the cafe and they let you in. Lots of parking and great way to watch the aircrafts.”

“Just had the experience where you fly over York, as we were not sure if my wife would like it. In her own words "it was amazing" and a tick on her bucket list! Oliver was superb and kept us up to date in the days before the experience, and on the day met us at the airfield. He explained everything and the flight with him was perfect. Would recommend Yorkshire Helicopters, and for those who who are afraid of heights, you completely forget that and just enjoy the flight. Wish now we had booked a longer experience. We have just returned home today due to changing our flights to leave early and I literally gave these guys a few hours notice of needing to be collected from the airport earlier than arranged. “Just returned from a 5 day trip to Blackpool at the Ruskin Hotel which we highly recommend and cannot praise this company enough. From beginning to end has been a pleasure. All pickups have been on time and drivers very pleasant and very helpful. Our driver Eddie was a scream, we never stopped laughing, especially as he met his match with a lady on our bus, the banter between them was second to none and had our jaws aching with laughter, (keep it up Eddie), which she loved as much as we did. The bus was clean and comfortable with plenty of leg room, even in the front seats were we sat. Although the days out to Skipton and Fleetwood markets were dissapointing, only because the markets aren't as good as they used to be, the Bury market was just as good as it always is. we still enjoyed the ride out. We got a very pleasant surprise on the way home, don't know if it was because we were the first pickup and obviously would be last drop off, but we were taken straight to our door which was very much appreciated as we were loaded up with bags and very weary by this point, so thank you very very much for that. Will definitely be booking more trips with CAB. Keep up the good work.”

“Went here to celebrate 25 yrs since our first date and we were looked after by all the staff who couldn't have done any more for us if they tried. When we arrived there was a card and bottle of prosecco on our table from the staff which was a lovely gesture. Food was spot on on arrival you got tea and biscuits then a 3 course meal to have as and when you wanted it then afternoon tea was served. All other staff that took us and looked after us in the parade and winners enclosures were so friendly and made you feel special. If you want to have a great day at the races with wonderful staff I highly recommend Pontefract Racecourse.”

Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concerns
The hotel was clean throughout — from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and won’t operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Quality
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to order—just ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundings
The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floor—turning something ordinary into part of the décor. There’s a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, there’s something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphere
Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilities
The hotel offers lots of thoughtful amenities: A well-equipped workout room directly opposite the lifts Fast, clean lifts with fun selfie-style Instagram templates inside Monthly event notices and clear signposting throughout the hotel A first-floor ironing room accessible with your room key Modern, comfortable guest rooms with sensor lights under the bed (perfect for late-night bathroom trips), air conditioning, USB ports, a European plug socket, a wing-backed chair, a kettle with tea/coffee and Biscoff biscuits, and secure locking feature. Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful night’s sleep — something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overall
