βWhat a find! Had a wonderful long weekend in studio 1. So peaceful and beautiful views. Well equipped with everything you could need and a very comfortable bed! Brilliant location for exploring the area and some good walks right from the front door. Excellent communication with Heather, the owner. Highly recommend.β

βGreat well refurbished building, I have an office here and the service and attention to detail by the Michael Ops Manager and his team is excellent.β
βProbably THE best salon Iβve been to. So friendly, fab new decor & great value for money. With her years of experience Vicki knows exactly what I want & has so much patience when Iβm deciding on what colour to have! I wonβt go anywhere else β€οΈβ
βThis is our own experience with this business, and we know different clients will have different experiences β but we always leave reviews based on the service we received when we ordered or visited. Review for: Moxy York β Black Horse Lane, York First Impressionsβ¨Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concernsβ¨The hotel was clean throughout β from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and wonβt operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Qualityβ¨Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to orderβjust ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundingsβ¨The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floorβturning something ordinary into part of the dΓ©cor. Thereβs a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, thereβs something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphereβ¨Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilitiesβ¨The hotel offers lots of thoughtful amenities: A well-equipped workout room directly opposite the lifts Fast, clean lifts with fun selfie-style Instagram templates inside Monthly event notices and clear signposting throughout the hotel A first-floor ironing room accessible with your room key Modern, comfortable guest rooms with sensor lights under the bed (perfect for late-night bathroom trips), air conditioning, USB ports, a European plug socket, a wing-backed chair, a kettle with tea/coffee and Biscoff biscuits, and secure locking feature. Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful nightβs sleep β something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overallβ¨We wouldnβt hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to staying at The Moxy in York again on our next visit. I hope this honest review helps others make an informed decision.β
βStopped in for a coffee during our visit to York and ended up staying for lunch. Really tasty paninis, and the two staff members were welcoming and friendly. Clearly a favourite with locals too. Paid less than Β£20 for lunch for 2.β
βWe attended a wedding at Lindley Manor House and stayed here for 2 nights - the location was perfect! We stayed in the Wellington Suite which was good value for money, spacious and of a great standard. There's parking on site too. There's a gym on the 1st floor and the Old George cafe has the title in my books as the best full breakfast I've ever tried! I would recommend staying here for those who are attending a wedding nearby. Lindley village is within less than 10 mins walking distance - Wine Lindley cannot be missed!β
βGreat cafΓ© inside the Leeds Art Gallery with gorgeous decor and a warm atmosphere. However, itβs not ideal for working due to a lack of electrical outlets.β
βHenry Moore Institute tends to be a professional art gallery, specialized in Sculpture art, which is more than a general gallery. For some people, the name "Henry Moore" may mislead them it is a museum to exhibit Henry Moore's work, but it is not. Rather, it is established by Henry Moore for the further development of sculpture art. Thus, it is a place for understanding and research of sculpture. On the first floor, it is normal exhibition for public. Worth a look, but feeling "don't understand", even reading explanation from the nearby notecards, is within expectation. Art needs your interpretation. What is special here is the research library and archives of Sculpture, on the second floor. It serves for the research purposes.β
βCalled for a pint after walking from town. Karaoke evening. Nice Carling.β
βGood range of products, knowledgeable staff - I got some excellent advice and a great pair of boots.β
βVisited the cafΓ© for lunch while looking around the gallery, and it was so good we returned for breakfast a few days later. Food was absolutely delicious - high quality, flavoursome ingredients and service with a smile.β
βFantastic landlady. Personality is out of this world. Very welcoming. Breakfast is good full English with cereal and fruit juice if wanted. Good clean rooms. Tea and coffee supplied.β
βAmazing experience, about 10 minuite drive from the York town centre. The room cleanliness was up to a high standard, spacious room. The pool, hot tub and spa facilities included in the price of the room. Complimentary towels given when entering the pool area. The hot tub was at a great temperature and very relaxing. Would not reccomend the hotel more :)β
βAll in all we had a very pleasant weekend. We stayed from 29th Nov to 1st Dec. The lady who booked us in on Saturday afternoon was welcoming and informed us of times (and booked us in) for dinner in the beautiful glass walled dining room. The Sunday evening meal was much better than the Saturday (Turkey so dry I was served a spoonful of bits). On Sunday all was cooked well. Also I must mention the lady who waited on our table Becky. She was efficient and pleasant.β

There is an extensive range of beers lager and cider including six hand pulled cask conditioned real ales some i have not seen before, the ramsgate gadds she sells seashells was particularly good.
