“Went here to celebrate 25 yrs since our first date and we were looked after by all the staff who couldn't have done any more for us if they tried. When we arrived there was a card and bottle of prosecco on our table from the staff which was a lovely gesture. Food was spot on on arrival you got tea and biscuits then a 3 course meal to have as and when you wanted it then afternoon tea was served. All other staff that took us and looked after us in the parade and winners enclosures were so friendly and made you feel special. If you want to have a great day at the races with wonderful staff I highly recommend Pontefract Racecourse.”

“I visited a few years ago for a treatment. This is year is returned for laser treatment for Rosecea. Daiva has been amazing. “Fantastic alternative type of site . The facilities are very rustic so bare that in mind . However the bar is fabulous, live music on a Friday led by the family , Nigel and Shane . Saturday open mic night so plenty of entertainment. Site is laid back , firepits Inc logs and kindling are only 15 quid and saves you having to bring it . Decent burning logs too ! Nigel is aways full of fun and Shane the new boy is an incredibly friendly and helpful person.”

“I had a lovely stay at The Grange Lodge in York. The location is perfect—peaceful and tucked away, yet just a short walk from the heart of the city. It was the ideal base for exploring York’s historic streets. What really stood out, though, was the room service: consistently prompt, thoughtful, and delivered with a genuine warmth that made the experience feel truly welcoming. It’s the kind of place that strikes the right balance between comfort and convenience. I’d be very happy to return on a future visit.”

“A bit out of town because of the “nothing higher than the Minster” rules in York. A bugger to travel to from the centre. Saw - I SCREAM - excellent film. The whole place for a Wednesday night was a bit deadsville gulch.”

“This pharmacy not only promises fantastic customer service but delivers it in spades. On Thursday I reordered my prescription by phone at my GP's surgery. This afternoon it was delivered to my home. This was faster than when I collected it from a pharmacy in the next village myself. I would highly reccomend this pharmacy above all others. They are amazing people who care about their customers.”

Made the mistake of buying an ebike from a competitor bike store in Wakefield who completely fluffed up the setup to the point my new £9000 bike was dangerous and unrideable. Luke was recommended at Cycle Gear in Halifax so I travelled over and they sorted everything out like a Formula 1 team. So fast and thorough. I have now found a great store to look after my bike problems and servicing for the future. Luke is the king of bike mechanics, if there was a world champion at fixing bikes it would be Luke not Joe. Great team, great store, Luke 10 out of 10, Joe 9.5 out of 10.”

“We went it for a pre show meal at the theatre and was so happy with the atmosphere, decor, staff and the food was outstanding. We precooked and were greeted by a lovely staff member and we were quickly seated then moved as there was a light flickering and we had a party member with epilepsy (they were very accommodating) We had a look at the menu and they have a good selection the meals are little more expensive then average but there worth every penny. We ordered and the meals came out quickly, hot and looked amazing. The food was impeccable and we were over the moon with what we ordered and decided to treat ourselves to a dessert and we were very happy with our puds as well. Overall a fantastic experience with amazing food and wonderful staff and can't wait to go back there again and I have already recommended this restaurant too others”

“My screen washer pump had stopped working. My car needed a full service and it was due for its MOT. So I searched very carefully for a trusty garage, who would do a good job without ripping me off. West Yorkshire Autos came up trumps According to my survey and I wasn't disappointed. They collected my car, did a first class job and returned my car in a very courteous manner, presenting me with an extremely respectable bill for the work done. My research was right and I will definitely be using this company for any future work. Well pleased.”

Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concerns
The hotel was clean throughout — from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and won’t operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Quality
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to order—just ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundings
The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floor—turning something ordinary into part of the décor. There’s a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, there’s something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphere
Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilities
The hotel offers lots of thoughtful amenities: A well-equipped workout room directly opposite the lifts Fast, clean lifts with fun selfie-style Instagram templates inside Monthly event notices and clear signposting throughout the hotel A first-floor ironing room accessible with your room key Modern, comfortable guest rooms with sensor lights under the bed (perfect for late-night bathroom trips), air conditioning, USB ports, a European plug socket, a wing-backed chair, a kettle with tea/coffee and Biscoff biscuits, and secure locking feature. Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful night’s sleep — something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overall

“Ideal location for our needs visiting family in York. Decent sized room with very comfortable beds. The shower room smelled fusty (as it did on a previous visit. I think it's a drain issue). Good buffet breakfast with a good choice of hot food. Free parking.”

“We only visited for a meal (Sunday lunch) using a cheap Groupon voucher, but left with a really good impression of the place - so much so we decided we'd be happy to return and pay for a meal at full price. If we had to suggest / say anything about the food, the roast potatoes would be even better with caramelised bits from meat juices, but they were perfectly good just as they were, lovely and crisp.”
