“What a lovely old school Italian restaurant that is reminiscent of how original family restaurants were years ago. Staff are so welcoming in true Italian fashion from the moment you enter, and I have never been asked anywhere so fast if I want a drink! All food that comes out of their kitchen is cooked fresh and with heaps of love - the salmon and crab duo starter kicks the flavours off, and the scallops are big, fresh and cooked in an eclectic harmony of flavours of wine, cream and stock. Even the accompanying rice is firm, meaty and also cooked in the same. Meal for three and with bread, wine, water and service under £150 which is pretty reasonable for all what we had.”

“My friends & I went to this superb restaurant for lunch today. I have been here on numerous occasions. It never dissappoints! . My friends loved it. VIV’s new favourite. “I came to Penelope’s for lunch with my partner and two friends on Thursday afternoon. The food was absolutely phenomenal and the restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas, the location of the restaurant is stunning with lovely views all around. It’s definitely a hidden gem in the community, if you haven’t checked it out yet you definitely should. To eat we had a few items off the lunch menu which they serve between 12.30-4pm, my friends had a cheese and bean jacket potato and a chilli jacket potato both came with a side salad and they were delightful, the potato was lovely and soft inside and the fillings were loaded! My partner had a fish finger sandwich and I had an amazing falafel, hummus wrap which had roasted red peppers inside, the falafel was delicious I will definitely return for that alone. We also tried from the festive drinks menu an orange hot chocolate which was really delicious and looked beautiful too! We all cleaned our plates and left very full and satisfied, we will definitely be returning especially with all the exciting things they have going on over the Christmas period, the staff recommended us to check out their instagram to see their upcoming events and we’ll definitely come to bring the kids to meet Santa in their Christmas grotto!! If you haven’t been down to Penelope’s I’d recommend popping down, we’ll be trying their pizza next as that looks unreal too!!”

“I went here a couple of days ago and took the risk after all the bad reviews(only 1 time risk). But now maybe it has changed owners and it's better now? As it looked like only 1 chinese guy was working there who spoke perfect English and I didn't see anyone else in sight. But anyways what i ordered was delicious which was roast duck with bbq sauce on egg fried rice.”

“I booked an afternoon tea in a pod for myself, my mum and my aunt today. I have to say that Fiona was absolutely AWESOME!! She attended to our every request with a smile and some great chatter. Fiona is a true asset to the Mulberry Tree at Ruxley! GIVE HER A RAISE!!! The food was outstanding too. A really lovely afternoon tea with the best scone I have ever had in my life. So thank you to Fiona for making our afternoon so special. And thanks to the kitchen for the beautiful food. I booked this afternoon tea as an early Mother’s Day treat and I am so glad we went.
