(Apologies didnt catch the other fellas name) Give the night staff a payrise - they even opened the door for us and helped with our luggage. Dont expect that kind of service from a Travelodge. Very respectful staff. Check out was brilliant. Free kit kat from the staff. Bargain price and a decent bed!! Thanks.”

“I had a great stay at this hotel before my flight from Manchester Airport. It was super convenient, and the room was clean and comfortable. What really made the experience, though, was the excellent service. Faizan, in particular, was fantastic. He handed me my key and was so friendly and approachable, which I really appreciated. As a nervous flyer, his ability to communicate and just talk about things really helped take my mind off my worries and made me feel a lot better about the flight ahead. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a convenient and comfortable stay near the airport.”

“Really enjoyed my stay here, the staff were outstanding and hospitable, the bar next to the lobby had a welcoming, cozy feel, wonderful menu and lovely rooms. I'm not sure about some of the complaints on the size, it seemed average to me, but it was very clean which is high on my importance list, as was the rest of the hotel. This hotel is away from the city bustle a bit, but a lot of trees around the property make it very relaxing and a pleasure to escape the traffic. My only feedback is the vegan sausage in the morning was freezer burned and a little bland, they can be tossed in oil & seasoning to add flavor, but fresh/defrosted is best. My veg pizza was wonderful, so was the veg burger. Great buffet in morning. Outstanding staff professionalism in housekeeping and lobby.”

“My wife booked this place and looking at the reviews, I was a bit dubious about staying there. We ended up having a great stay. Ok the hotel is a little dated but the room was clean and quiet. The receptionist was lovely and I thank her very much for her help. Easy access via the number 59 bus into and out of the city centre. Had dinner the first night in the adjacent pub and spoke to a lovely couple that said it has recently been taken over and things are a improving.. had a great stay and would recommend. Thanks.”

“Very good hostel with friendly and helpful staff. The place was clean and comfortable overall. Breakfast was included, which was a big plus – no need to rush anywhere in the morning. I stayed in a 4-bed room, and all the necessary facilities were inside. There is a small locker next to the bed, but you need to have your own padlock. The staff were always responsive and welcoming. There is also a fridge where you can store your own food. The only downside was that the mattresses were not very comfortable. Overall, a pleasant stay!”

“It is a 2-star hotel with shared toilet and it did the job perfectly! Don't imagine it as a 5-star hotel. The room, hard floor, bed sheet and towel are reasonably fresh and clean. Perfectly warm with a radiator and an extra heater. Not super comfy but warm duvet. The staff Dan was warm and nice, even arranging a better room for me. There was also a microwave. I stayed on a Monday night which I think it wasn't full. The bathrooms were clean, dry and bright without any damp smell. It was perfect for me to just spend the night for a few hours. Will definitely stay here again with this budget! The only problem might probably be the sound-proofing. Bring a pair of ear plugs if you are not a deep sleeper.”

“I can't understand why this stunning hotel has only 3 stars! I was completely enchanted, just standing in front of this very old building with its wealth of ornate detailing and its very interesting history. I was blown away by the enormous chandelier in the lobby and highly ornate and unusual stairs and stair bridges. You can learn about the history in various places throughout the hotel. I had a good look around and was captivated! I was fortunate enough to see it in its full Christmas glory aswell. Fitting that the Nutcracker soldiers guard the stairs. The hotel was very, very clean, very atmospheric (!). Very warm and inviting. My room had everything I needed and the bar was very relaxed and lovely, unusual with its interesting features and spacious like the rest of the hotel. The staff are helpful and polite. Check in and out was easy. What more could you need? I would definitely recommend and would absolutely stay there again.”

Silky smooth with that perfect balance of strength and creaminess. It’s not just the coffee, though — the vibe is always friendly, no matter how early (or how zombie-like I look before caffeine). The team knows their stuff and clearly loves what they do. Support your local caffeine heroes!”

Ever-changing artist displays in an ambient environment 7 days a week with the chance to meet local artists as well and learn from them. And if you like the sound of clicking floorboards this is also the place to be. Fanfare the common man as Copland would say. Oh and did I mention the sapient Gardens outside? No? “The Black Friar has been amazing to work with for our friendship group's annual Christmas lunch. They made the entire booking process extremely easy, with all the T&Cs clearly outlined from the start. On the day we were looked after by Jess, who was incredible, very quick to respond to any issues raised, never kept anyone waiting, so accommodating with our various quirks (like pictures), and was easy to reach when needed without making it seem like hovering. And always with a smile, of course. Truly, truly a standout member of the team deserving of all the praise. The food at the Black Friar was also divine, incredibly generous portions (that I admit, have bested me) and every bite was a pleasure for all the senses. Our whole group was very happy with the afternoon we got to spend there and we will definitely be looking into coming back for next year's annual Christmas lunch, a total gem of a pub.”

“Been to Fernhill Hotel twice now and its really good value for money if you need to stay in and around Manchester, you will ideally need a car though as it's situated in a remote farm area, which does mean it is very quiet! The rooms are nice and are a mixture of modern and traditional, the main bedroom and desk are made from wooden and are of an older style, no issue with it though everything functions as needed. The bathroom/shower puts many mainstream hotels to shame, very modern styled bathroom, the shower has great water pressure and even has a heated towel rack, the only minor downside is there is a lack of an area to put toiletries other than the sink. Overall, a great stay and excellent value for money.”
