“Nipped in for a meal being intrigued by the name of a pub as The White Lion with the picture of a zebra on the pub sign. The pub is under refurbishment. The service was perfect. We had 3 roasts and we were struggling to eat all of the food. One small criticism - the food was not hot enough. I made a special request about my drink and it was not a problem for the barman to accommodate it.”

“Probably the best day-time café-style eatery in the Salford area. I'd be hard pressed to find anywhere better west of Manchester Centre! A family-run business with bags of character; Paul and Sarah are really friendly. By the time you've been a couple of times, all they ask is 'Usual?'. They are open from 7:30am for breakfast. By late morning the variety of food on offer is immense, including a really nice tapas menu, staying open for tapas till 4pm. Paul is a full-on chef who loves his trade, constantly adding superb dishes and making suggestions when he has found something new that he thinks you'd like. They love looking after folks, and will even open for a party if you book it with them. Highly recommended.”

The staff are so kind and welcoming, eager to assist and generally make you feel like you're at a friend's for dinner! PJ was honestly incredible, the kids absolutely adored him and sometimes its a worry taking 2 kids under 5 for dinner but he was a breath of fresh air and made us feel comfortable the whole time! “I started drinking in the strawberry duck about a year ago, it’s a warm & welcoming environment, with fantastic entertainment. All the staff are absolutely brilliant friendly, Vanessa the landlady is next level fantastic. It has a beautiful garden in the bank on the canal side.. Stunning in the summer months. Really reasonable prices. Buffets are amazing when on.only rated 1 star for food and they do not currently run the kitchen. Highly recommend.”

“Really good pub at the end of the runway. And very near the railway (hence the name) Came on an early Sunday afternoon for a quick pint. Very good service - food looked and smelt great, but we didn’t stay that long. Probably will be back one day soon though! Very big beer garden out the back. Caters well for kids (if that’s your thing) so can be for better or worse. Building inside is very low beams and ducking if your about 6ft and above! But really nice.”

“Always a fan of the Wharf for a special time, and you can't beat it on a Sunday for a roast, pie, or Asian-fusian salad. Ideal for a date or a classy yet casual catch up with pals. A great selection of pints that are local, broader UK, continental Europe, and classics. They always have at least one gluten free beer on tap at a time, this time was the Brightside Bitter, but often have an alternative option. There are food options for all with the menu having extensive catering for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free. The staff are allergen aware and I have never had a problem eating here. They offer veggie and GF savoury pies and roasts, and GF fish and chips, as well as desert options which is a rare treat. The good is reliably hot and tasty, never rushed. They can run out of popular dishes especially by late on a Sunday, but that is to be expected of a place this busy. I had the crispy beef salad (GF) which was very flavourful and had perfect textures. Parking can be validated to avoid paying anything using an iPad at the bar. There is an accessible entrance, I believe an accessible loo too. Upstairs toilets are always very clean, as pleasant as a loo can be.”

I then left them to a conversation of football etc. The pub is a beautiful building, original tiles both on the floor and walls. Bar staff really friendly. We stayed inside as it was too hot outside (yes, too hot) but there was a beer green with a tv. We would definitely visit again.”

“Fantastic theatre we visited for the last night of the summer panto Sleeping Beauty the cast were amazing and really comical, our 2 sons were in hysterics they couldn't stop laughing, we took our own snacks and drinks in as we were on a budget with our holiday being a week later, we would definitely visit again.”
